About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

I am a Freelance Graphic Designer who specializes in branding and web design, but is also trained as a hand letterer and calligrapher. I currently work for National Geographic Learning in Downtown Chicago and I will devote most of my free time helping you become super awesome at being a graphic designer and I'll give you a few tips on starting your own Graphic Design business.

About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

Moataz immediately jumped into our lesson by asking me about my goals and from there to course content, which I loved. He tailored his lesson to my interests and offered so many amazing resources (beyond himself) to help me. I think I will continue to reap the benefits of this lesson for weeks to come. He seemed invested in helping me take real steps forward & didn't spend a single minute of class time pushing his products or future lessons. Not needed, because I will definitely be back.

I have used Adobe Illustrator for the past 5 years for both academic and professional work. I also use it in my spare time for graphic design, tweaking logos coming up with new ideas for friends and co workers. Live paint, live trace, and creating outlines from text are a few features that allow me to create diversified logos.

About Steven
I'm a recent graduate of the Boston Architectural College, and employed by a large architectural firm in Boston. I am currently teaching a Rhino 3-D course at the BAC I tutor in all aspects of architecture including portfolio design, writing, software tutoring, design critiquing, and overall academic guidance. For software, I specialize in the Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, and V-Ray. I've tutored students of all differing ages and skill sets, ranging from novice to advanced user. Further, I have numerous references and reviews about my services that I would be happy to pass along, as well as past design work that I have done both academically and professionally. We will start by getting to know one another a bit so I can gain a clear idea of what you are hoping to gain from our sessions. Whether it be an intro to a software or taking developing a full start to finish project. After our first meeting I will use my 11 years of professional experience to develop a unique lesson plan for you and your goals.

About Etana
Hi! My name is Etana, M.S. I am a detail oriented, self starting designer with 11 years of professional experience under my belt. From print to web, design is not simply what I do for a living, it is my passion.

I run a Tempe, Arizona based business called SocietyJazz = ‘Society’ as in the totality of people and ‘Jazz’ as in all that stuff. Society Jazz brings together my core concepts: People .Passions . Environments.

I bring this philosophy into my teaching method: I believe that each person is uniquely different so therefore their love/passion in life and how they bring it into the world is their own. I use this philosophy to create unique lessons based on you, how you learn and what you want to learn.

There isn't a creative challenge I won't take on with you no matter your experience level. My greatest joy is to share my pas
sion of Design with you.

I came to these lessons with minimal Adobe experience. In fact, I've always gone to great lengths to avoid using Adobe, because I find it overly challenging. I like simple! Yet I also saw a growing need to get Photoshop under my belt for my various websites and business graphics.

Etana took a guy who didn't even know how to work with layers, and after a few hours of training together I was whipping out some very sharp looking graphics & images for our website. She assessed my needs and patiently walked me through the basics of what I'd foreseeably use on the projects I normally work on.

I now feel much more confident to tackle the Adobe beast. Etana is a skilled instructor. If I ever have a need for additional instruction or help with a design project I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again. I highly recommend this very capable instructor! Thank you for helping me Etana. :-)

Zack has really taught me a lot as far as basic html, how to create easy email templates and basic coding skills for microsites. His skillset knows no bounds. Has vast experience to draw from, has the patience of a saint, has been teaching for a really long time. But private lessons are where its at. That way you can learn exactly what you want, and not syphon through the stuff you really don't need to help your career, along.

About AHMED
I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
