Bachelor of Horn Performance and Music Education from The Eastman School of Music
Teaching since 2014
I teach hornists of all ages, and have been teaching privately for 6 years! I have a music education and horn performance background and teach based off the learning styles that best meet a student’s needs. I have experience with teaching young and mature beginners, elementary-high school, and college. I love helping students prepare for college auditions and exploring different options as to how music can be a part of their life. A unique process I love for teaching : using my students’ favorite song or artist to build fundamentals on the horn!
I have been playing the horn for 11 years! I have an undergraduate degree in Horn performance and music education from the Eastman School of Music where I was also nominated for and won a Performance Certificate. I continued on to become the teaching assistant for the Pennsylvania State University (

Hi, I'm Zak! I'm guessing you're here because you love singing. Well, so do I!
I've played piano on Broadway for Wicked, Mean Girls, Motown, and The Color Purple, and have vocally coached multiple Broadway actors. What makes singing lessons with me unique is that I am also a vocal coach. I focus not only on healthy technique and exciting repertoire; I also focus on Acting While Singing. This is a skill that often falls by the wayside - we act until the song starts, then just stand there singing. I've heard many top directors say they'd rather cast an actor who sings than a singer who acts (meaning, they prefer acting talent to singing talent). Acting While Singing is what takes a performance to the next level. Like Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton and In The Heights, and Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen, truly transformative performances come about because the actor is so fused with the character that we can't tell who is who.
