I believe that each person is drawn to the drums for different reasons; some have dreams of performing in stadiums for thousands of people, others simply want to be able to play along to their favorite records in the garage on a Sunday afternoon. Whatever your goals are, my goal as a teacher is to always keep sight of your initial motivations for drumming, craft an individual plan to help you get there, and to have some fun along the way! (All styles & levels welcome)

I have 17 years experience performing drum set, hand drums, mallets and many other percussion instruments. I received a Bachelor's in Music for Percussion Performance and Music Education from the Sacramento State School of Music and I received my Master's in Music for Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have experience teaching in public schools (high school and middle school levels), the collegiate level, music camps, and I have maintained a private studio for over two years. I have a method of teaching based on what you want to learn while also going over technique, posture, musicianship and music theory. My teaching is based entirely on the student as many people have different ways of learning so I do my best to make myself clear. My goal is to make lessons fun and informative, so let's enjoy the journey of making music!

He’s very patient and very knowledgeable about a lot of songs that I was interested in learning and he made it fun to learn, and that made an old lady’s life very enjoyable for many years ! I really appreciated him!!"

Casey C. is the best teacher for drumming lesson. Sometime I came to his house 5-10 minute late he still give a some extra time. Very understanding teacher. I enjoy every lesson with Casey."

Mr. Mike is not only my drum teacher, he is also my friend. Every time I arrive at his studio, he always asks me about my life and how I’ve been, and he makes me laugh all the time. I hardly remember my life before Mr. Mike. I look up to him, and he has always been a great role model to me. Mr. Mike has inspired me to be as accomplished as he is on the drums when I grow up. Even when I am struggling to learn hard parts, he is always supportive and helps me through it. Mr. Mike never makes me feel bad about myself; in fact, he has made me more confident not only as a drummer but as a person. I think the world of Mr. Mike. I think he has helped to shape me to be the person I am today.
Mr. Mike is one of the kindest and warm-hearted people I have ever met. He inspires me to be the best drummer I can be. Mr. Mike is a huge part of my life, and I hope he always will be. I am so lucky to have him as my teacher. They don’t make words to express how highly I recommend him to be your drum teacher."

I felt so comfortable with her as a teacher (and a person) I also had her teach my youngest son (who was 11 at the time).
She never missed an appointment, and was always on time (very important for a drummer)"

Thinking about learning how to play the drums? As with any new musician, getting to know your instrument is essential to your progress and success. For drummers in particular, it’s not just one instrument - it’s a whole set! The typical five-piece drum kit is the most traditional, although there are many variations to it that more advanced players can create. The types of drums you should be familiar with, however, are: The snare The bass drum or kick drum The rack toms …
