I've had the pleasure of working along side Marie as a colleague. I was able to witness first hand her compassionate nature and her dedication towards her students and towards teaching. She sets the bar high for her students but helps them along in a caring and patient manner so that they can achieve all their goals. She is knowledgeable and experienced in her subject matter and I have no doubt that she can help your child reach success.

I had Ms. Marie for French and she was one of my favourite teachers. The amount of patience that she had with some of my very troublesome classmates was very inspiring because I always wondered how was she able to keep her composure so well. Her teaching methods worked and she always taught in a manner in which you would have no choice but to learn

I am a seasoned language teacher, of both adults and children. Making languages come alive through interesting anecdotes, songs, and stories, is my specialty. My schooling, from age four to 14, was 100% in French. Boy, did those nuns drill us in grammar!

About Bettina

I grew up in Sweden, speaking Swedish at home, but going to French school. At age four, I was immersed in a French environment, and had to sink or swim. I swam! In my late teens, my family moved to Israel, so I became fluent in Hebrew as well. I understand a lot about the language acquisition proce

Nassiba is a gifted teacher. I took her class after I met her as a neighbor, I’m very satisfied with her. As far as I know, she didn’t take any new student this year because of her new medical career, I’m not sure if the N.Zack’s review is accurate. I’m planning on visiting France whenever COVID gets under control, so I’m looking forward to retaking her class whenever she’s back on Takelessons. Highly recommend Nassiba.

"Professor Jean-Luc is phenomenal. I think the material he has chosen to give lessons with is very clear and has helped me improve a lot. Before every lesson he makes sure to send you the material for the next class, which helps a lot specially when you are learning online. The main reason why I chose him is because he is a french native speaker, which was extremely important to me because all my life I had french teachers that weren't french, so my pronunciation was a little bit weird-- I feel that I have improved a lot these 4 months :). I started learning French when I was 11 years old and Professor Jean-Luc helped me refresh my mind--it is interesting how he helped me remember many small grammar and writing details. I am very satisfied! Thank you Professor."

"M. Marie Roche conducted on the campus of U Mass eight seminars--open to all--on two of Shakespeare's history plays, King John and Richard II. Neither play is popular with modern Shakespeare-going audiences. But she accomplished the nearly impossible--making both plays compelling and relevant by her selection of background documents and themes. I hope that TakeLessons can provide an adequate platform for her level of sophistication."

"I have been studying at my local Alliance Française for a little over a year. The classes at the Alliance move very quickly.

As a result, I have had trouble grasping some of the concepts. Therefore, I decided to hire a tutor.

Over the past 6 months, I have been looking for a tutor online and I kept going back to Pascale’s reviews and profile.

I was reluctant to hire an online tutor because I did not think that I could work with or learn French from an online tutor.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, everything including my courses at the Alliance went online. So, I decided to give online tutoring a chance and I am so happy that I did.

After studying with Pascale for the past month, I feel more confident in my ability to learn French.

Pascale’s ability to teach online is superb. Her techniques for online learning make you feel that you are actually meeting with her in person.

So, if you are thinking about hiring a tutor for French, look no further than Pascale. I highly recommend her. You will not regret it."

Bonne Fête des Mères! French Vocabulary for Mother's Day

Here in the states, we celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May (psst that's May 10 this year!), but did you know that in France Mother's Day, known as la fête des mères, is celebrated either the last Sunday of May or the first Sunday in June? Despite the difference in timing, the French celebrate Mother's Day in many of the same ways we do, but with a few uniquely French touches. First things first, if you want to celebrate this holiday as the French do, you'll need to know a bi …
