Ashwini assumed that I was married upon meeting her, and asked me when I was getting married as soon as she learned I wasn't married. She also asked where I was getting married, even though at the time I wasn't engaged. Even when I made it apparent I wasn't engaged, she continued to refer to my boyfriend as my fiance.
She would send me political things going on in India, even though I have no interest, and it has nothing to do with the lessons I was taking from her. She asked me if my boyfriend was voting, and many personal things that shouldn't be asked of a student learning Hindi.
She often moved my scheduled time around without asking, which meant that I needed to move my schedule around in order to attend her sessions.
As a teacher she was pretty good, but some things disappointed me there too. For instance, I made a sentence in which a jeweler was a woman, and she stated that can't be correct, because there are no woman jewelers. I'm a woman engineer, and it's really sad to see such a sexist thing. Even when I attempted to ask about how you would say something about a woman jeweler, she said it was impossible. Later she said nurses could only be woman.

I want to tap into that part of you that is on the prowl to answer the “ how’s and why’s”. That is where our journey will unfold. I aspire to nurture a creative and inclusive culture in my sessions.
I don't teach. I LEARN! Learning is an infinitely satiating experience for me. We will laugh, ponder, explore and even pull our hair out from frustration. That's okay because we'll do it all together. Making mistakes is a beautiful test of your resilience and will help to solidify your competencies from your hands-on experiences.
Visualizing your goals as a whole is the basis of my teaching approach. I implore my resources to reconcile the challenges of online learning to foster communication, inclusion, and interaction online. I aspire to forge a rappo
rt that grants your trust and belief in your ability to express your ideas. It is always a bit sad to say goodbye to students, but them walking away with strong foundations, developed skill sets and the ability to expand on them in the future is what I support.
I’ve logged 1,000 hours online in 1-on-1 group sessions with a 9.65 average rating. For my consistency, I was selected to teach the Oxford University Press Children Series. Being inspired by and delighting in shared experiences with my students ignites my addiction to teaching.
I’ve seized volunteer opportunities as a Teaching Assistant with after-school, summer and other teaching programs. I’m a big believer in being proactive. In addition, 8 years in Home Health with adults and children with physical and mental disabilities has had an overwhelming influence on my philosophies toward communication and personal kinships.
Music is an immense passion of mine that continually lavishes me with a wealth of transferable skills to explore creative solutions. I’ve done this by appropriating IPA, vocal pedagogy and my opera background to tackle diction issues. Working with Music and Drama Therapists in Barrier Free Theater acting troupe for adults with physical and mental disabilities to brainstorm and stage a musical starring them, has given me insight into the benefits of group collaboration and preparedness. This is at the heart of my communicative approaches.

I took lessons with Rahny last year. She helped me to refine my essay writing skills. I had never written an essay before. I’d never had a portfolio before either, but it has come in handy in more ways than I ever could’ve imagined. I’ve referenced the materials on vocabulary, pronunciation and essay writing exercises a dozen times. She still takes the time to answer some of my questions.

Thanks for all your patience even though I was running late. I was all ready to cancel my lesson, but you encouraged me to keep my goals in mind and keep moving forward. I loved that you adjusted the material accordingly and worked through the homework together with me. I look forward to our next session. :)

Rahny is very interesting in her approach. It is great how she goes about sharing ideas, extending the discussion and engaging with me and the content. She brings so much liveliness to the class. The texts are very good, practical and related directly to my goals of wanting better communication with my colleagues.
Hello! My name is Jenny and I am an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified and Illinois-state licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) (also known as a speech therapist) with a Master's degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from the State University of New York at Buffalo. I graduated with a 3.93/4.0 GPA while completing an elective Master's thesis. I've been a speech therapist since 2012, and one of my career areas of specialty is speech, which makes me well qualified to help you on your path to accent reduction.
I am certified in the Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL) Program, a program created by Dr. Arthur J. Compton, and utilize this program and my years of experience as a speech-language pathologist to create your individualized accent reduction program.
Where do you want to
be in a few short months? Do you want more successful communication, to feel more confident conducting a business meeting, lecturing to students, speaking to customers, or communicating with patients, to be able to joyfully converse without worrying if your accent is detracting from your message... and to save time by speeding up your results through personal, individualized instruction with a program tailored specifically to your individual speech patterns?
Here's your path: 1) You'll begin by taking an accent assessment, so I can listen to your speech/accent and determine what sounds are different than the sounds in American English and structure an individualized program for you. 2) We then work together for 13 weeks, for one hour sessions per week. All sessions will include practice work so that you can be well on your way to achieving an accent that is closer to American English. 3) Your practice work is all online for you - you'll have an online practice portal that you keep for the rest of your life to return back to and refresh as much as you'd like.
I am passionate about accent reduction because I want my clients to be able to succeed in the paths they choose in life, uncover their most promising futures, and discover what their lives can be.
My name is Jacqui, and I am a licensed speech-language pathologist and member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. I have a diverse background in public speaking, voice disorders, autism, traumatic brain injury, stroke recovery, swallowing and pediatric therapy programs. As a licensed speech-language pathologist, my clinical background specializes in speech mechanics, voice and resonance.
I believe the greatest individual success can be achieved when your voice can be heard. I understand that communication barriers and one’s voice image cause limitation for students, leaders and companies. My training programs provide the necessary tools and skill sets that position professionals to communicate clearly and confidently.
My accent modification programs are designed to provide solutions to reduce your communication barrie
rs quickly and speak with greater clarity and confidence. You will notice improvement in just 2-3 weeks with consistent practice. I will provide tools for you to practice throughout your day so you can exercise your new speech at work, home, and in the community. My goal is to empower you as a professional to speak with a voice reflective of a confident leader. I look forward to our communication journey together!
Jacqui was very friendly, thorough and helped me reach my goals in a timely matter. I would highly recommend her and return again for any future needs that arise !
May 20, 2019
Jacqui is an excellent speech therapist and instructor. I learned so much from each lesson she gave me. I can't thank her enough for the confidence she gave me in my speech, as public speaking is critical for my new career. Not to mention, her outgoing personality made the experience fun. Thank you!
May 19, 2019
I was worried about using an online service for accent reduction but with my schedule I didn’t have another option. After working with Jacqui, I only wish I acted sooner. Jacqui was flexible with her availability and the results speak for themselves. My clients and I can now focus on the task at hand. No more “What? Could you repeat that?”!

For the passé composé, however, if you only know how to form it with avoir as the auxiliary verb (le verbe auxiliaire), watch out! When expressing certain actio …
