High school and introductory level college physics. Vectors, projectile motion, Newton’s laws and circular motion.
Hi! My name is Julia A. I have been tutoring students of all ages and skill levels at learning centers, colleges, libraries and schools since 2008.
My instruction extends nationwide, with students from all corners of the US, utilizing online tutoring services such as Skype.
My main field of study is in MATH (trig, algebra, geometry, precalculus), CHEMISTRY (high school and college), and PHYSICS (high school and college).
I completed my Bachelors in Physics and Mathematics Education at Hunter University and have gained experience with both in-person and online group instruction and curriculum development.
Some examples of the students I have tutored are: Elementary school students preparing for State competitions and exams; High school and College students in preparance for entrance exams, and in subjects such as algebra, geom
etry, trig, precalc, chemistry and physics.
I do Regents and SAT/ACT prep for these subjects as well as the GRE (These are NYS based High School Preparatory Exams - do not hesitate to ask should you need assistance with the ones offered in your state/country).
In addition, I am thorough and meticulous, by paying special attention to how the student grasps information and retains it, I prepare individualized handwritten reviews, with supplemental material found online and in texts.
I assign homework to keep my students ahead of what is going on in class, and a visual and intuitive understanding of the concepts I present is important to me, so I use visual aids (diagrams and interactive models) to help my students integrate what they learn with me in real life situations.
My instruction includes: 1. Tutoring based on the school curriculum 2. Instruction on the home-schooling curriculum 3. Assisting those with a gap in going back to school/university.
I start with an assessment based on what the student has trouble with or last remembers covering in school, and prepare material going from there.
As a result, my students all have improved grades without any need for cramming before tests, and I encourage a stress-free and easygoing learning environment.
My lessons are fun and enthusiastic - these subjects are beautiful and will help open your mind to new ways of thinking - whatever your field of study!
Julia was very organized and well informed about chemistry. She was so much help. I would definitely use her again.

Great help to our 9y.o., who is exploring math. Clear explanation, additional materials, and a nice memo after each lesson. Thank you! Will do again!

Julia creates her own curriculum which is better than anything my daughters receive in their schools.
I see marked improvements in their grades for this past year, and my eldest is actually skipping fourth grade as a result of lessons. I am astounded as to my girls' progress, and greatly appreciative of our tutor's expertise.
Her patient, methodical approach to teaching is why I see us remaining with her for all of our educational instruction. She has already taught arithmetic to my youngest (3rd grade), and algebra to my eldest (starting 5th this sept!), and is proceeding with more advanced math with no issue whatsoever. I cannot recommend her enough.
30min increments: For =< 60mins lesson, you have to come near to my place; I will come to your place at >= 90mins.
General/Introductory Physics: Are you one of those who feel that you have to take this subject like a bad prescription? Unlike some bitter medication that is hard to swallow, my lessons can help you slowly digest, as it were, the important points in portions that can easily be understood with much better appreciation.
My interests are in electromagnetic theory, kinematics, device/quantum physics and general relativity.
90mins/lesson + travel fee; travel fee waived for 120min lessons.
(IMPORTANT: Please do NOT book any lessons without confirming with me if we have a match in schedule. I have other obligations besides tutoring so if you do not have a flexible schedule, I recommend other tutors that will match your budget and schedule.)
I specialize in NYC Gifted & Talented Test, SHSAT, ACT and also TACHS/HSPT/COOP, SSAT/ISEE, Common Core, Regents, college/graduate admissions tests [i.e. SAT, GRE/GMAT]) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra), Statistics and Science (especially Physics). I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.
My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could enroll in any New York City school participating in the program.
Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingl
y. Now, I make sure that I do not totally depend on tutoring for income so I can maintain a certain level of quality. In other words, when there is a match in objective, budget and schedule, I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey. I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing. Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your existing situation so we have to accept that and move on.
Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My rates for children and teens will in principle be at least the same as adults because I actually invest more time and effort since I have to consider the feedback of at least 2 individuals (student+guardian) compared with an adult student. Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis. Please see each subject rate for more details.
When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extra-ordinary by adding that little "extra."
I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!

