I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!

I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Sarah is professional, personable and patient. She helps me troubleshoot any technical mishap on my end to proceed with our lesson. She is always on time for our session and beyond the voice exercises, Sarah answers my questions about the connection between our anatomy and voice. She is attentive and gives me valuable insight. I felt immediately confident about my voice after one session.

I was really hopeful with seeing the videos and how she explained herself as an instructor on her profile.
sadly after the first lesson I was still a little hopeful but she showed up almost 15 minutes late to the lesson. With my daughter sitting there nervous and not knowing what's going on. this was not good. 😡
but not a big deal. So I was totally fine about that. The instructor did alright but was somewhat rude and negative and created awkward silences during this lesson. 😡 still not good but i was forgiving.
The second lesson she didnt even show up!! 😡😡😡
so she was sitting there for like 30 minutes trying to figure whats going on. not ok!!
i recommend this instructor to nobody!!!
beware of her because she seems nice but then will be rude and negative in the lesson.

Jonathan is truly outstanding. I was fortunate enough to meet him and begin working on guitar again with him in person when he lived in Virginia. He was so helpful I have continued lessons online and I continue to feel the quality and what I'm getting out of the lessons is as good as when we were able to be in the same room. The best thing I can probably say is that I have really enjoyed learning from such an accomplished musician while never feeling intimidated or thinking, "he must think I really stink at this!" He's very supportive and will make you a better player...whatever that means to you.

Hello,

With over 8 years experience in tutoring, I have learned what methods work and those that don’t. I’m upbeat, patient, easy going, empathetic, and generally well-liked by others. I’m very good at adapting to different learning styles and have a knack for eliciting the best out of my students through motivation and positive reinforcement.

Throughout university, and after, I mentored many students with great results. In addition to academics I helped them get the most out of their college experience. Everyone I helped benefited greatly, and one runs a very successful consulting business.

Aside from math and English, I’m a very proficient test and note taker. I speak conversational Spanish, and basic Japanese.

About Mitch

Whether you're completely lost, just need a little help, or need some test/note taking tips I can be very helpful. My patient, easy going, and positive mindset is very conducive to creating a great learning atmosphere. I can also be very useful to those that aren't motivated, I have a knack for fin

"We originally solicited Rod's support in order to help get our 8th grade daughter up to speed in math class. With high school rapidly approaching, we wanted to ensure that her footing was solid for the rigors of the high school curriculum. As the New York State testing approached, we asked Rod to take some time in the weekly sessions to work on test-taking skills and to do a bit of brushing up on skills that my daughter may run into trouble with. I had my daughter take last year's 8th grade state test (which I found a copy of online), and asked Rod to review her work and help address the learning gaps. Rod's approach was to help my daughter recognize that she actually did know how to do many of the questions that she answered correctly, and with helping her reframe some of the questions, she was able to recognize that the test was not in fact, blind siding her which did wonders for her confidence. Rod spent ample time discussion stress reduction techniques, both before and after the test. As an incredibly supportive gesture, he followed up with us after each of the test days in order to inquire as to how she did, and show she was feeling overall. Rod's contribution definitely helped alleviate her anxiety and bolstered her confidence. By the end of the test she felt confident that she had performed to the best of her ability."
