Welcome! My name is Toshi M. I was born in Hiroshima City and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
I am a veteran Japanese language tutor with over 15 years of experience. I teach people of all ages (from 2 to 85 years old) from all over the world, both in person and through online platforms.
I am currently working with a new project through Google called, "Ok Glass." It's a data collection project that leads to the betterment of Google products for voice search capabilities in their Google search engine, Chrome software and Google Glass. Google has chosen me to record, translate and transcribe for these projects within the Japanese division!
***Please read my entire page including the Cancellation, reschedule and late Policy carefully before purchasing lessons!!***
My tutoring policy is not just simply to teach the Japanese language as
a Japanese. No, I always want to teach students more than the language.
If you are interested in the Japanese traditions as well as the language and traditions, then that is a good start for learning. Fun, interest and enjoyment are the best tools for learning with my tutoring.
You will not only be able to speak Japanese, but you will grasp the traits of the Japanese language, traditions, history, culture, and, most importantly, the uniquely Japanese styles of courtesy and customs simultaneously!
I teach practical Japanese so you can actually communicate and exchange proper responses with real Japanese with a sense of smooth conversation. My teaching method varies depending on the student's level.
Are you struggling?
Perhaps you went to a Japanese language school, but when you saw Japanese anime or movies you still did not understand? Then you wondered WHY, didn't you! After all, you paid so much money for school!
Here is the answer: most of the school are not teaching true and complete Japanese! Yes, they are teaching proper Japanese very well. but it only works for some test like a JLPT or speaking at work.
The SECRET is that Japanese people do not speak proper Japanese all the time. They usually speak casual, informal Japanese when they are talking with friends and family, and there are gender differences in spoken Japanese!
Japanese movies and anime cartoons, manga, are mostly stories of friends and family, NOT stories of formal work.
That is why you need to know proper Japanese and casual, informal Japanese both! The Japanese culture and language have customs and orders which you must know and understand completely!
I teach both of these structures at the same time. You need to know when and how to change from proper verbs to casual, informal verbs, and then you will begin to understand the Japanese anime and movies!
I am very strong in teaching proper Japanese, including reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. If you are only interested in JLPT Training (any level) or AP Japanese Language and Culture, we can certainly work with that.
However, I also teach business Japanese, word beautification, gender differences in spoken Japanese, proper and casual conversations, polite language, humble language, and respectful verbs. This is necessary for improving your personal and business relations!
I also teach Japanese slang along with many other aspects of the Japanese culture. Whatever you need or want to learn, I am here to assist you!
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can tutor you in private lessons at your computer. I am experienced with teaching all levels and all ages!
I give a fun, relaxed lesson and work to teach the precise and gentle true Japanese way in a friendly and open-minded one-on-one session or group lessons via Skype.
I believe you will find everything you need, because I am focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction. I will do everything I can to meet your expectations, and with a variety of offerings to choose from, I am sure you will be happy working with me!
I also teach ORIGAMI (Japanese art of paper folding), Japanese Calligraphy, how to make SUSHI, and how to hold the Japanese Traditional Tea Ceremony, How to make healthy Japanese foods. I am able to give you information about J-POP and traditional Japanese songs as well. We can have fun with those, too.
If you would like to have a lesson once per week or twice per week, let's discuss the possibilities!
I do not usually set up a specific 10-hour or 20-hour plan, because it all depends on the student's level.
I then find the best speed for each student. At that point, if you want to stop at 10 hours, that is fine, and you can stop! Or, if you want to continue to do the class, you can continue. You may stop at 8, 15 or 30 sessions... whatever is best for you!
Do you want to speak Japanese for a few conversations... or do you want to speak Japanese fluently? Or perhaps you want to take a Japanese Language Proficiency Test or AP Japanese Language and Culture Test? That all depends on your achievement!
You can let me know if you want to continue or not anytime! Let's go from there!
If you have any questions about my tutoring, please feel free to contact me through TakeLessons.com.
Hope to see you soon, I look forward to lesson with you! :)
Have an awesome day and God Bless!

If you do not reach me within the 24 hour period, you will be charged for the lesson. (You must contact me 24 hours in advance or else you will be charged for the lesson. Very informative easy to work with... Had I found him!!
I can't wait to work with you! I am passionate about the subjects I teach, and find nothing can compare to seeing a student "get it", so they may too enjoy the passion that comes from learning and doing something they love.
Everything I teach I've learned most completely by doing as a Professional, and find great reward in sharing my experience and knowledge with my students.
When the "aha" light goes on, it's truly a wonderful moment for me, and encourages me to drive my students to build towards more of those moments as students, and then ultimately, for themselves as they learn to grow for themselves.
Richard is so patient and knowledgeable. I am very happy with our lessons. Because of my background with classical guitar he wondered if the fact that he doesn't read music and I am renewing my mind back into it would not be a good teaching set-up. Not at all. I now have an electric guitar and the five years spent playing classical, now fifteen years ago, did not give me a good foundation for understanding music theory unfortunately. I have a genre I had already picked out fingerstyle electric and now with some thinking my way through the basics I did have I still need to learn just basic strumming etc. I understand what he is referring to in music so we still speak in the same key. Also and lastly my daughter has a severe seizure/dementia disorder that is very unpredictable and our caregiver's mom just passed away so there will be times when I just can't do a week/day. He has been very understanding. I am smiling from my soul because music is my healing path for difficult stuff I couldn't pay any doctor/therapist to even call me back for. Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely Teresa