I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention.
I have been a classroom teacher for 11 years. I got my degree in elementary education. I have taught 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. I'm best with younger grades. I can help with homework or plan a lesson over any concept you are having trouble with. I like to make learning fun. I have taught math, science, language arts, and social studies.
I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.
Kevin is an enthusiastic and professional teacher! He has built up my son's confidence, and given him opportunities to perform and hone his percussion skills. I highly recommend Kevin!

I was out of town when my 15-year old son had his lesson with Kevin, so I sent a text to my son to find out how it went. "He is the best guitar teacher ever!!" my son replied. I think that says it all.

First lesson was great! On the drive home Ava said, " I'm so excited I feel like I could run a marathon!"
Haha Thank you Kevin!
I have mentored over 50 students in 20+ different subjects. I have experience with grades 4th to 12th, undergraduates, graduate students, and industry professionals.
I guarantee improvement in your understanding of the material starting from our first lesson together. I am committed to my students' success!
My name is Gerardo M. I studied Mechanical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. I am a STEM-focused tutor that specializes in teaching all levels of math (AP included), science, academic test prep, and college level classes. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is my ability to communicate with my students. I identify areas that need improvement and figure out where the fundamental disconnect between the material and my student's understanding of it exists. In addition to tutoring, I have 7 years of experience in technology startups in the semiconductors and consumer electronics industries.
My philosophy is to teach my students to learn by intuition and logic rather than memorization. I emphasize teaching the fundamentals to build up a strong foundation of understanding. I believe this approach produces superior l
ong-term learning and enables my students to continue succeeding later in life.
Gerardo definitely knows a lot about Microsoft Excel. He taught me how to use pivot tables, create histograms, produce graphs of data, and he also helped me learn a few keyboard short-cuts to do my work more efficiently. Gerardo is a patient and effective tutor and I highly recommend him!

Gerardo helped me out in Calculus because I was truly struggling. I had a tough professor and I had not taken a math course in a couple of years. He did a great job at tutoring me through webcam and he was really patient with me. I would definitely recommend!

Gerardo helped me prepare for my AP Calculus AB test. I had trouble understanding certain concepts such as related rates and using integration to find volumes. He explained problems very clearly by going step-by-step, and making sure I understood the process every step of the way. I highly recommend Gerardo if you are looking for a math tutor.
With 10+ years of tutoring experience under my belt, I've developed a teaching style that is supportive and compassionate, but also no-nonsense. I help students work to the highest level of their capabilities, providing expert knowledge and encouraging them to be active participants in their learning.
I have a BS in Biology from the University of Minnesota as well as an MD from St. George's University. Given my background, I'm very comfortable tutoring in the areas of math and science. In addition, I have received specialized training on prepping for standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, GMAT, and MCAT and can help students navigate the ins and outs of these challenging exams.
Anthony is a thorough professional and devoted tutor. My teenage daughter, who is homeschooling and takes 1 or 2 intensive courses at a time, was able to swiftly move through the geometry material with the excellent instruction and guidance of Anthony as her teacher.

