While vocal lessons aren’t my main concentration, I’ve had many piano students who also sing (or play an additional instrument). So I have become used to teaching vocal lessons. I myself studied voice while away at west Chester university. I’ve taken 4 semesters of private vocal lessons, in addition to singing in choirs my entire life. I also participated in small singing groups (between 8-10 adults) while at Nassau community college. I love to sing and I am certainly more then capable of helping you or your child to prepare a piece for nyssma, their upcoming concert or singing just for fun!😊🎶

About Nicole
Hi my name is Nicole; I have over 25 years of teaching experience. (I began teaching beginner students while I was in high school) and I myself began classical piano training at the age of 8 and continued through college. I also studied music theory, ear training and sight reading.
As a student, I participated in yearly NYSSMA competitions, performed in recitals and National Music Guild competitions as well. Following my passion made my decision to major in music the obvious choice. I wound up being the recipient of the first Ralph V. Ritchie Music Memorial Scholarship at Nassau Community College (which needless to say was a huge honor). I studied under Rose Tanner, who was a member of the Juliard faculty, performing many piano solo recitals as well as singing madrigals in a quartet. I truly loved what I was doing. I went on as a perfor
mance major at West Chester University in P.A. for three semesters and it was there that I realized that I wanted to teach piano. I've always been extremely creative and patient, so I thought teaching piano would be a perfect fit for me and it turned out that I was right! I also have had many other jobs working with children, such as being a camp counselor and a nanny for several different families and now I’m a mom as well ! I decided I wanted to write and perform my own music in an original band as well. So I decided to leave West Chester and began several of my own original musical projects and solo performance acts. I've played the piano/keyboard, wrote music/lyrics, sang lead and backup vocals or did a combination of the above.
During this time I worked closely with other advanced teachers and musicians to gain other methods, styles and techniques of playing and teaching music. I found out very quickly that playing a keyboard while standing up is both stylistically and technically different then sitting at the piano,
I'm patient, creative, positive and fun to work with and I really enjoy teaching. I love working with children and I'm passionate about passing my love of music along to my students. I also love to explore improvisation with students and song writing if the student and parents(s) are interested. I myself try to always be open to change and growth. I feel that if you think you already know everything, that you’re not open to learning..and should be).
If you feel your child and I would be a good fit, please feel free to call me. I'm always open for questions and conversation. :~)

*** Lesson Details ***
I specialize in teaching classical piano to students of all ages, including extensive experience in teaching autistic, special-needs and disabled children.
Sensitive to individual needs and abilities, I prepare students with curriculum, lesson plans and weekly assignments on a one-on-one basis.
Curriculum may include technique, sight reading, theory, ear training, scales, NYSSMA and performance/recital preparation. Working with both students and their parents together we can determine individual goals for each student.
Scheduling is maintained and coordinated to accommodate students and their families.
In the first three to six months, my intention is to instill a good practice ethic.
Students will be positive and motivated towards playing their instrument.
They will have a basic understanding of theory, scales and technique.
Additionally, students will be able to play a small repertoire of pieces.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, my lessons are organized, productive and most of all - fun!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in a recording studio. Where you have a choice of an acoustic upright piano or a digital Yamaha keyboard. I also own a farfisa organ and a moog synthesizer.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I always try to get a feeling from each individual student as to which series of beginner books will work best for them. Obviously if the student is more advanced (and already working on a specific piece) please bring that with you to the lesson. There are so many beginner books to start out with. I like to have a lesson book, a theory book and a technic book as well. Once the student has learned the basics, I like to occasionally let them choose a fun song (pop or rock) as a reward for working on the classical criteria that I prefer. I find it helps keep them motivated to plat their favorite songs to their friends and have some fun. (even though that would be work as well).

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music for piano study. I have taught the Suzuki method with a few very young students. I have also taught other styles such as rock and roll , some Broadway songs and top 40 upon request. I also teach some students different styles of songwriting techniques.

Love Sharon! My 13-year-old daughter takes voice lessons with her and Sharon is funny, positive, and very energetic.
My daughter has said she would not go to anyone else. Sharon is great with young students and getting the most out of them, especially if they’re a bit shy. We look forward to seeing her every week and I highly recommend her as an instructor.

I highly recommend Sharon as a piano instructor. She is very enthusiastic, encouraging and patient. Also her way of teaching is amazing. I am an adult beginner who had taken a few lessons with another instructor before. Though I did pick up some terminologies, I like the way Sharon goes back to basic and teach me the fundamentals without assuming me know it. These are essential for me to progress further.

I don't know how I got so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing, caring and loving vocal coach but I was totally blessed! Thank you, Sharon for all that you have done for me. If you always dreamed of becoming a well-rounded vocalist, then you MUST know it takes more than just a great voice. All vocalists, no matter what level should understand the "make up" of contemporary music.

I specialize in Pop, R&B, Musical Theater, Spiritual, Gospel, and all other forms of contemporary music. I've been teaching voice technique for over 15 years and my students have gone on to travel the world performing as professional singers.

