*** Lesson Details *** With over 20 years teaching experience, Nick is patient with children & adults. He has a creative, unique pedagogy emphasizing hearing through singing, ear-training & natural, organic listening. Nick instills healthy absorption of music while students have fun learning their music, sight reading, internalizing with focus on rhythm and time. As a student, you will get to work on music that you, the student select as well as work on sight-reading, technique, ear-training. We will also work out of method books and use other sources of information.
*** Studio Equipment *** Chairs, music stands, instrument stands, classical foot pedals, classical guitar pillows, guitar amps, guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, drum set. Students usually provide their own instruments but it's possible to borrow an instrument during the lesson at the studio on the first lesson. (free street parking right in front!)
*** Specialties *** Nick's pedagogy emphasizes ear-training, singing, reading and truly hearing the music we are working on. Rather than rote teaching and guitar tablature, he instills natural listening, transcribing, sight-reading and proper technique. Lessons are always enjoyable as Nick observes each student's unique needs and listen's to their song preferences and musical goals. Students have the opportunity to learn pieces and genres they select and they are trained to figure out tunes by ear (ear-training) and transcribe.
-classical guitar and Brazilian guitar (nylon 6 string and nylon 7 string guitar) -acoustic steel string guitar, electric 6 string and electric 7 string guitar - jazz guitar + an eclectic mix of styles: blues, Brazilian music, Latin Jazz, Afro-Peruvian, Indian music, rock, heavy metal, funk, R & B, Motown, reggae + other genres. - tenor banjo (traditional jazz, jazz from New Orleans, Dixieland and world music) -5 string banjo (Earl Scruggs finger picking [bluegrass and country]) -tenor guitar -ukulele -mandolin -resonator slide/dobro. -lap steel -baritone resonator (slide)
This was my first lesson with Nick. He is a very nice guy. He created a calm, relaxed atmosphere in his studio, and he was clear when he gave me particular instructions. His knowledge of music theory in general, and of the five-string banjo in particular, was quite impressive. I would recommend him highly to both a beginner and to anyone (like myself) who is in need of a refresher course. I am very much looking forward to my next lesson.

Nick Russo is a fantastic tutor for kids and adults who would like to learn Ukulele, guitar, banjo or other instruments. He makes ‘learning fun’ he's friendly and cheerful. I don’t have any background in music but, Nick made it easy for me to understand the notes and how it works. I always look forward to every lesson. I Highly recommended Nick to everyone.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Nick now for a few months and it’s been a terrific experience — cannot say enough good things. Each lesson builds on the last and Nick tailors them to my ability and musical interests mixing in enough music theory, which makes learning both productive and enjoyable. Most importantly I feel like I’m beginning to understand how music works and not just blindly memorizing patterns or scales. I considered online courses before choosing Nick, but there’s no substitution for one-to-one instruction. Nick’s feedback and instruction are invaluable.
I was a little concerned about trying to pick up guitar in my early 40s, but its been a rewarding experience so far and I’m looking forward to more lessons with Nick.
We learn the minor and major pentatonic & blues scales in all postions on the guitar and in all keys. We also learn note for note solos by the blues masters. B.B. King, Buddy Guy,Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc. We discuss how to use this knowledge in your own solos.
I graduated Cum Laude from New York University, where I received a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar Performance. I have performed all styles of music on club dates, college shows, concerts, and recording dates.
I have also released a full length commercial recording of my original pop/rock music. Currently, I am teaching full time, performing, and composing.
I enjoy working with new students to develop their playing. My experience and teaching skills have yielded great results.
I learned a lot in my first lesson with Brian. He clearly knows the guitar inside and out. The pace was on the faster side, but he answered all my questions about technique and theory. Beyond what I wanted to focus on (technique), he's laying a solid foundation for theory so that I don't have go rely on the capo or online tabs as much. He also gave me useful scale exercises to build up finger independence and articulation. So far so good.

Brian was a great teacher! He I was well prepared and always on time. He was patient with me not remembering all the notes and simply said “it takes time” or “you’ll get it next time”.
Brianl loves music and shares that love in every lesson and in his overall teaching approach.

I started with Peter when I was 13 years old and continued taking weekly lessons until I was 19. In those 7 years Peter helped take my playing from an intermediate level to a near expert level. Our weekly meetings ranged from just learning new songs, music theory, or just jamming over backing tracks we would create. Peter is knowledgable in every form of music. In our years of lessons we enjoyed playing classic rock, blues, jazz, classical, and gypsy jazz. Peter was able to walk me teach me through the beginning levels of Music Theory.
Most importantly through our 7 years together, became was able to take me from a very shy musician to someone who was very confident on stage playing at different bars. Peter went from being a teacher to a very close friend as he helped me grow. Although I do not take lessons with him anymore due to being away at college, I keep in touch with Peter every time I am home.
I would highly recommend Peter to anyone at any level guitar playing. He has the patience someone needs if you're just starting out and the expertise to help take even some of the best players to the next level.

