I've played guitar since I was only eight years old (over 20 years!) in many different bands, styles, and genres. I played in a traditional Irish ensemble when I was in college and have since picked up banjo, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, and bodhran (Irish hand drum). I've also helped teach group violin classes in music programs in Orlando, FL and NYC. I love playing and teaching bluegrass music, it's a special challenge both for me and the students!

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums. I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is wh

Hi, there! My name is Krisztina and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2010. Ms.Krisztina is a joy to work with. My girls started with her at 5 & 6 and she worked so well with them. She has kept their interest since and has introduced new concepts in a way that isn’t overwhelming, but enjoyable and fun. She has a lot of patience with them and has a skill for drawing their attention to the violin & music.

Violin or viola, Krisztina was a very caring and nicest teacher I have ever had. Unlike myself she was always on time. Her friendliness made every lesson more fun while she really cared about her students and always been honest with her comments.

I would highly recommend Krisztina. She truly likes teaching violin. She goes beyond the call of duty. For example, she sends emails with her or other musician videos for practice at home, works over the allotted time if needed and if she is able to, sends texts and responds promptly.
My daughter was beginning to say she was getting less interested in violin and before I could say anything, Krisztina made my daughter excited about it again with new things to learn.
There is nothing negative to say. She is an excellent teacher.

I teach fiddle lessons primarily by ear as I think it's important to retain the aural tradition. My specialty is Irish and Scottish styles, but I also love Quebecois and Cape Breton tunes. I grew up playing Old Time and Bluegrass and have a solid foundation in those styles as well.

We'll learn repertoire and work on developing a stylistically appropriate technique (bowing, groove, lilt, ornaments).

Learning chords and how to provide basic accompaniment can be a fun and empowering approach as well!

About Emily

A product of fiddle camps, late night jam sessions, and extensive Bach technique, Emily Moore is at the forefront of an emerging scene of contemporary violin players. A third generation Southern California native, Emily was drawn to the violin almost immediately upon discovering its existence, and

I teach beginner bluegrass fiddle using an approach designed to help students be able to learn both by ear and with sheet music, and to prepare to play with other musicians or attend bluegrass jams, as well as play with good technique and posture. I teach children age 6 and older, and adults, and welcome adult beginners. Margaret is a wonderful instructor who provides excellent teaching. I really appreciated that she made a point of not only explaining how to hold the bow, the violin, etc, but also explaining why it's important to use certain positions and posture and how it all comes together as one continues to practice. She's also super friendly and how's a very positive and welcoming demeanor.

"I am so glad that I took lessons from Ashley! I had been playing for about a year and a half when I started my lessons in January of 2018. We had hour-long sessions once a week for about a year, but the time always felt too short! We usually learned about a song a week, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on how quickly I picked it up. Since I could already read sheet music, I mostly learned by ear, and Ashley did a wonderful job with slowing the songs down and helping me repeat them until I could play by memory. Now, I'm really glad I learned through ear training because it's an invaluable skill to have! I also really enjoyed playing harmony with her -- so cool. She always had songs hand-picked for me to learn, or, if there was a song that I really wanted to be able to play, she would help me with that one. Ashley is the best -- such a sweet, patient, and encouraging teacher! She even offered to have me play with her on stage! If you have the chance, take lessons from Ashley!!!"

"What a wonderful and enthusiastic teacher! My daughter has had fiddle lessons for 2 years in person, and to finally cut down on our two-hour commute I suggested on-line lessons. The computer had a few connection issues on our end that we will definitely iron out before our next session. Lucky for us, Kathleen worked patiently through the connectivity bumps and gave a very upbeat, challenging lesson with all the backup sheet music, recording, and plenty of thumbs up to keep my daughter motivated and practising. We are very happy we "found" Kathleen and highly recommend her as an instructor!!"

"Laura is sweet, smart, personable, patient, and has achieved miracles with my daughter. My daughter has a short attention span and is very impatient with most things, and has quit other classes we've tried. Not with Laura. She has just the right mix of patience and encouragement, and it's one of the only courses my girl genuinely wants to go back to every week. Most of that is due to her amazing teacher. Thanks, Laura!"

"Laura has been a great teacher for my 6 year-old daughter (starting taking lessons when she was 5). She is endlessly patient and has a perfect balance of fun and instruction in all her lessons. She helped us every step of the way--picking out the right rental instrument, finding extra workbooks that would be fun, coming up with ways to make practicing at home enticing. Laura is made to be a fiddle teacher--she has a obvious passion both for the music and sharing it with her students. My daughter left every lesson with Laura beaming with pride. I'd recommend anyone searching for a teacher to go with Laura!"

What's the Difference Between the Violin and Fiddle?

Is that a fiddle... or a violin? It's a common question, and one that baffles many beginner musicians. So what's the answer? When it comes to the actual instrument, there actually aren't any differences. What distinguishes a violin from a fiddle is what kind of music you're playing with it. A musician playing folk, bluegrass or country, for example, would most likely refer to their instrument as a fiddle; those who play other genres (jazz, classical, etc.) typically call theirs a violin. …