My course offers music theory (intervals, scales, harmony, etc.), ear training (time, rhythm, pitch using the solfege method, etc.), and voice studies (breath, technique, vocal care, etc.)—all knowledge that is tailored to you as a vocalist.

Having a strong music background will grants you the tools to know what is happening in the music that you hear, write, and/or sing. You'll be able to stand out as a more confident and capable musician and vocal performer. Hope to see you in class!

About Christine
“Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you'll feed him for a lifetime." This is my philosophy of teaching.

I specialize in Pop, R&B, Musical Theater, Spiritual, Gospel, and all other forms of contemporary music.

I started performing on stage at the age of four years old. I began formal private lessons in voice and acting at the age of 10 at The Newark School of the Arts and at The Children’s Theater Workshop in Essex County, New Jersey. As a young teen, I also began directing and leading the youth and adult choirs in church. As a result of my commitment to my craft I had numerous opportunities to perform and record as an accomplished artist throughout the United States and abroad.

As an international performer my credits include touring throughout the country of China as a lead singer for the
state of the arts Thai City Theater. Other recent credits include working as a lead production singer for the renowned cruise line, Carnival; sailing the Western and Eastern Caribbean islands performing Las Vegas style production shows.

I am currently the CEO of my own entertainment company 2-4-1 Entertainment and mobile music school. I perform regularly for various commercial establishments and private venues.

I studied Music and Theater at Montclair State University earning a BA degree along with a teaching license in performing arts.

With all that said, I describes my greatest accomplishments as sharing my passion to sing to all who are willing to learn. I am as passionate about teaching as I am about performing.

*** Lesson Details ***
If you love singing, then you should love your lessons. Lessons with me are fun, challenging as well as enriching.

Instruction will include:

-Light stretching exercises to reduce tension and relax muscles that can block good vocal production and vocal freedom.

-Carefully listen to, accessing and giving you feedback about your vocal potential and growth

-Identifying vocal range and limitations

-Proper vocal techniques with respect to vocal scales, learning to breathe, pitch, tonality, durability and posture

-Selecting music collaboratively that suits your tastes and ability

-Working with professional backing tracks like many contemporary artists in the industry

-Lyrical interpretation with respect to performance

-Sharing the understanding of vocal anatomy and how it affects singing

-Allowing you to tape record lessons for practice purposes.

-Comfortable environments where asking questions are encouraged and making mistakes are simply part of the learning process.

-Teaching and practicing good vocal health, including the need to drink water and monitor the speaking voice

-Building confidence as a singer and performer

As much as I loves teaching and building relationships with voice students in my studio, I does not believe lessons should be limited to the classroom. The training process may include performing small venues for family and friends to acquaint the student to performing in front of an audience.

My goal is to teach students who have a desire to perform, the necessary rudiments of singing and performing so he/she can go out into the world and shine as a polished singer!

I have worked with Ms. Christine for over six years, and she has been an invaluable member of our school. Christine is an excellent music teacher. She is aware of a variety of approaches to teaching music, and is constantly broadening her musical talents. She has worked to create interdisciplinary experiences as well, by integrating song, instrumentals, and dance with literature, through performances for the school.

She enjoys children and brings wonderful excitement to their music experience. She creates relevant lesson plans and incorporates movement and other modalities into her music lessons. If you walk into a music lesson, students are moving and making music! They are engaged!

I highly recommend Ms. Christine.

I feel so honored to speak on the behalf of Christine, she has truly helped me with my own small business. I'm a professional real estate agent that enjoyed good old fashion family fun, which includes karaoke. I was never a singer, but always enjoyed singing. I figured it was worth an effort to take a few lessons with Christine and see if I liked it. Well, I loved it!

I've been enjoying music and singing every since I started taking lessons with Ms. Christine. I now give monthly dances and include karaoke with prizes; I'm a featured singer/host and it's been WONDERFUL. Never would have thought voice lessons could bring so much meaning to my life. Forever grateful. Thanks so very much :)

As a music therapist and professional vocalist, my approach to teaching embraces each person's individual goals, experience, and ability to create a tailor made curriculum that includes: building and developing technique, developing practice skills, self-exploration within the lesson, and help developing creative outside projects,

About Jillian
I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional writer and editor.

...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism spectrum disorder, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances and developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative se
tting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I am a professional vocalist in NYC. I perform liturgical and classical music, as well as musical theater repertoire. I participate in professional operas, choral groups and other concert series, as well as professional theater work. Performing gives me a sense of bliss and completeness that is indescribable.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout NYC. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I went on to complete advanced trainings and now specialize in restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yin yoga and therapeutics. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio, and on occasion in my clients’ homes. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized sequencing to deepen your experience.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Excellent first voice lesson. Jillian is warm, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. I was surprised how many "technical" issues she introduced me to (optimal breathing & how best to practice it at home; appropriate use of falsetto at upper limit of bass voice range, etc.) . Looking forward to continued lessons. (Much better use of what used to be my copay for psychotherapy! I've also joined rehearsals with new Encore-NYC chorale group in Manhattan, for people over 55. Music is giving me a real emotional lift in my retirement.)

