Melissa's studio is ran professionally and with care. Her teaching methods are designed specifically for your learning ability and needs. She encourages her students to be the best they can be.
I've been told students learn more with me in a few lessons than they did in three months with other instructors. I individualize my students lessons to fit their needs and goals while striving for an excellent quality education.
Some of the qualifications I prepare you for are as follows: an accompanist, music teacher, professional performer, worship performer, singer-songwriter, theater and/or musical theater performer and open mics. I help prepare you for auditions, judging panels and recitals.
I teach an in-depth classical study to all of my students in order to build a strong musical foundation. My students learn to play classical,
worship, pop, jazz and many other styles they are open to or suggest. I also instill, teach and offer a love for improvisation to any student open to exploring the freedom of playing outside the lines.
Some of my students take lessons along with their parents. This creates opportunities for duets and so much more. Many of my students compliment my patience and say they have learned so much in so little time.
Life with music is a journey but not only that it becomes part of your lifestyle. Being a good dedicated student will bring so many wonderful moments and rewards as you take the journey with your instrument of choice. I have students entering talent shows, performing at assemblies, choir, open mics, musical theatre and locally for the elderly during Christmas.
About your lessons:
I host a Winter and Spring recital.

I like to make students feel comfortable and at ease in lessons, and you will find that I am very warm and friendly!
Every student is unique, with their own strengths, their own areas for improvement, and their own preference for certain styles of singing. I can help you find what style makes your heart sing!

Mia is amazing!!
She is a pleasure to learn from and to spend time with!!

She is amazing as a teacher and a singer. I was looking for formal training to advance in my singing and understand what I am doing wrong. And Mia have helped me so much in just 3 classes. As a singer I felt stuck and wanted to advance my skills and I was very doubtful of teachers but I can say with confidence Mia is the perfect teacher for me. She makes it so comfortable for me to explore my voice and range. So far everything she has taught me has helped me realize my mistakes that were holding me back from singing at my best. She is also very accommodating in terms of class schedule. I always look forward to my class with her.
Classical Voice focusing on the Italian Bel Canto style of singing. This method incorporates the idea of open, free and resonant vocal production with an emphasis on producing the least amount of tension and fatigue possible. Volume is not about pushing your voice to reach high levels of sound, but utilizing the body in the most efficient manner so that your natural resonance chambers are used to shape and enhance the voice.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself: I have been performing for over 25 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.
Performing has absolutely b
een my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I spent nearly 10 years performing with Disney in California and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a depth that I couldn't have imagined. Those experiences have made me excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.
Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from so many walks of life. If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!
For Students of Voice: Teaching Style
Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person. To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

"Alan is a great teacher and has a tremendous amount of patience and understanding."
"I took lessons with Rachel through the secondary lesson program at Oberlin College and it was a great experience! What I loved was that her teaching goals
extended beyond how I sounded in the lesson itself, but also focused on trying to give me the tools for being able to properly and productively practice on my own. I also love her emphasis not just on proper technique and musicality, but also on expression."
"Francesca is a terrific vocal coach. She really knows music theory and the mechanics of singing. She has been a tremendous source of knowledge and has p

"Elizabeth is a very nice and competent vocal trainer. She always encourages me to try new exercises that help me a lot to improve my singing skills. I als
o feel very comfortable taking classes with her, and I think that one of the basic things for me when it comes to learn how to sing, a nice atmosphere is necessary to grow faster. She is also helping me with my English pronunciation. I would definitely recommend her."
"I’ve been working with Carla for several years. Over that time, I’ve had the opportunity to explore several vocal styles - jazz, musical theater, classica

She’s patient with my desire to learn different ways of singing. She’s taught me how to control my voice so I can sing straight tone or float my high notes. I am always impressed by how well she can explain techniques to the average person so you can actually translate it into a really cool sound.
I’ve been so impressed, my children now take lessons and are having success at community auditions. I highly recommend Carla for her ability to work with all ages, levels, and styles."
