Kenny has been playing guitar since the age of 14, has received awards and grants from the Canada Council, and is an instructor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His approach to teaching guitar helps students learn quickly and maximize musical potential.

I'm a guitar player and singer songwriter from Montreal, Canada, have been living in Chicago for seven years, and have been playing electric, dobro, and acoustic guitar in the studio and on the stage for 20+ years. I play fingerstyle in a variety of tunings and am also a proficient flatpicker covering folk, bluegrass, electric, blues, and country picking techniques.

Through use of amplification, Guitars no longer relied on thick strings and hollow bodies to produce volume. This made the guitar much easier to play and therefor allowed for some huge innovations in playing technique. Bends, whammy bars, feedback, increased sustain... these are all were made possible by plugging in the instrument, so let's turn it up and rock out!!

I teach music the way music should be taught: fun, interesting, patient, and without intimidation. I teach the music YOU want to learn and will learn new music specifically for you if that is what you wish to study. In your very first lesson, you will start learning to play a song. Instead of only focusing on drilling scales and techniques, I will teach you how apply these in a musical context. I teach musicians of all ages, using the same proven approach. My students range in age from young children to middle school, high school, and college students, as well as working professionals and retirees. I bring my own enthusiasm for learning, my love of music, and a desire to pass on my knowledge into every lesson!
