Fun, engaging, personalized, and productive, lessons with me are enjoyable and highly effective. As a professional piano teacher of 16 years and a classically trained pianist, teaching piano is my passion. I want the love of music, the feeling of accomplishment, and the ineffable joy of learning to play piano to be the reason my students want to practice piano and attend lessons.

The rapport between student and teacher is one of the most important factors of your First Class lessons. I consider it a priority that each student feel comfortable with me, feel at-home in my studio, enjoy their lessons, and develop a love and knowledge of music that will last a lifetime.

New concepts and homework/ practice assignments are explained and documented in easy-to-understand ways. Proper technique is stressed regardless of experience level or age. Lessons also include music theory and ear-training in addition to sight-reading.

Students have the opportunity to showcase their talent ...

About Trina
I'm a friendly, patient, enthusiastic, highly experienced piano teacher, joyfully instructing piano and music theory professionally since 1999. I truly enjoy sharing the gift of music with my students.

I have a Master's Degree in music theory & I'm a classically-trained pianist. I've been playing keyboard "by ear" from very early childhood, and took piano lessons at age 6 through high school. In college, I studied piano, music theory/history and psychology in addition to fieldwork and internships in music therapy. I have extensive experience working with students with special needs. In grad school, I specialized in classical piano.

Lessons with me are personalized. I focus on each student's personal musical needs and goals. Overall, I want the love of music to be the reason my students want to practice and attend lessons. I believe
the rapport between student and teacher is tantamount.

I want my students to develop a love of music that will last a lifetime.

Proper technique is stressed regardless of experience level or age.

I hold annual Student Piano Recitals at the end of the school year.

NYSSMA preparation offered for all levels. My students average score is "outstanding".

Trina approached my daughter very gracefully. My daughter has zero experience and she is very young. She still struggle with counting and some of fine motory skills, e.g. right fingers on the right keys. Trina customized the experience and kept her on the task, even my daughter was a bit stressed-out by the new experience. There is a lot of work ahead of us and with Trina's experience and patience, we hope to make slow, but solid progress.

With over 10 years teaching and performance experience, I can help you reach your piano goals. I teach students how to read music while including the basics of playing by ear. This will help them to be versatile musicians that can function in different arenas.

About Cindy
Regardless of where your musical interests lie, I can help you improve your skills! Growing up, I fell in love with playing and singing all styles of music! I've delved into classical, jazz, R&B, soul, gospel, reggae, soca, pop and musical theater, and I can teach you how to apply proper technique to the genre(s) of your choice!

If you're looking to become a better singer, we will focus on finding the beauty and power in your voice in a healthy manner. Vocal health is an important component of everything I teach, and I work to eliminate strain and vocal fatigue. We will work on balancing your vocal registers to give you control over the troublesome middle range. With a healthy foundation in place, we will fine tune your skills by addressing pitch accuracy, vocal control, phrasing, dynamics, expression and microphone technique.

If y
ou're interested in playing piano, you will learn how to read music and/or play by ear. You'll learn scales, chords, arpeggios, sight-reading, and basic music theory. For singers who are interested in piano, I've developed a great technique to teach you how to accompany yourself.

For songwriters, I can help you write stronger lyrics and set them to music appropriately.

In general, I'm pretty upbeat and fun. However, I expect you to practice. When you practice, you hear and feel the difference and everyone's happy! If you don't practice, you'll remain in the same place, and it's frustrating for everyone. :( Please, please, please practice! :)

My degree in music education and wide range of experience allows me to accommodate different learning styles. I have a knack for breaking down seemingly difficult or mysterious concepts in a way that's easy to understand. I also understand the demands of being a full time musician, and can offer advice to students who are interested in going that route.

I would love to help you enhance your enjoyment of music by making it fun and easy for you to learn!

When I first started taking singing lessons, I thought there was no way I could really ever be able to sing. Cindy has helped me to do things that I didn't think possible - sing in key, sing different notes, and relax and enjoy it. I would give her 6 stars if I could!

Cindy is no doubt the ONE when it comes to piano and voice lessons. I have had piano and vocal lessons with other previous instructors in the past, but often felt discouraged, misunderstood and frustrated. However, Cindy literally brought my passion for piano and singing back to life! She's extremely knowledgeable and passionate in her expertise, and she's FUN! I look forward to each and every lesson. I have been taking lessons with Cindy for almost a year now, it's the best decision I have made, and looking forward to many more. I've seen the improvement in both my piano and singing techniques, and learned so much. She is an inspiration to work with and committed to helping you achieve your goals as long as you put in the work and practice. Cindy is invested in your results and growth, once you start you can't stop.

The flute is a family of musical instruments in the woodwind group. Unlike woodwind instruments with reeds, a flute is an aero phone or reed less wind instrument that produces its sound from the flow of air across an opening. According to the instrument classification of Hornbostel–Sachs, flutes are categorized as edge-blown aero phones.[1][not in citation given] A musician who plays the flute can be referred to as a flute player, flautist, flutist or, less commonly, fluter or flutenist

As stated in my singing blurb, I started taking lessons when I was seven years of age, my mother being my first piano teacher. From that early age, I fell in love the instrument and know that I can help anyone who loves the piano, better understand and master the instrument.