Thanks again for your time and info yesterday. I will email you soon, and we will figure out when we should meet for our next class.
I am a fashion designer/instructor and former social worker. I am very patient with students and passionate about sewing. I get excited watching students build skills gradually from basic through advanced level techniques. Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" sewing, which is sewing without ready-made (commercial) pattern, like our grandparents did. As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For 9years now, I've been teaching at a fabric store in East Harlem where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach garment construction, alterations, home decor, and various sewing projects.
I enjoyed the session very much. The teacher was thorough and organize. The lesson was presented clearly and was easy to understand. I learned a lot in just 2 hours; looking forward to the next class

We couldn't have imagined a more excellent instructor for our daughter. Lily has such a kind and pleasant demeanor. She is intelligent, patient, and is literally the best teacher that I have seen work with my daughter.
I give Lily my highest recommendation and always look forward to her coming and teaching my daughter. The relationship that they have formed is invaluable, beyond sewing. We are so appreciative and grateful to her.

Lily is very kind and knowledgeable. She was able to give constructive advice on projects I was having trouble with. Going to continue with her.
I encourage adults, youth and kids to create fashion, learn to design, create their ideas and develop them from creative training. Generations inherited, since I was a little girl, more than 20 years as a job, long experience doing what I love most... Creating fashion but the best and important it is to teach what I learned in my life.
I loved how she was soo detailed with it. And it wasn’t rushed she took her time to explain everything. If I was ever lost she would guide and I appreciate it.

When I first began my search for an acting coach I was stressed out because I knew I needed help but I didn't know how to start. Luckily I found the Director, Omar. The Director began by interviewing me to see what my goals and potential were. He then developed a specific lesson plan designed around what he called "The Fundamentals" and I progressed since then. Now after a few months of the Directors support, I know confidently that I am an Actor. I learned things about human behavior and method acting that I couldn't find in any video or online source. The Director somehow made things simple to understand and I'm glad for it. I am not done with the lessons, but since he has supported me and shared his knowledge, the least I can do is share my experience. Thank you Director!
I was born in Vietnam and just came to America 2 years ago. Teaching is my passion, both Vietnamese and Crocheting . My students said that I am very patient, enthusiastic and responsible! And the improvement of students is my happiness!
Bruce learned the game of chess in the late 60's, becoming a "Fischer Kid" during the 70's. In high school, he easily captured the team championships and represented his school until graduating in 1976.
He taught some of his fellow students to play and improve in their games during this time and enjoyed sharing his joy of the game with others. Although life has sent him in many directions career-wise, he has never strayed far from chess.
In addition to chess, Bruce has played semi-pro football and is also now a dance instructor. His understanding of working with body and mind to create the best you makes him a unique choice in mentoring young students about chess and life in general. His enthusiasm for life and the activities he teaches are contagious and he hopes that each of his students enjoy the time with him enough to "pass
I am a law student currently looking to do some extra work and make a little money on the side. I began to crochet about three and a half years ago, picking up a how-to book, a hook, and some yarn from my local Micheals. I wanted something to do with my hands while watching TV aside from playing Minecraft for the thousandth time, and crochet became the answer.
Crochet is an excellent hobby, especially for a person with ADHD like myself. It allows me to occupy my hands when doing something else, while at the same time creating creative and useful. It can also be a great stress reliever, allowing you to get lost in the repetitive, almost mindless motions of the hook and yarn.
I look forward to meeting with you and passing on the knowledge I have acquired.
"Ms. Renee is very calm and patient with me. I can’t wait to continue more lessons with her"
"My son has recently started learning from Siddharth sir. He likes it alot.
Siddharth is a very good teacher."
"This crochet studio and teacher is soooo nice! I have been to three other locations, the teachers there didn't seem to be capable of what they were doing,
and there studio set up made me feel as if I was about to get robbed. This classroom made me feel comfortable with a homely like setting. looking forward to taking more classes. Her teaching technique is great!"

"Victoria was very knowledgable and friendly. She guided my daughter and I through the process of understanding the basics of starting a sewing project. We
learned how to use a pattern to make a pair of pants and as a result discovered what works and what doesn't.
We were excited to have someone who understood our needs and was able to answer all of our questions."
"A lot to absorb for a first lesson."
"Renee is a fantastic teacher! She is great at what she does and I’m so thankful she was able to teach me. I have two little kids and just grateful about h
ow understanding she was on some of the projects I’m working on. Im impressed with her background in fashion and so excited to put what I learned into practice!"
Interested in trying your hand at jewelry design? Before you begin, consider the following 5 questions, as outlined by Nashville jewelry designer and teacher Warren F...
Susan felt very unsure of herself. And unsure of her jewelry. Would people like it? Was the color mix appropriate? Was the construction secure? Was the price smart and fair? She allowed all this uncertainty to affect her design work – she had difficulty finishing pieces she was working on, starting new projects, and getting …
