I offer individual lessons for regional Greek violin technique. The lessons are geared for intermediate to advanced violin students, but experience with Greek music is not required.

Violin is the primary melodic instrument of Greek music, so there are many different regional styles and techniques. The objective of these lessons is to learn basic violin techniques from distinct regions across Greece. The lessons focus on rhythm/bowing and ornamentation, which are taught through traditional tunes, and include a basic introduction to maqam and moria.

Hello! I've been playing both piano and violin for 19 years, and teaching for 13. I really enjoy cultivating a deep love for music in my students, and working with their specific strengths and weaknesses to find musical strategies that will work best for rapid, solid advancement in their musical journeys. I integrate music theory, technical exercises, ear training, and music history into lessons in order to build a strong, balanced musical foundation. Lessons are built around your personal interests--I'll listen to you, and take all your needs into consideration.

About Adrianna

Adrianna Svitak is a Classical pianist, violinist, published author and composer who spent her formative years on the West coast. I highly recommend Adrianna Svitak as a piano teacher. When I met her, I had already been playing music professionally for about 30 years. I was mainly a jazz player, but I’d had some classical training. I told Adrianna some of the things that were challenging me technically and she picked a piece for me to work on that not only helped me in the areas I was struggling with, but one that was inspiring musically as well. She took the time to assess my abilities and then pointed things out that enhanced what I already knew in addition to immediately correcting bad habits I wasn’t aware of. I felt my playing improve very quickly after the first couple of lessons. She is a great and thoughtful musician who is generous with her knowledge.

Adrianna is very patient and knowledgable. She asked me about my needs and prepared the lesson material that best suit me before hand and ensured not a minute of our lesson was waisted!
Joyce
Adrianna teaches her students with enthusiasm and pays great attention to their needs and interest. She customizes her teaching to encourage her students to develop their musicality.

Mr Yakov is very pleasant, patient and professional. He makes learning fun. One of my daughters is very shy and particular. I was concerned for her first violin. But she ended up loving the lesson and the instructor. We did some lessons online and at his studio. During the online lesson, the connection with our internet was horrible. He could hear her playing but she couldn't hear him. Yet, patiently, he got creative and taught the lesson with my daughter through chat. The environment of the studio is comfortable. You can tell he's passionate about what he does. That left me with a great impression of him. We look forward to more lessons with him for as long as we can.
Thanks Mr Yakov!!!

I have a lot of experience with the Suzuki method as a teacher and also a player having started with that myself. However unless the player or parent specifies that they want strict Suzuki, I go with my method which involves Suzuki but also other methods. I was not strict Suzuki and it definitely worked for me as well as students of mine!
