I am so excited to help you expand your aural and written music theory knowledge! I am a professional Opera Singer and I received my Masters in Music from The Juilliard School and received my Bachelors in Music from The University of Kentucky.
An understanding of Music theory leads to appreciating the beauty and genius of music and increases your musical aptitude in performance situations. Even as an Opera Singer I have strived to learn as much as I can so that I can develop a deeper understanding for what I am performing.
I can certainly appreciate that sometimes Music Theory and Aural Theory can just be hard and frustrating, especially when its only explained one way. I love to discover new ways to teach and offer new perspectives to make sure that the knowledge is ingrained in everything you do. My pace is your pace!
I'm so excited to hear from you and see how I can help you!

Music is a different language, and theory is how we learn to speak fluently in music. Whether you are brand new to music or a seasoned professional wanting to brush up on your theory skills, lessons with me will help anyone learn to read, write and play better music.
Music theory lessons are not intended for musicians wanting to practice their instruments. Instead, we will work one on one making sure that you master the concepts of music theory. From basic intervals all the way to a 12 tone matrix. You will leave lessons with me understanding what you hear when you listen to music and why it sounds the way it does.
About Gitana

I will help you to understand music theory as it applies to your specific instrument. Additionally, we will look at information regarding instruments you may work with. We're not looking at orchestrating a symphony and will not learn erroneous information. This is focused on developing the knowledge necessary for mastery of your instrument or instruments and bringing more to you creatively. It also serves to give you the real world ability to communicate with other musicians who work with a different instrument.

Mike bares all the marks of a GREAT teacher. He knew what I wanted before I even realized that's where I truly was heading. Not only have I gained what I am seeking, but he has brought me further than I even dreamed for myself. There's no better feeling than playing the way you've dreamed. On top of being a great teacher, he not only is a kind soul, funny, and a good listener but he truly cares about your growth and what you want to learn. He is hands down an amazing teacher."
