Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!
The trumpet is a colorful and exciting instrument played in many styles of music throughout the world, from jazz and classical to funk and soul to reggae, afro-beat, and Balkan music. In addition to covering the basic technical requirements of the instrument, I'm particularly interested in the many genres in which the trumpet can be found, and I like to focus on the styles of music that most interest and challenge my students. I have been playing trumpet for more than 18 years, and I teach my students valuable brass exercises based on lessons I learned under the tutelage of John McNeil, Laurie Frink, and Walter White. I encourage the use of long tones, air support, and trumpet calisthenics to improve tone, increase range and endurance, and work towards greater flexibility.
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing and recording on slide trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, and french horn. I write and arrange music for my own groups and regularly write and record horn arrangements for folk, pop, and reggae groups. I have attended Berklee College of Music and Ithaca College, and I have a Master's degree in jazz trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
I have over nine years of experience working with students ages 7 to adult. I have worked both from my home studio and though several public and community music school program
s including the Hudson Arts Alliance in Hudson, MA, the Kittredge Elementary School in North Andover, MA, and the Performing Arts Center of Metro West in Framingham, MA. I have studied jazz performance with trumpet greats John McNeil and Walter White, improvisation with jazz gurus David Schumacher and Jerry Bergonzi, and George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization with master composer and theorist Ben Schwendener.
As an educator, my aim is to inspire in my students an enthusiasm for the artistic performance of music of any style. I strive to convey my own excitement for the art to young trumpeters and improvisers, and I have worked to encourage self-motivation and a longstanding interest in musical self-expression in elementary through high school students and adults. I have experience performing many styles of music from jazz and experimental improvised music to funk, reggae, and afro-beat, and I use my knowledge of divergent genres to encourage creative experimentation and convey the expressive artistic elements shared by all music. As an improviser I am particularly interested in teaching the theory and philosophy of spontaneous composition and musical communication.
I have a background in Trumpet techniques and music production. As a music producer, you must be aware of what's popular and what everyone is listening to. I bring that into the musical session. As a trumpet teacher for 3 plus years, I focused on ages 9 to 18 years old. Most students develop a healthy relationship with their instrument and good practicing habits. As a classically trained musician, I created a specialized daily routine to improve your trumpet playing. I always like to introduce new and fun techniques to develop proper air control, embouchure to mention a few. I also make an emphasis on the students potential. I believe this is key to a good musical session. Over the years I've encountered many students and I like to focus on the interactions with the music. I studied at The New School of Jazz and contemporary music. There I learned how to teach the language of jazz through free improv techniques. This exercise gives the musical session life and spontaneity with the ...

Experienced music teacher of 7 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! While clarinet is my primary instrument I have a special attachment to the trumpet. My original clarinet teacher was in fact a trumpet player and is currently a section leader for one of the United States Air Force Bands. I have also given private lessons to 4 trumpet players - some of whom have gone on to do very well at the high school level.
Michael graduated from the prestigious Music Education Program and Psychology Program at Ithaca College in 2012. Ithaca gave him the incredible opportunity to hone in on his musicianship and compositional skills. He was also able to discover a new medium of composition, film composition. Michael immediately fell in love with the art of writing music for film and was able to make his first musical debut on a film directed by Mike Blaney. In his time at Ithaca College, he composed scores for multiple films and continues to maintain an active composition career. Michael is currently finishing as a music teacher Brooklyn Scholars Charter School (BSCS) and Music Content Leader for National Heritage Academies (NHA) New York Branch. Michael is currently in school studying the psychological benefits of music education for children and adolescents
I focus on fundamentals first with all of my students. We build up the groundwork of their playing so they can be successful as we move on to playing repertoire. As they progress with the basics, I focus on individual student learning needs and desires. I gear each of my private lessons to the specific student so they get the most out of each lesson.
I am a very dedicated educator with experience teaching private lessons since 2013. I graduated from Rutgers University with a duel degree in Music Education and French Horn Performance, and I am currently completing my Master of Music degree in French Horn Performance at New York University where I study with the acting Associate Principal Horn of the New York Philharmonic, Leelanee Sterrett.
I am currently the brass instructor at the lesson studio Music Forever in Edison, New Jersey. I also have experience working in various public schools including Readington Middle School, Holland Brook Elementary School, PS3 Charrette School, and Perth Amboy High School. In addition, I have coached chamber music through the Rutgers Extension Division.
As a performer, I have played in various orchestras, bands, and other various chamber groups.
As a co-founder of Prime Winds, a woodwind quintet, and Quartado, a horn quartet, I understand the organizational skills it takes to network and manage an ensemble. I was also the winner of the NYU Concerto Competition, and I will be playing Anthony DiLorenzo's concerto "Phoenix" this coming October with the New York University Orchestra.
I strongly believe that student centered learning is essential for successful student growth. I adapt my lessons to specific student learning needs based on my assessment of their abilities and interests. It is important to me that my students learn in a way that is best for them, and that they are going over material that will help them reach their goals. In addition to teaching my students how to play with great technique and a beautiful sound, I teach them what it means to be a musician in the 21st century. It is important to me that my students can understand how to use what they are learning about in real life settings outside of the practice room. I push my students to be excellent musicians as well as life time learners.
Kevin is a very passionate teacher who is dedicated to music with excellent teaching skills. He is being teaching my daughter for the past 1 year and I have seen my daughter progressed good at playing French Horn.
Kevin is very good in troubleshooting and explaining if the student is not able to play a music piece and is very patient while teaching.

