I have been playing bass guitar professionally since 2010, and have had the chance to tour all over the US with a handful of groups. After only a few weeks, I can help a beginning bass student play basic baselines in any genre, while simultaneously teaching them to understand their role as bass in the music. It is the foundation, which determines the role of everyone else in the group. Intermediate to advanced students might enjoy coming to my home studio for lessons, so that I may hop on the drum set and we can jam together. My specialties are "feel" and fluency in the genres listed below and pattern based learning of the instrument and music theory.

It is my goal as a teacher to give you the tools to play music but more importantly to create music.
My Teaching Philosophy
Left Hand-
Scales and arpeggios our the bedrock of music. They are the foundation of everything harmonically and melodically. We will begin with learning our major, minor and pentatonic scales and corresponding arpeggios. Once we have an understanding of those we will delve into our modes and more “exotic” scales.
Right Hand-
The right hand is our time machine. It gives us the ability to play in time and with groove and feel. We will work on rhythmic studies string crossings and practicing with a metronome. Remembering music is harmony, Melody and rhythm working as one.
For those who are new to playing music the hardest thing for some to master is rhythm/time keeping. It is the black and white right or wrong of the music world. Often times our want to progress quickly is hampered by skipping over the basic building blocks of rhythm and ...

Jon is one of the best instructor's I've come to know. Although I've only been taking lessons from him since February 2013; he has proven to be a true musician and a great teacher. His teaching style is relaxed which removes the pressure from learning how to play which allows you to absorb more instruction. He instills confidence in you while you're trying to play the instrument which motivates you to want to learn more. We even have a "jam" session at the end of my lesson which is really fun. I enjoy taking lessons from Jon and am sure that every who does (and plan to) share the same feeling. Good job Jon!"
