Before settling into a music career, worked as a dance instructor, for the City of NY and received congrats from John Lindsey, then mayor, for outstanding achievement.
As an actor, performed in several off-Broadway plays and was a principal in the “Broadway tour”, ”Pulitzer prize ” winning play, “No Place to be Somebody.” I've performed through the years as a vocalist with a trio and as a ONE WOMAN SHOW at various night spots, concert halls and social events. As a voice coach I've had the good fortune to teach the skills and techniques of the art of singing.

WORKSHOP FOR LEARNING TO SING
COMPETENCY: A SOLID FOUNDATION IN THE BASICS OF SINGING
OBJECTIVE: Students will learn Basic Components of Singing and demonstrate via public (by choice) performance; at the end of course.
The use of pitch in language to distinguish words. All languages use intonation to express emphasis, contrast, emotion, or other such nuances.
Pitch refers to the notes and sounds that we hear when someone sings, and it determines if the song is going to sound great or not. The singer will have to hit various pitches in a song with a relative amount of accuracy in order to be in tune with the overall music accompaniment and harmonies.
Every song has a certain beat, and it is essential that we keep to the basic rhythm of the song, or else we might find that we are constantly trying to catch up with the lyrics or always lagging behind. Rhythm also determines the groove of the song, and this is what gets us on our feet and dancing when we listen to upbeat or fast tempo songs.
A great sense of rhythm begins with learning to recognize various beat duration, to vocalize notes with different beats, as well as to be able to keep to the basic tempo of a song.
Breathing is an essential component of singing, and is what most singing instructors would introduce to students during their first lesson for singing. It is also what most people would want to learn about and also ask questions about.
Breathing is a natural process, and it is not difficult to achieve better breath control for singing. A great breath foundation is needed for singing!
To produce great sounds when singing it is essential to adopt beneficial singing habits in order to produce sounds that are more relaxed and healthy.
Learning how to produce sound with our voice is not enough. We still need to shape our voice, and form words in a language that our audience will understand.
This is why diction is also one of the vital basics of singing, because it determines whether our audience understands what we are singing, and whether we are able to connect with them through our song. Diction is also a key factor towards hitting the correct pitches, especially for the high notes, and this will be explained in detail.
Lesson 1 PITCH
How to avoid the most common singing mistakes that prevent singers from producing a clean and professional vocal tone.
Objective: Students will learn warm up exercises that strengthen vocal cords and loosen the muscles needed to produce a professional sound./ the importance of singing ‘scales’ to achieve this objective.
Lesson 2 RHYTHM
Rhythms often used in various standard songs.
Objective: Students will listen and learn to identify rhythms used in songs. CD player provided.
Students will learn to tap out the various types of rhythm.
Students will sing a favorite song; using rhythms learned in class.
Lesson 3 BREATH
For the purpose of voice projection, students will learn to breath more from the diaphragm, the muscles beneath the ribcage, as well as the abdominal muscles.
Objective: Students will learn vital techniques to create a connected voice blending head, chest and diaphragm.
Lesson 5 DICTION
How to use the emotions, enunciation and clarity.
Objective: Students will learn to sing a favorite song with focus on elements of singing.
Lesson 6 Review of previous 5 lessons.
Lesson 7 Group/Individual Performances
Objective: Students will show confidence in employing elements from training.
Lessons 8/9/10 Rehearsal for recital TBA