Peter I’ve played guitar for 30 years and since playing under your guidance I feel I have rediscovered my own nstrument..... I truly thank you....
Lessons are based around each individual student's music goals. Simple practical methods for understanding and developing the fundamental skills needed to play songs you love and want to perform are the focus of each lesson. Teaching and performing music are what I'm passionate about. I have over twenty years of teaching experience with beginners and advanced students and have developed a curriculum that really works for all levels and styles while keeping things fun!
I'm an experienced teacher with a background as a full time performing musician. Music was a big part of my life from an early age and I've stuck with it pursuing it as a career path. I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance and since have been teaching and performing. The focus of my music career has always been playing original music with bands but teaching has always been something I've loved too.
I've formally studied both classical and jazz while playing in rock bands and learned to see the similarities in all forms of music. My favorite thing to teach people is songs they love and how to use the fundamentals of music to make playing their songs fun. Writing practical simple charts that show how songs work opens music up for people in ways they didn't think possible. Playing an
d singing together for the first time or finally having the light bulb moment when reading music makes sense is something magical. It's an amazing feeling and helping people learn how to makes me happy.
I've been teaching music for over twenty years and look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with new students.
I've been working with Brian for four months now and have made excellent progress on guitar. Brian quickly adjusted to my experience level and has done an outstanding job of removing long-standing bad habits and reinforcing the good ones. He has a fresh approach which ensures students don't get bored and, best of all, instills confidence and a good stage presence. I'm on my way to being a better guitar player but more importantly, a better musician. I recommend Brian without reservation.

Brian has been great , he patiently provides simple tangible explanations for both guitar play and music theory. He is building a solid foundation for my musical growth and more importantly supporting and enhancing my love of music. I give Brian my highest recommendation, he's a natural teacher
Hi there, I'm Dan. I've been playing guitar as my main instrument for 16 years, as well as Bass, Ukulele, Piano, and Vocals. Music is my passion, and I cannot imagine a better way of devoting my time than spreading the gift of this amazing craft.
I've been giving one-on-one musical instruction since 2012, beginning at the Oceanside School of Music and then transitioning to private lessons. I pride myself on the ability to cater each lesson to every student's individual needs, tastes, and goals. Someone once told me, "the goal of the teacher is to make themselves obsolete," and I couldn't agree more. Whether you've never picked up a guitar before or want to perfect your already advanced technique, I'll be here to make sure you achieve your goals and have fun learning.
I am a working performer, singer-songwriter, and guitar player. I currently am the songwriter and frontman of a regularly gigging band and have been leading this project since 2014.
I have years of extensive jazz and music theory training on guitar and bass.
Hi there, I'm Dan and I hope to meet you soon! I've been playing guitar as my main instrument for 16 years, as well as bass, ukulele, piano and vocals. Music is my passion, and I cannot think of a better way of devoting my time than to spreading the gift of this amazing craft.
I pride myself on my ability to cater every lesson to each student's individual needs, goals, and taste in music. A wise teacher of my own once told me, "the goal of the teacher is to make themselves obsolete," and I couldn't agree more. Whether you've never picked up an instrument before or want to
perfect your already advanced technique, I'm here to ensure you achieve your goals and have fun learning.
"There's guitar teachers and then there's William! Being a classical guitar player himself, he is meticulous and precise when it comes to his instruction.
He is exceptional in teaching students how to play guitar the correct way. He formulates his lessons to be student specific, and keeps record of the students progress. With William, you will learn how to crawl before you learn how to run, and you will learn it the right way, and will be a better musician because of his instruction and dedication to his students, which is the backbone to his dedication to music."
"Ahmad is patient, extremely knowledgeable, and has an ease about his teaching style that makes learning fun and effective. I highly recommend him to the n
ovice and the advanced guitar player. You'll be playing beyond your expectations in less time than expected. Theory, composition, anecdotes, and practical advice. His knowledge is backed by decades of professional experience --- teaching and performing. Highly recommended!"
"Dave is very knowledgeable and will work with you in any genre or style of music. As an older student I felt totally comfortable with Dave from the very
first notes struck. I would highly recommend Dave to anyone wishing to improve their guitar skills....but dont expect to be playing like Clapton immediately! My only issue is the long drive from Vero Beach to his studio. Something to take into consideration."
"Ryan has definitely opened up my perspective with regard to learning my instrument and "hearing" tonal options for music I like to play. I'm a working Da
d with very limited time for lessons and practice, so an online learning platform has worked best for me. Ryan has been very accommodating and flexible. More than that, he's been extremely patient with my learning style. In addition to opening up my instrument for me, he's fostered a passion for learning guitar and a taste for new music that I may not have listened to/learned otherwise. I love music and because of Ryan, I've found a very heartfelt, almost tangible, passion for playing it. Ryan...thank you!!"
"I started taking lessons with Ahmad a couple of months ago and would recommend him for anyone who wants to learn guitar"
"Heading into my first class with Tim, I had almost no musical experience (at least for the last 15+ years). In a very casual way, he was able to get a sen
se of where I was and where he should start with my instruction.
I was very reluctant to take lessons at first, but my wife got me started with Tim and it was really worth it. He was accommodating to my relatively slow speed of learning and easily adapted to my own musical preferences and interests.
His studio is a great space and is located within a really cool, historic building. The sound is fantastic and it's a comfortable space to practice in.
I highly recommend Tim for lessons - especially for adults who may not be able to dedicate hours a day to practicing. I took lessons weekly for three months and I got a great foundation for practicing. Once my life settles down a little, I definitely hope to go back."
"John is teaching me guitar music theory. I like his relaxed and VERY patient style."
"Great guy to work with. If you have been playing for a while and the playing is getting no where. See Ahmad! He has tips that will make you a better playe
"Nils is very knowledgeable and can help you with growing as a guitar player. He can help you have a better understanding of theory and how to apply it, kn

Ready to get started with learning blues chord progressions? Here's an intro by Austin, TX guitar teacher Samuel B...
In order to properly respect and understand both the theory and structure of ANY kind of American music, it's essential to be able to play the blues. Although the form is said (by some scholars) to have originated in Africa within the story-telling traditions of village griots (historians/poets/musicians who would play a five-stringed instrument known as the halam, which …
