Piano teacher with more than 15 years of teaching experience in South America, Eastern Europe and the US. I tailor lessons according to my student's needs, and organize with them Music Recitals, so they can get experience sharing their talent with others. My studio is in the NY metro area, and I teach all levels and ages of students.

About Edelweiss
Master in Arts, Pianist, Classical Singer and Teacher. I started to teach privately in my original country Ecuador, in 1995. Then I continued teaching at the National and Private Conservatory of Music in Guayaquil, as a Piano teacher, Piano Accompanist, and later on as a Voice Coach for the Conservatory Youth Choir. I went to Ukraine in 2003 to get my master degree in Music with a major in Voice, and continued with my private teaching there. Once in the US, I continued with my private piano & voice studio, and with vocal and choral coaching in the NY area.

I enjoy teaching! It gives me a lots of rewards seeing the progress and enthusiasm of my students. I prepare recitals for them to be exposed to the performance experience, and for them to be aware they have a talent to share with their loved ones and the society they live in.

Excellent Teacher

This is my first time playing the piano and I was a little timid about taking lessons. Janet is very easy-going and extremely cognizant of my abilities which has helped me to feel more relaxed and I have been able to learn a great deal from her. I am pleasantly surprised by how much I have been able to pick up in such a short time. She is a wonderful teacher.

My youngest student is 3.5 years old. That said, I also teach adults - sometimes parents take lessons with their kid! Believe me when I say it's very fun and productive when both parent and child knows what needs to be practiced. I usually balance out lessons with not just famous classical pieces, but also with your favorite pop tunes! Every student is different, so I adjust my lessons and provide customized material accordingly.

You will learn technical skills such as scales and arpeggios in fun ways as I incorporate them into songs they want to learn! You will also learn about putting your emotions and interpretation into the music. Music theory is a must for students in order to understand how to read notes. I'll even incorporate some songwriting or composition to develop creativity and originality!

About Tammy
I conduct group lessons for young children, which I am unable to state on my profile/list of services here. You can send me a message if you are interested in them!

I believe EVERYONE should have the opportunity to learn music, especially children, in a fun and enjoyable way! As someone who grew up around music (my mother is a music teacher!) I wish to give that chance to others.

I started playing the piano at around the age of four, and helped out as a substitute teacher at my mother's music school back in Singapore while in High School. I left shortly after to pursue music at Berklee College of Music, where I graduated summa cum laude in August 2013 with a Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production!

My students range from as 3.5 years old, to the grandmother of a couple of my students. I wo
rk mostly with children, but have a handful of adult beginner students I work with as well.

Everyone is different - and I personally take the time and effort to develop and customize my lessons and materials for each student. I'll push you (a little!), to make you realize just how much you can do!

Music is an all-rounded experience. Not only can I offer you a chance to learn how to play different styles of piano, from jazz to pop to classical, but I can also teach you how to write your own songs, arrange them, and perhaps (if you like) record them!

We are absolutely thrilled with our experience with Tammy. My two sons meet with her online to review the Mandarin language they take at school. The extra 30 min. a week of conversation and tone work is invaluable. I would rate Tammy a 10/10 as she sends highlights, a review and suggestions of study for the week after each lesson. If a person can have teenage boys look forward to "extra" Chinese weekly, they deserve a medal!

Playing the piano is a fun and enjoyable activity, but it takes a commitment and hard work. Despite studies of music’s effects on the brain and improving test scores, the most powerful benefit of music lessons is, in my opinion, the gain of a musical talent. There are also other important skills that students can learn in my classes:
Time management skills
Performing under pressure
Self-evaluative skills
Memorization
Fine muscle coordination
How to handle winning and losing.

About Dunja
Dunja Novcic was born in 1986 in Novi Sad, where he attended elementary and secondary music school. As the oldest of four, she would teach her siblings the music.
Academic studies begins in 2005 in Novi Sad. As the winner of Eastern Europe Linkage Institute scholarship and Florida International University School of Music scholarship, she continues her studies at Florida International University in class of Kemal Gekic, world-renowned pianist.
She was awarded Magna Cum Laude honors for accomplished success during her studies at Florida International University. She was nominated for a member of the NSSA at the Florida International University in 2008.
Significant solo performances and concerts Dunja held in Serbia, United States, Italy, and Montenegro.
From May 2011 to June 2015 she was teaching classical piano in
High Music School i
n Serbia. She was dedicated professor, and won with her pupils many prices at the state competitions and festivals in Serbia and abroad.

I'm an experienced teacher of 20 years, specializing in jazz and classical piano. Lessons are customized and catered to the goals of each student. I believe a strong foundation in theory and harmony will help to put everything in context regardless of genre. All ages are welcome!

About Dan
I'm a professional pianist and composer with a passion for both performing and teaching. I have an undergraduate degree in music performance from Northwestern University, and a masters degree in jazz performance from NYU. I've released six albums with my band, and my music has been licensed for TV (WB) and film (Universal). My last album was featured on NPR's "Fresh Air," and I tour nationally and internationally while overseeing a teaching studio of about 20 students here in New York.

While my passion is jazz and I work in contemporary music, I've studied classical piano since age 4 and believe that a strong foundation in theory and harmony translates well to all genres while providing much needed context. My students are all ages and range in ability from beginner to professional. I teach out of a cozy studio in Boerum Hill, a
nd travel to students homes under the right circumstances. Whether your goals are reading music, reading chord charts, playing by ear, improvising, or composing, I always strive to make the lessons fun and stress free!

We'll have fun exploring the basics techniques of the piano while working on a dynamic repertoire together. The intention will be to get yourself to the next level of playing.

About Grady
My personal philosophy of music is to explore and learn as much from my students as I can teach them. For me teaching is like going on an adventure to find something together. I've been able to play all over the world and tour with many different musicians and the thing that made the core of every great performance was the human interaction and communication. For me music is about being more human. This is something I just as much try to impart and teach in my lessons as theory and technique. (On a side note I can travel farther than 13 miles as long as it's in the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx).