Kevin is a really great French Horn teacher & musician! He also has helped me a lot with piano. I’ve been studying with Kevin for 3 years& I got first chair at my school because of him.

Kevin is an excellent teacher! My daughter Erica struggled in her band class, and she considered quitting. Once she started lessons however, she really progressed and now loves playing!
Online Special ! 15 minutes extra time for students who book online at no extra cost. //clinician, professional trumpet player & maker// Over the past 26 years I developed my own technique and teaching methodology how to play brass instruments the most efficient way.
The lip is the sound source which creates a standing airwave within the instrument and the trumpet functions as a filter and amplifier.
I also developed a special tongue technique which requires less movement when phrasing notes ( single, double and triple tongue) and therefore is faster, requires less effort, is very versatile, usable in any style of music and is much more accurate in hitting the notes.
If you understand these two aspects and are able to implement them you perform better with practicing less.
I cover all aspects of trumpet playing ( technique, breathing, posture, embochoure, equipment, phrasing, sight reading, improvisation, high range, endurance, sound quality, repertoire etc.).
Franz, trumpeter, clinician, composer, and brass instrument maker is the founder and artistic director of the internationally renowned Outreach Music Festival and Academy and leads his own group, Franz's IDO Quartet. Franz is a master musician.
As a teacher he is able to take the student from their level of playing and introduce them to new concepts on the instrument, thus raising their musicianship to much higher levels.
Beginning students learn basic technique, scales & songs.
I operate in the music arena as a touring musician; a Music Director for musicals, jazz ensembles and choirs; a composer & songwriter; a band teacher at my local elementary school, a private instructor and a producer with a degree in Jazz Composition and Professional Music from Berklee College of Music. I am currently performing and writing with Divinity Roxx (Beyonce, Victor Wooten, etc.), Elle Winston, Kate Vargas and others. Most of my writing and creating is done here in my private studio. I am proud to have produced tracks featured by the likes of Elton John on his Beats 1 Radio (Apple Music) station. That is to say, I'm really proud of the artists and having such an inspired space.
I have, and continue to be honored to perform all over the world with some of the most prolific players this planet has seen and those it will experi
ence in the coming years. I find playing music can be a great source of inspiration and release. But most importantly, everyone has a voice to be heard through music.
I have taught privately since I was in high school on my own. Over the years, I have also been affiliated with some amazing entities. Additionally, my work in arts administrative (Brooklyn Academy of Music -BAM, UVA Music) and my new affiliation with Zoo Labs translates into my ability to show you skills that will garnish success when you aren't playing music.
My students can expect growth in knowledge of rhythm, understanding of music and song forms. Your timing will improve! Your feel for styles (blues, rock, jazz, hip hop, EDM, etc.) will improve! Your technique will be through the roof!! I empower my students to do whatever they can dream to do with music, whether it is for personal enrichment or personal ambition.
I will demystify anything you feel is outside of your reach and grow you into the musician you want to be. My private studio is a fully equipped playground for the musically-minded with all the tools and materials you need to grow as a musician, so all you need to bring is your imagination. I look forward to the journey.
Granville is an excellent teacher ! He is a able to teach technique to my 3 year old in a way that he instantly gets it. The vast array of instruments he has available for my son to experience is a musical playground!

Great lesson with Granville! Very insightful and patient teacher and the lesson was a great mix of technique and playing. Very much looking forward to the next lessons.

