FAQ

Is German hard to learn?

No. German has straightforward grammar and subject-verb agreement, making learning easier than most other languages. For native English speakers, the similarities and roots of many common words and sentences may surprise you with how much easier learning German is than languages that don’t come from the same family tree.

In fact, the closest common language to English is Frisian, a dialect of German spoken in the southern fringes of the North Sea and parts of the Netherlands.

So what’s the best way to learn German?

The best way to learn any language is through total immersion in the language, i.e., living in an area where the language is the only form of communication. If immersion is not an option, taking structured classes that teach the fundamentals, comprehension, and conversational skills is the easiest way to learn.

At TakeLessons, our online German lessons are crafted to help each of our students maximize their learning experience and language proficiency.