About Lyle
I am a professional singer, pianist, and teacher of the two. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University Long Beach, and a Master of Music degree from University of California Los Angeles. During my study of those two degrees, I had marvelous teaching from some of the finest pianists, coaches, and voice teachers around. I can teach you how to sing with true passion, ease, and intent.

I began my study of the piano at the age of 7, my mother being my first teacher. I started on Alfred Piano Books, and still strongly believe in that same curriculum. From there I began to study classical composers like Chopin, Beethoven, Clementi, and Mozart. Although my love of classical music runs deep to my core, I love jazz, pop, and gospel music. I am happy to assist the learning of any style, anything that YOU are passionate for
. :)

With me, you can expect to make weekly progress in your instrument of choice. I am a dedicated performer and an even more dedicated teacher. To me, the two go hand in hand.

Please allow me the opportunity in teaching you and in turn I will give you all the knowledge I possess.

Lyle has a singing voice that will stun and amaze you when he sings in front of you. That will immediately put you at ease and motivate you to sing better using his techniques. His classical training has proven to be a great foundation for teaching me effective ways to understand, use and improve my voice. After 2 lessons I can already see a big difference in my singing abilities and I always learn many new things at each lesson. Lyle has a really open, friendly and non judgemental demeanor and this helped a lot with my nervousness. I can't wait for my next private lesson and would encourage anyone to book him for Broadway, classical and pop singing lessons.

We'll work on the ear as well as technique and theory together. In addition we'll begin to learn how to play written music on the piano, working level by level.

About Grady
My personal philosophy of music is to explore and learn as much from my students as I can teach them. For me teaching is like going on an adventure to find something together. I've been able to play all over the world and tour with many different musicians and the thing that made the core of every great performance was the human interaction and communication. For me music is about being more human. This is something I just as much try to impart and teach in my lessons as theory and technique.

Have fun and learn the joy of music through learning the piano with Natalie!

About Natalie
Hello, and thank you for your interest!

My name is Natalie, I am a teaching-artist originally from Sydney, Australia. I currently reside, perform and teach in the New York and greater New York area.

I am an award-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer who has toured internationally and an experienced educator. In 2016 I graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music with a Masters in Jazz Voice Performance. I received my Bachelor of Music from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australia.

“A teaching artist, by definition, is a two-career professional: a working artist and a working educator. As a working artist is they are involved in an ongoing process of discovery, problem solving, discipline and refinement of skills in their discipline. As a working educator, it is essential that the artist is al
so developing a knowledge base and skills to be an effective partner in education. Achieving a meaningful balance between these two professions, whereby one feeds the other, is an ongoing process that requires a deepening awareness for the teaching artist of what their teaching brings to their art and what their art teaches them about learning.”

I pride myself in creating a fun and safe learning environment in which I establish a firm musical foundation for my students. Lessons include: vocal scales and etudes, lyric interpretation, stagecraft skills, repertoire development and a foundation of the technical elements of the voice or instrument, and exploration and development of timbre, genres and music history. I teach a large variety of musical genres including jazz, pop, rock, rn'b, theater, reggae and classical music.

Simultaneously, my students cultivate many other skills while learning voice. Students enhance their understanding of music genres, their overall self-confidence and become self-sufficient and creative problem solvers. I am passionate about educating and empowering my students and I enjoy connecting with a wide array of musicians of all ages, playing levels and backgrounds.

Feel free to contact me to inquire about lessons, I hope to hear from you soon!

I am a classically trained pianist and Carnegie Mellon graduate. I have studied with renowned and respected pianists and educators, including Norman Krieger, Tereza Lee, Sergey Schepkin and Ralph Zitterbart. My goal is to pass on what I have learned from them, creating a synthesized approach that addresses your or your child’s needs. Moreover, I want to help you or your child build a foundation for playing the piano well, which involves learning fundamentals such as note reading, music theory, ear training and technique. Finally, and most importantly, I want you or your child to have fun playing the piano and making music!

About Josh
Josh began studying piano at age 16, an age generally considered late for a new piano student. Almost immediately, his teachers found that he had a natural ability to play the instrument at a high level. Tereza Lee, at the time a graduate piano student at the Manhattan School of Music, was Josh’s primary piano teacher and mentor, and helped him prepare for college, university and conservatory auditions. At age 18, after playing the piano for only two years, Josh received offers of admission from six conservatory programs to study piano performance, most notably from the Manhattan School of Music and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Josh chose to attend Carnegie Mellon, where in 2009 he was one of only three piano students to gain admission to the University’s School of Music. That same year, Josh became a Hadar Scholar, receiv
ing financial support from the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation to pursue his undergraduate music studies.

Josh graduated from Carnegie Mellon with University and College Honors. He also received a merit scholarship to study with pianist Sandra Shen at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, N.C., where he studied for three summers, and performed solo and collaborative piano repertoire. While there, he studied further with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music professor, pianist Norman Krieger. Josh’s teachers at Carnegie Mellon were Sergey Schepkin and Ralph Zitterbart.

Josh is currently on the faculty a school for Music and Art in Manhattan, where he teaches piano, and his private studio in West Orange, N.J, where, in addition to piano, he uses music as therapy to help students with disabilities.

Josh also offers private piano lessons. Josh reaches students in New York City, and Essex and Passaic Counties in New Jersey.
