Every student has their own way of learning, and I will find that way! The beginner is brought through the traditional, classic method. But then I branch into modern styles, helping the student to find an original voice and perform music that resonates with today's listening audience. Together, we will explore American music that brings the intermediate and advanced student to understand blues and jazz improvisation, as well as composition.

About Paul

Motivation to practice is the key. Working with the parents, I like to make the lesson fun for the student, while getting the student to work hard and to keep them focused on success. Both current and former students and their parents are eager to provide references. I've taught all ages; in mu

Jazz piano and general piano lessons taught by a New York conservatory-trained pianist.

Alex Sjobeck holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado where she taught collegiate classes while obtaining her degree. She has taught semester-long classes as well as master classes at universities and high schools across the United States and has been teaching private piano lessons to both young and adult students for over a decade. Her knowledge of music is shown through her thriving teaching career as well as her performance career which has led her to record several albums and perform at acclaimed jazz clubs across the United States such as the Velvet Note in Atlanta, GA, and Dazzle in Denver, CO.

About Alex

At a young age, pianist Alexandra Sjobeck’s distinctly captivating style led her to move from Idaho to New York to immerse herself in New York City’s jazz scene. Her unique sound is comprised of a voice all her own which relies on nuanced intricacies in both her arrangements and improvisation paire

I felt very comfortable with her. She was very patient and gave clear instructions on what to work on for next time.

Alex is very patient and able to adapt to her students. I studied with her for a year and also got to see other students work with her and she always had a way of getting each student to accomplish their goals. I think when you look for a teacher, you really are looking for someone to teach you how to learn. So many teachers tell you something or tell you what to do but never help you develop a skillset. Alex is different in that she absolutely focuses on developing a fundamental process so that each student not only learns but knows how to learn. As a result, there is progress I can see immediately, of course, but also years down the road. If you're looking for a teacher seriously, consider someone who will make a lasting impact and will make you a better overall person— not just tell you to do something and move on. Alex is a teacher who, regardless if you pursue music, you will come out better because of her teachings. Highly recommend!

I have always been passionate and excited about teaching! I have extensive teaching experience and knowledge combined with individual approach to every one of my students. You will not only get a complete understanding of piano technique, proper usage of hand and arm weight, but also a deeper understanding of musical language overall. My lessons are engaging, informative, and thorough. You will fall in love with classical music right away!

Before starting we set up an interview during which we talk with the student in order to identify the goals they want to achieve and how I can help. After identifying a level the student is at, I start by carefully choosing the right repertoire and building an individual plan for the entire course of study. My method is developed to master skills in music and piano playing which include technique, theory, sight-reading, and music history. I am proud of my students who

Vitaly is the best pianist, musician and teacher I have ever known. He has a wonderful sense of humor and is very likable. As a teacher he is very encouraging and respectful. He understands, and can explain, music at a deep level. There were pieces I have heard practically all my life, but Vitaly would surprise me by illustrating melodies in the inner voices that I had never realized were part of the music, enabling me to see beauty in the pieces I had not known was there, and showing me how to bring out the hidden melodies through developing a sensitive “touch” when playing the piano. He played a piece I was working on, and he spontaneously expanded chords in a rather complex line, making the music surprisingly brilliant. He explained things clearly and patiently, and he had the ability of making me feel important as a student. He can guide a student from the very beginning to the most advanced.
Daniel
Vitaly is a caring, utmost skilled piano virtuoso and quite possibly an even more gifted teacher who aspires his students to set realistic yet lofty learning & performance goals through a consistent, instrisic motivational teaching style. We are extremely fortunate to have Vitaly instruct our son Anderson! The future for my son is made so much brighter with such a brilliant piano, and music theory education ! Many thanks Vitaly!

Love Dr. M! I've wanted to take voice lessons forever but I have been hesitant due to my lack of experience. Dr. M not only made me feel comfortable but also confident in the voice that I have. She's personal and warm but also very professional. She never gets frustrated with obstacles I face in my lessons; instead she helps ways to overcome them.

I've never left a lesson feeling disappointed with my ability, something I experienced with other voice teachers. I feel confident in my voice and I owe that all to Melissa. For instance, during one lessons I was feeling a little off. Rather than getting frustrated she helped me focus on great ways to approach singing when not feeling your best. Dr. McCann rocks!

If you are looking for a voice teacher new or experienced I would definitely recommend Dr. McCann. Top notch lessons and overall awesome woman!
Kassondra
Dr. M. is a phenomenal teacher who does a great job customizing her lessons to the needs of the student. She has helped me make amazing progress with my voice, and just as importantly has helped me gain the confidence to be able to sign.

Her lessons are fun, effective, and very positive. All of which help the student learn more and get more out of the lesson. I highly recommend Dr. M. as a teacher to anyone (at any level) who is interested in becoming a better singer.

"Great teacher! My son really enjoy taking lesson from Lana in the last year or so. He was with another teacher for a couple years but didn't quite gasp the concept of reading the notes. He was playing by memory which I thought it wasn't right for a beginner or at his level. We since than switch to Lana and noticed the difference when he practice and the techniques he put on during his lesson and recital is incredible to see as a mother. I'm very happy with the way she teaches my son and she shows a very positive feedback with compliments at the end of each lesson. I think that is very important as a teacher.

Since than, my older son have follow my younger son's foot step in taking lesson with Lana as well :-)"
