About Mark

I am a lifelong lover of music and education. I will use my 41years of performance experience to show students how to play guitar, bass, or sing, but more importantly, how to enjoy those things! I believe music is, first and foremost a source of joy, and my lessons are designed to bring that abo

Unfortunately, yesterday was my last lesson with Mark, as I am moving to Guam. I would definitely not be giving up my weekly lesson with him if that weren't the case! I've learned so much in the short couple months taking lessons from him. I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level. Very helpful and kind. :)

I recently took an intro to piano class from Marshal via Zoom. He e-mailed the course .pdf materials promptly after booking so that I could visually go over the lesson ahead of time. He had an easy going manner about himself and was okay with me interrupting on several occasions to ask a question or tell him I already knew the material being taught. Definitely recommended for beginners and children!

Hello there! I have my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education (K-5) and I am extremely passionate about literacy and reading instruction. I am also currently a 1st grade teacher. I used research-based best practice when teaching reading. Younger students will develop strong phonemic awareness (identifying and manipulating sounds orally), phonological awareness (the sounds that letters make), and decoding strategies. For older students, we will work on comprehension strategies, morphology, and critical thinking with texts. I will eventually be pursuing my Doctorate degree in Biliteracy. I also write academic articles in areas involving early childhood education (specifically for English Language Learners and multilingual education). I also speak Italian, Spanish, and Greek.

Austin is a master reading teacher who understands the reading acquisition process inside and out, and develops students' skills via culturally responsive instruction that builds on what kids already know. He is fluent in multiple languages and has an extraordinary care and kindness for young students. I can't recommend him highly enough.
As a mom who started online reading lessons reluctantly after prior bad experiences with "zoom school", I was pleasantly shocked at how well my son responded to Austin's online instruction. My son made impressive progress and really liked his lessons. The instruction was fun and engaging, and his enthusiasm was genuine. I would highly recommend him as a reading tutor!

They both struggled with this and when Sonya worked with them in English and Reading explaining the rules and how they work and not work everything else fell in place. Her teaching method starts from the letters in the alphabet. It's a must see!"