When you have a love of teaching, you have a seemingly endless resource of patience. This is because what the student sees as "patient" is really just a small step in the educational process. It is a fraction of time just before a correction. When you have something new to teach, whether it is a new technique, or a correction of something being done improperly, and you know exactly how to break it down so it is understandable and accomplishable, you know it is always a short matter of time before the student gets it. And by short, I mean a matter
I respect others and what they feel and have to say. I treat others as I would want to be treated and lessons are always a pleasure to my students, because it is a pleasure for me to teach them.
I have been playing for over 26 years. I have played with a multitude of local orchestras and bands and have done countless studio recording sessions and live shows. All of this experience comes through in my teaching either directly (when it comes time for you to perform) or incrementally.
When you are learning, there is a vast sea of information. Not all of that knowledge is equal in importance. It is incredibly important to be able to distinguish what is important and what is not very important. All of my real-life experience, and continuing experience reveals itself in the form of ensuring my students know what is truly important.
Lest you get the idea that I am a wishy-washy, undemanding teacher, I can assure you this is not the case. Lessons are fun, but that is because they are productive. You will walk away being able to do something, and that requires hard work, and practice.
WHAT I EXPECT FROM MY STUDENTS
And a winning attitude.
I can even work with you if you don't have a winning attitude, but it makes it more fun when you do!
HOW FAST CAN I EXPECT RESULTS?
Some students who were musicians previously leave the first lesson being able to play their first song. Most students however, who have never played an instrument before, can expect to be comfortable bowing (a huge part of the process - half the sound!) within the first few weeks, and will then move on to learning songs. We will be learning sheet music as well, on a very, very easy gradient. After the first couple months, I expect you to tell me which song it is you might like to learn most so that we can start working on it.

I attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, TX, and am now one semester shy from graduating from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, a conservatory in New York City.
I find the best way to learn is in a fun, stress-free environment where the instructor pays close attention to the needs of their students. I believe in cultivating an appreciation for jazz and other styles of music, paying close attention to detail, and building a strong foundation through focused practice.

I'm an award-winning world class touring/recording drummer and educator. I've lead drum & rhythm masterclasses across the US & Canada, as well as many other countries (Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, West Africa, and more...) to students of ALL levels. After graduating from Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship in 2013, I went to Senegal, West Africa, to study the drumming language of one of the oldest drum cultures and perform with my mentors.
My goal is to bring each drummer I teach to their fullest potential, teaching drum technique, rudiments, coordination, independence, how to find the "pocket" and make the grooves feel GOOD so you get hired again and again
I am well versed in Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Funk, Rock, Fusion, Afrobeat, Reggae, and many traditional folkloric styles from Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Haiti, Senegal, Morocco, and more. The drum lessons are specific to each student's needs and interests, and the amount of practice material will be relative the student's level of commitment. Each student will be guided to become the best drummer they can possibly be, while having loads of fun doing it.

Franz is constantly evolving as an artist, producer & teacher searching for new ways to collaboratively expanding the musical language.
Franz was born in Tyrol, Austria. Growing up with traditional Austrian brass music as a soloist, he soon became interested in jazz. She is an alumnus of the Conservatory of the City of Vienna and received an M.S. degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Lew Soloff.
As a composer, his stylistic versatility grew to include works for full orc
He received commissioned works from many prestigious venues and institutions and his works were premiered at places like the 'Theater an der Wien', UN Headquarters NYC ( Year Of the Mountains Launch Event), Red Bull Hangar 7, European Forum Alpbach, Austrian Cultural Forum NYC & Washington, Lincoln Plaza etc.
As a bandleader he performed at the Jazz Standard, Dizzy's Coca-Cola Club Lincoln Center, Porgy & Bess, Brucknerhaus Linz and many Jazz Festivals (Vienna Jazz Festival, Espoo Jazz Festival etc.) Franz is co-leading a brass trio with the legends Dave Taylor (bass trombone ) and John Clark ( french horn). He also has duos with percussion super star Mino Cinelu and pianist Michael Wolff.
Franz also works quite often with leading classical artists like Dietmar Küblböck ( principal Trombone Vienna Philharmonic) and Gerhard Fluch ( principal trumpet Bruckner Orchester Linz) Franz taught at many workshops ( Jazzmarathon Mattighofen, Jazzworkshop Pulawy/Poland, SUNY Purchase, Friedberg Jazz Cocktail, etc) and is regularly hired for masterclasses ( University of Music and Theater Leipzig, Music University Tunis, Musikschule Wiener Neustadt, brass bands, masterclasses at music exhibitions etc.)
In partnership with his father Franz sen., who is a famous trumpet virtuoso in Austria and started his career in the mid 50's, Franz jun. is also hand crafting innovative horns & accessories (Hybrass, DeeflexxBrass). The family business was established in 1965.
