About Erol
***AREAS NORTH OF CENTRAL SANTA CLARITA ARE DIFFICULT TO SERVICE PHYSICALLY/ ADDRESSES WITHIN REMOTE AREAS (no public transit or bicycle access) DIFFICULT TO SERVICE PHYSICALLY***

***lesson cancelations and schedule changes need to be submitted through your Takelessons.com student website. It is difficult for teacher to handle multiple informal requests***

My style and attitude toward teaching is a balance between subject delivery and reflective, supportive interaction. I seek to enable current research on education for busy, yet goal-driven student interests. This is done through customized online lessons coordinating the experience with optimal resources and tools. Examples are helping ESL students to monitor their own phonic issues with dedicated software/feedback, guiding German students through conversational dialogues, and ta
iloring Excel and related productivity lessons for particular prerequisites.

Due to my limited funds, I do not have direct experience with the Adobe suite, but I have extensive knowledge of related, free distributions that are transferable. Possibly the only dedicated PhD for E-Learning on the TakeLessons server, I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.
My most popular subjects are as follows:

North American English Pronunciation Practice for ESL (NAEPP-ESL) or Accent-Reduction:
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 recordings, and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****

Carefully following Burkkowsky's (1969) multi-media method, I have taught this subject for over five years for public and private causes, such as library, individuals, and language schools. My emphasis for pronunciation is a scientific, comprehensive overview and treatment of the various sounds, rhythms, inflections, and patterns the spoken language integrates. I encourage practicing and mastering both the sounds themselves, as well as how the sounds are connected and contextualized. I use contemporary sound recording and .wav editing software (acoustic waveform analysis) to enable dynamic feedback and self-monitoring .

German Language and Culture:
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recordings and about 50 GB onedrive folder for lesson files*****

I have grown up bilingual English and German, attending an international school from a very young age. I attended, also, a German public secondary school, where I earned a diploma, and I completed college-level German credits. I taught German in the language lab of a community college, for special needs students, and for private agencies, such as Tutor Doctor. My emphasis is on a comparative introduction of the language to draw out a common ground and familiarize possibly daunting differences. I also enjoy asserting that German is often underestimated as a rewarding second language to study.

Microsoft Excel:
***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***

This spreadsheet and data management software program is of crucial, pivotal importance in any business and financial environment. The program enables efficient and prompt development of arithmetic and statistical calculations of vast data sets. It also helps to visualize and juxtapose related or even discrepant variables. My approach to teaching the program is cumulative and holistic, starting with an introduction to personal inventory management to the processing of large data sets using pivot tables, charts, and dashboards. My emphasis is on making the program as intelligible and transparent as possible to avoid frustration and intimidation. I use a lot of examples and visuals that are readily available.

Typing:
***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***

I teach the touch-typing method that is the convention for most journalistic and input-intensive organizational settings. I teach the home row, proper finger and hand positions, proficiency with left and right hands, as well as posture and concentration methods. I enrich the teaching with resources from the web, such as speed-building and error reduction.

Sergey taught me about everything I had questions about and also offered suggestions in helping me to better determine the best way to find the career path that is right for me. Rather than hard and fast lessons, it was an opportunity to spend time, one on one, with a professional and learn from his experiences what works and what doesn't.

In the past 10 years, I have lived and worked in the Arab world, was formally educated in Arabic, and taught the Arabic language to an array of students.

I hold a dual degree with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in Psychology and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. I studied directly under Mahmoud al-Batal, the esteemed professor and writer of the Al-Kitaab textbook series, Mahmoud al Batal and bec. (Yup, probably that textbook you're using right now.)

With training in both cognition/development and Arabic, I have taught all kinds of people over the past 5 years. My students range from college students to professional educators, humanitarian workers to businessman and politicians, emergency room surgeons to US Army Personnel, and regular people who are just interested in learning the language.

I specialize in o
ne-on-one teaching and make custom lessons for your learning style- Arabic is an awesome language and I will help you learn it well.

Aaron is the third Arabic teacher I've worked and is definitely the best in all respects.

He is very organized and efficient and pleasant to learn from. I've developed much better and structured habits in how I approach my grammar and understanding of Arabic- he made it feel so easy. He challenges me just enough so that I can learn where I need to grow.

Great at teaching at any level.

Highly recommended!

Aaron breaks down his lessons by category which is extremely helpful. Smart and professional man who knows his craft. He can explain the same concept/idea in 10 different ways and won't just 'bypass' anything you aren't completely clear on. Cool guy, patient, worth all my time and money.

Aaron’s a really cool guy and a great teacher. I took lessons with him 3x a week and my Arabic improved so quickly. I scored high on my tests and got to exactly where I wanted to be. He is straightforward and to the point but not at all uptight. Definitely highly recommend.

Mandarin is my native. I earned my PhD in the US from City University of New York, hence have full professional proficiency in English.

I now work in higher education, a business school faculty of a local university. That qualification speaks to itself. My business students rate my classes 4.5/5. I take great pride in influencing my students positively. Some of my undergrads decided to become a Finance/Economics major after taking my courses in Financial Economics. They were in general business majors, unsure what particular business directions to pursue before taking my courses.

Tutoring my mother tongue is purely some fun outside of my regular higher education job. You can expect high standard tutoring since good quality instruction is my day to day job skill as a professor. My superior pedagogical skills are evidenced by formal
students evaluations of my university.

As a full-time faculty, I do not tutor for making extra money, but in return, I am looking to discuss and explore US-China cross-cultural topics. I have broad interests in social, economic and cultural subjects.

Preferably I can tutor you if you are in Albany or neighboring areas.