Granville is extremely knowledgeable, patient, organized and invested. Recommend him to EVERYONE!
Improving one's skills in any area is exhilarating and rewarding, and it happens most quickly when the lessons and homework are paced just right for the student's level. As a teacher, I try to balance time spent on technique and foundation with time on creative, right-brained musical play.
I have experience in jazz, classical, flamenco, funk, Cuban music, pop music, and all kinds of other styles of music. Let me know if you have a particular interest in any genre or even a specific artist you'd like to emulate.
Besides teaching instrument playing techniques, music theory, and improvisation, I also spend time in lessons helping students find their own best practice. I believe it is possible to help students find a level of flow that is unparalleled when they condition themselves to practice with deep presence and awareness of their own state.
It brings me great joy to facilitate the incredible feeling of exhilaration that accompanies improving one's music skills.
I studied jazz trumpet performance at Oberlin Conservatory (Bachelors, '02) and The Juilliard School (Masters '17). I studied Mandarin Chinese at Oberlin College (Bachelors, '02). I lived and worked in Shanghai, China, from 2003 to 2010. I've been teaching music and language lessons for over 15 years and love to help people grow.
Whether you are starting from scratch or have some experience, I can help you get to the next level by giving you specific, methodical steps to work on and practice. I do my best to give students just the right amount of material to practice and study between each lesson, so that they stay motivated while feeling the right level of challenge and consistent improvement.
Fantastic trumpet instructor. JQ is patient, receptive, encouraging—the list goes on. He's helped me go from literally not being able to make a decent note to playing a little shindig on New Year's for my family. Highly recommended. I'm still taking lessons!
May 28, 2019
I found that J.Q. was a quality tutor. He adapted to what I needed to focus on for Mandarin, which was tones, and as such I was able to improve my foundation. He also has a good knowledge of the language apart from just being fluent, and could answer any question I had. I definitely recommend him.
"Caleb tunes right into your experience level and has a ton to offer right from the beginning while being really easy to work with. We talked about goals
and trumpet history and started structuring a new warmup routine. With Caleb's diverse performing experience, he can teach you about hip hop, funk, jazz, orchestral, and small ensemble brass work (plus probably some other stuff I don't know about yet)."
"Stephen is the perfect teacher for my 14 year old son who is a beginner on trumpet. My son enjoys trumpet as a hobby, and plays in his school band. Steph
en's lessons are fun and low pressure. He is remarkably calm and professional, and he doesn't waste any lesson time. My son looks forward to his lessons with Stephen."
"Jennifer was really good. Very patient and takes lot of initiative outside class to make sure she addresses all aspects. She comes very well prepared for
every class. She was always on time."
"Katie was very patient and encouraging during our daughter's lesson. She is a fun and excellent teacher. Thank you!!!!"
"Caleb was very friendly, obviously knowledgeable and right on time! Looking forward to many more lessons with him"
My son wants to play trumpet in the jazz band at school so he asked for lessons over the summer. Iâm so glad we found Jordan. He welcom
ed us right in and worked so well from that first moment. My son is a bit shy, so Iâm so grateful that he found learning from Jordan so easy. In fact, every time he came out of a lesson, he asked for more lessons! The feedback from Jordan has been nicely detailed so we know where he is improving, where to focus his practice sessions (and reminding him to practice), and giving suggestions of music to listen to, to make him notice that the learning isnât just practicing, but listening as well. Jordan clearly knows and practices what he teaches. My son also mentioned that he really appreciates the times when Jordan plays along with him during the practice. Thanks Jordan!"
"Jacob felt very positive about his lesson today. Beckie assured him that they could work on everything he's wanting to do."
"Justin is one of the most helpful trumpet teachers I have ever had. He adjusts the level of lessons in order to make them both challenging and enjoyable.
He makes sure that I have a solid foundation and continue to practice scales and basic techniques. He also demonstrates how I should play certain pieces and what they should sound like, rather than simply telling me, which I find very helpful when learning."
I am a professional musician who has taken beginner-level secondary instrumental lessons with Katie on trumpet. Katie is a highly skil
led trumpet player, a patient and knowledgeable teacher, and an even better person. I give her my highest recommendation."
Whether you play trumpet, trombone, French horn, or any other brass instrument, there are several key factors to improving. Development of tone, technical facility and embouchure are important components. All of these areas will improve if you develop endurance.
The Mechanics of Developing Endurance
Developing endurance is nothing more than developing the ability to play your instrument while maintaining proper technique for an extended period of time. As many beginners know, practicing …
