We love Frixos! He is a wonderful teacher and person. We were unsure how online classes would go, but it’s been great. Frixos has done an excellent job of teaching our granddaughter. He makes it easy for her to learn, yet still challenges her.

I have taught music lessons to dozens of students, from age four to forty-four, in five states over the past decade. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, and am a card-carrying member of the American Music Teachers Association (AMTA). My method, and teaching style, is based in a strong foundation of music theory, and the big concepts. I want my students to come away from my lessons, even after only a year, with an understanding of functional harmony, and sight-reading. I am less interested in just learning by rote memorization, and want to impart to my students an internalized understanding of the music they are performing.

My method allows for pianists to quickly move into other instruments, as the concepts are universal. All that being said, I do also take a keen interest in piano technique and traditional pedagogy. If you are interested in learning to read, write, and think in music, I am the teacher for you.

About Michael

I began singing in school choirs and playing piano when I was still in elemetary school. By the time I graduated high school, I was teaching lessons and hosting jam-sessions for friends and classmates. I played for tips in local coffee-houses and taprooms, as well as accompanying my high-school's ja

"When I began lessons with Julie, I had piano experience, but it had been years, 35 actually, that had flown by. I've recently retired, and enjoy playing piano up to two hours each day. I chose Julie because of her expertise and experience. Julie is an outstanding teacher who possesses a legitimate love for music. She has a patient ability with simplifying complex subjects and makes learning fun. I hope to continue taking lessons with Julie for a long time to come. I would recommend Julie to anyone, at any age, interested in piano regardless of skill level."

"In the last few months, I have progressed considerably. Bill helped me be more confident on my playing, and to rely on sheet music rather than memorization, which was what I used to do. This in turn allowed me to learn many pieces in parallel, and be exposed different types of pieces. He also helped me learn an anime song that I wanted to learn despite it being slightly out of reach for my level."

How to Improvise on Piano and Keyboard | Exercises to Try

Forgo the sheet music and try your hand at improvising! Get started with this exercise from Tucker, GA teacher Linda L...   Improvising, in music, is making up your own music on the spot. It is truly “playing with” music, in the more common sense of the word “play.” It’s fun, creative, and, well, playful. When it comes to piano improvisation, I tend to think of jazz, blues, and rock. But one can definitely improvise in any musical style. There is a lot you can learn wh …