Experienced, patient teacher with NYS certification in music education. I specialize in jazz, Broadway, r&b and rock. 20+ years experience as choral director. All levels, all ages. Will travel to your home.

About Jon
I am a patient, caring teacher with NYS certification in music education and many years of experience in private instruction and in the public schools. I teach piano and voice and individualize instruction for each student. You will learn basic technique, theory, and repertoire, and then you will focus on the music you want to learn. We'll work together to make the lessons fun and interesting. Teaching is a way for me to share my love of music. My goal is to see my students learn, progress, and perform on their own.

I teach all styles, ages, and ability levels, and specialize in popular, Broadway, jazz and rock. I am qualified to prepare you for NYSSMA, levels I - VI, and can also prepare you for high school, college, and theater auditions.

I'd like to give you an idea of what the lessons are like. For younger students, I use a co
mbination of method books and fun songs that your child will enjoy. With older students and adults, we can go in different directions, for example: rehearsing for school auditions, talent shows, concerts, and plays, performing original songs, using recorded accompaniment, playing duets, improvising solos, using electric keyboards and synthesizers, learning keyboard accompaniment for singer/songwriters, and more. And we don't forget the fundamentals.

No matter what your musical goal, we can achieve it together. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Will travel to your home. Ages 6 and up.

When I look back on my education, very few things really stick out. However, I will never forget those amazing teachers that bring a subject to life and change the way you think, forever. Jon is one of those teachers. He is encouraging, patient, informative, and helps you grow as a musician. I started as a beginner with a dream to play the piano. Even though I am still learning, that dream is now a reality and I can really play! If you have an opportunity to study with Jon, I highly suggest you take it. Since I have been training with Jachee I have developed better access to my vocal powers and my vocal range has expanded. Jachee is extremely professional in her vocal training. She can teach a variety of vocal styles and have you develope ear training in order to distinguish the appropriate notes to sing and remain on the correct notes from the beginning to the end of the song selection. I must say with her expert advise she has guided me in area's I knew was a challenge for me, yet she help me over come the fears I was experiencing without even mentioning it to her. I was soo soo pleased with her that I recommended 3 other persons and if my son gives me th ok I will bring my grand children as well. Her training has helped and improved my vocal cords not harmed them. We practice our breathing, stretching & warm-ups which are so much fun. I would like to achieve singing effortlessly one day as she does when she is on stage. She is amazing, powerful, talented and ve ry professional. I highly recommend Mrs. Jachee, I really call here Boss J because of the way she takes command vocally when she is on stage. By the way there is not a song this power house of a Lady that she can not sing. Give her any song any style and watch with amazement of what beauty and creativity she brings and applies to whatever selections you place before her!!! You can trust you child with her as well. I sooooo love Boss J !!!!!! If I were to have a compliant it would be that we have soo much fun that time flys so quickly and I do not want to LEAVE. Lol 😄🤗😄😁🤣

I can emulate my voice to fit any technique or style, and I can help you through that process, too. I have an intuitive understanding of the voice and the many sounds it can make. I also have a deep understanding of healthy singing technique, from breathing to muscle development to placement. I can help you sing whatever you want, and give you plenty of recommendations in a goal-oriented environment.

My technique is for the contemporary pop or musical theater singer. I can get new students on the path to singing quickly. Ie can also help with auditions and any problems that experienced singers may have in general or with specific songs.

I use clearly defined directions that all students can use to help produce a more balanced and resonant sound. You may have had lessons in the past where you received vague and often confusing directions from the teacher such as "sing through the top of your head", "think down as you go up", or "bring the sound forward". I utilize current scientific understanding of vocal acoustics and harmonics. Changes are created immediately through a combination of breath control, vocal cord/fold closure, and the use of vowels to affect the resonators (throat and mouth). This is why I can get students singing right away and also how I can fix most issues that arise with experienced singers.

About Andrew
am interested in teaching you these simple techniques and putting them to practice. My technique is for the contemporary or musical theater singer. I have studied the Seth Riggs Method and am a graduate of John Henny's Los Angeles program (John Henny Voice) and am one of very few teachers in CT that offer a science based approach. I can get new students on the path to singing quickly. I can also help with auditions and any problems that experienced singers may have in general or with specific songs. I will never draw out lessons or try to "slow teach" as I have seen many places do exactly that.

Apart from my wife and family, music is the most important thing in my life. I love to see and hear immediate improvements to my student's singing. I also really love to help students work through challenging songs and song parts.

I worked with
several classical teachers over the years. I found, although helpful, they did not have a great understanding of the voice, how to truly control sound, and the specifics of contemporary singing (my style). That changed when I found and studied with John Henny from Los Angeles (John Henny Music Academy). John is teacher to the stars and for many years worked for Seth Riggs who taught Michael Jackson and other celebrities. John took his method to the next level which is the basis of what I teach. I also have a Voice Pedagogy Certificate from Boston Conservatory.