I have referred several students to Anthony in subjects ranging from AP Physics to ACT prep. He is highly skilled in the subjects he teaches. Just as importantly he is very empathic, and kids enjoy working with him. He is kind with them while still being able to keep them focused and on track.
I have been a science educator since 2008. My goal is to give you confidence that you can conquer physics! It's interesting science and, for me, helping you to experience that is important.
The aspect of physics that often makes a student nervous is math. I will help you with your math skills and with some tools that will help you do well in physics.
Learning physics can be a whole lot more interesting if you can have some fun while doing so. I use music, drawing, and even some outdoor activities to help my students master the knowledge of the world around them!
Thanks for considering me!
That is the word around which I build my tutoring.
I want my students to enjoy learning about science. I want them to see and understand why it's useful, how knowing it can help them, and how it can be fun.
To get there, I focus on three things:
First, I try hard to make sure that every student does not lose sight of the overall connection between the very specific, sometimes technical details she is learning and the overarching point of the science. That helps keep the subject interesting.
Second, I work to help the student master the quantitative aspects of science. High school teachers generally emphasize that kind of calculation to a pretty significant degree and, besides, nervousness over the math often gets in the way of enjoying the learning and a better grade!
Third, I strive to develop a strong working relati
onship with the student so that I get a better understanding of the ways that she or he best learn. I use videos, texts and written practice materials, sure, but I also use comics, music, drawing, outdoor activities, and even lab-style learning activities.
This variety helps to assure that a student has some fun while learning and to recognize that the sciences are exciting. If a student is encouraged to believe that, then she or he might not only improve their grade in science class. The student might just become open to some new dreams and, of course, gain alot more confidence.
I make myself available to email or text consultation with a student, with the parent's permission, outside of the regularly scheduled in-person meeting and I do not charge for that extra help.
Available to tutor for all high school level and most standard undergraduate courses in physics.
I am a US Navy submarine veteran and former field engineer with expertise on electro-mechanical systems who traded in his heavy tools for even heavier textbooks. Prior to leaving industrial fields, it was often a part of my job to train new personnel on equipment, maintenance practices, and documentation, which I really did enjoy and so I decided to become a teacher. Now I truly enjoy both teaching and learning. I am currently graduate student (again), now earning a Master of Science degree in astronomy and will likely continue with my PhD in astrophysics.
I have taught physics and chemistry at local high schools for the past 6 years and really enjoy the subject material, regardless of whether it is calculus-based or algebra-based. although I really do enjoy teaching mechanics and electricity the most. I always bring a good sense of
humor and positive attitude to all of my lessons and try to make physics interesting and fun.
Physics is everything, cause it studied the basics of everything and nothing. As a physics student that I am I love seeing students good in physics, it makes them good in almist every other thing. In my school I am the best with a G.P of 4.85 out of 5.00 . At least I can teach because I understand not just because I know. Try me.
My Name is Ezekiel Danjuma, am a student of Physics and Astronomy, You can call me Rahul Danj or simply Rahul. My friends usually refer to me as physics , but I prefer Rahul. Let me just say this: "do you know that relativity is just purely observation, besides, everything you see or experience is observation, but what about what you hear, feel, taste, and percieve can they be explained with relativity... What would length contraction and time dilation mean in terms of other senses other than eye. I Love physics, it is everything. I believe the study of physics should be fun not stressful and I always aim at relaxing the stress on physics students.
"Worked through each problem thoroughly so that I understood the question being asked and how to solve it."
"Awesome tutoring job: very detailed and really refreshed my Math for me as well within the Physics. She helped me through the class and its lab so I would
very highly recommend her."
"The first lesson went very well, thanks Alex!"
"Over the last six months, Daniel has been tutoring me on and off for my intro to physics course. I do not have a strong background in science or math, but
Daniel was always able to explain everything clearly and in detail. He knows how to answer your questions and really works hard to make sure you understand the material. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for help."
"Colin is very knowledgeable and helpful. He does an excellent job of teaching the concepts and has been more than helpful with specific word problems.
He is very thorough and has made additional concept videos to help my daughter understand physics concepts. We've appreciated his help. Thank you, Colin!"
"My experience with this tutor was great! Despite my schedule mishap the other day, he was considerate enough to reschedule. will see you next week with ma
"Rod is also very good at teaching physics. I was lost in class and he helped me immensely!"
"I feel compelled to share a great “find” I made last year. School had only been in session for two weeks before my kids came home lamenting that their AP
Physics teacher left them totally confused and stressed out. Switching to a less demanding schedule wasn’t an option so I decided to look for some help. Lord knows, it wasn’t going to come from me or my husband! I found Daniel, a 2012 UCLA engineering grad who has been tutoring for many years. After the boys’ first meeting with him, the level of stress in our household plummeted and the boys did well on their first physics test. They ended up with A's in the class and doing well on the AP exam. We’ve decided to have him come regularly, just to make sure the boys understand the material and keep them confident. Daniel is able to help them with anything they don’t get in their calculus class as well. So as you stare the next school year in the face, if your child has any difficulty with their studies, especially in math or physics, consider talking to Daniel. He’s a lovely young man and the boys really responded to him well."
"Super good at explaining why things worked and making sure that I knew how to do everything. Going into my test tomorrow with confidence that I will get a
