I've been playing guitar for 8 years. I can teach classical, jazz, and rock.

About Hissael
I have been teaching and tutoring students for 6 years now. I teach math and guitar. The thing I love most about my teaching isn't the end result of a student's passing report card or a student's accomplishment of learning a difficult musical piece. It is the effort that takes place between the student and the tasks, along with guidance. The student's ability to think and approach the tasks, whether it is music, math, or English in a way that fully immerses the student's creativity and understanding is at the foundation of my teaching. I can help your child pass his/her tests, I can help them read music and play their favorite songs, but, I encourage them to overcome the challenges that they face when they are on their own in the classroom and practice room. This is the curriculum I teach.

About Jeff
*** PLEASE MESSAGE ME PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR LESSONS TO DISCUSS GOALS, ANY BACKGROUND YOU HAVE IN YOUR TOPIC, AND ARRANGE THE BEST TIME & PLACE FOR MEETING. ***

Are you looking to learn Guitar, Singing, Beatboxing or Songwriting? No matter what style you are in to, I can help you build the skills, confidence, & practice strategies to become a successful musician. Beginners, Intermediate, & Advanced all welcome!

Majoring in classical guitar performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts I was a part of many performance opportunities. These included solo classical guitar recitals, weekly performance class, a collaboration with the Columbia City Jazz Dance Company, and a performance at the Columbia Museum of Art to name a few. Now I frequently participate in songwriting showcases, street performances, and collaborati
ons with bands and music groups of many different genres.

In a lesson with me you will be focusing on four main areas:

1] REPERTOIRE: Songs you are working on in preparation for performance or just to play for fun!
2] MUSIC THEORY: Exercises in ear training, note-reading skills, sight-reading skills, and overall knowledge of how music works.
3] IMPROVISATION: Learn drills to improve solo skills and increase your confidence jamming with other musicians.
4] TECHNIQUE: Guitar lessons focuses on how to properly use the left and right hands in a way that that is relaxed and tension free. Voice lessons entail learning how to breath properly, prevent vocal strain, and expand your range.

In addition to instrument lessons I also provide Songwriting Lessons, Music Theory Lessons, and Music Performance Lessons for more advanced students + I teach Recording, Web Design, and Graphic Design subjects for Artists or others looking to learn how to promote themselves or their projects. (Subjects Include: Logic Pro X, WordPress, Web Design, Graphic Design, HTML, CSS, & More!)

I am a recent Berklee College of Music graduate living in Chicago. At Berklee, I was the first rock/metal guitarist to receive the "Jimi Hendrix Award." This award is given to the best guitarist at the school. I've played and studied many styles of music ranging from classical, traditional, blues, country, rock, and metal.
Besides teaching, I have a passion for songwriting and performance. Here in Chicago, I am currently playing with various bands and writing my own music. My teaching style is very "goal-oriented," and I will teach students to set short-term goals, medium goals, and then demonstrate to them how reaching the short and medium-term goals leads to accomplishing long-term goals. I envision teaching much like my teachings at Berklee where once my lesson was finished, I only wanted to go home and learn more. If you want to learn multiple styles from someone who is truly passionate about the instrument, I'm your guy!

About Michael
Hello, my name is Michael! I have been playing guitar since I was 10-years old. Aside from being a teacher, performer, and songwriter, I would define myself as a "guitar nerd" because I love every aspect of playing. I still practice every day and have an insatiable hunger for new opportunities to play and learn. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of metal, rock, blues, country, and guitar. In my spare time, I enjoy writing music and playing more guitar.
I graduated from Berklee in 2017, where I received the Jimi Hendrix Award. This is given to the best guitar player in the school. I was the first rock/metal guitar player to do so! I received instruction from world-class teachers such as Joe Stump and Norm Zocher.
Besides teaching, I have a passion for songwriting and performance; while in Boston, I played and recorded with the melodic met
al band Black Trip. With Black Trip, I was fortunate enough to open up for such bands as Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Rhapsody of Fire, and Doro. Here in Los Angeles, I am currently teaching, playing with various bands, and working on my band's debut album.

As I further devoted myself to music I started playing the flute, saxophone, piano, and bass. My passion for music led to several successes including earning first place in Tuck’s Rock Dojo’s regional music competition as a lead guitarist and media appearances including The Herald and Valley News newspapers. I was also teaching private lessons at the time to students with various interests and learning abilities. Upon approaching jazz, I studied with Don Mock and Scott Mullett. Joe is a great guy and musician, a really easy person to work with, talk to, and hang with. Most importantly he is an extraordinary musician, he knows his stuff, and he knows how to communicate it to a student. His knowledge spans far beyond a pro and his teaching skills surpass many "professional" teachers I have worked with in the past. Nothing but a joy every lesson. Joe has opened my eyes to what the fretboard displays harmonically. I am grateful for what he has given me. Thanks Joe!

I'm currently taking electric guitar lessons from Joe. Without a doubt, it is the highlight of my week to spend an hour jamming with him. While learning a new instrument is always difficult (especially one as physically/mentally demanding as the guitar), Joe is endlessly knowledgeable and always has a cool new trick to show me to make everything less daunting and more fun. It has been such a joy to be instructed by someone so funny, talented, patient, and kind. I cannot recommend Joe enough!

Experienced music teacher with nearly 10 years experience teaching students of all ages and abilities from beginner to advanced. I also have experience teaching music to students with special needs, including autism and total vision impairment. I begin accepting students for guitar at age 8 and teach students up to age 99+. For students younger than 8 who wish to learn guitar, I start them on a ukulele which is much easier for very young students to handle. With lessons from me, you'll learn to read music and understand tab, develop your ear for hearing music (ear training), music theory, and technique with a goal of getting you playing your favorite style of music in the quickest time possible. I can teach you to play whatever style you wish. I can even help you learn to compose your own music! To accomplish that, I use a variety of learning aids and games to assist you in learning to read music and understand the deeper concepts of music theory. I taylor my teaching style to each ...

About Elizabeth
I grew up in a musical family. My mother was a piano teacher for 20 years, and my father could play any instrument he decided to pick up. From as young as I can remember, music was always surrounding me. I came to love it in all its forms and styles.
I began playing piano when I was a little girl. As a teenager, I learned guitar, harmonica, and drums. Since then, I have been devoted to learning as much as I can about music theory, composition, music history, and musical instruments. I'm currently learning the violin and hope to add mandolin and banjo to my musical repertoire in the near future. I'm also working on making my own method books and composing music.
I began teaching music back in 2010.
