Learn to draw using the classical realist techniques taught in traditional ateliers. In this elegant and inspiring primer, master contemporary artist and author Marina Bichinsky breaks down the drawing process into small, manageable lessons; introduces time-tested principles and techniques that are easily accessible; and shares the language and context necessary to understand the artistic process and create superior, well-crafted drawings.
As a child of five years old I was brought by my mom to Gulyaev’s Art Studio and this famous Ukrainian artist involved me in the marvelous world of fine art.
In high-school, I participated in a federally-funded program for the Gifted and Talented in Visual Art. After graduation I won a huge competition and was admitted as a student of the Architectural department of the Kiev Architectural Civil University. In 2001, I become a student, hand-selected by the director of extraordinary Master degree program of Visual Communication, offered by Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY). In master classes, we learned from each other and worked with the best illustrators: Murray Tinkelman and Cris Payne, Dave Passalaqua and Sano Kazu (Kazuhini), Bunny (Alice) Carter and Bob d’Sey, I love to learn new skills and keep learning new styles and techniques
all the time. This love has inspired my beloved students to do the same.
Really enjoyed working with Marina! She is very fun and delightful to work with

I've known Marina for a very long time and while I haven't taken any classes yet, I most definitely would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a good art teacher. She is a very talented artist and has a rare ability to inspire people to be creative. Her students' paintings are awesome and always make me smile looking at them.
I've been drawing all my life and still enjoy it. It's a great pastime and a creative way to express yourself. You'll need, pencils, large pad of paper and to keep a sketch book for this class. You'll learn different techniques and ways to see things on paper. If you want classes in the Manhattan Beach library, let me know, and give me some time, so I can schedule a room there in advance.
I look forward to tutoring you. I teach Graphic Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Drawing, PowerPoint and more.
I graduated from the Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, CA. and later took some additional classes at UCLA. I taught graphic design and illustration at Woodbury University. I've worked for advertising agencies and large corporations.
I now have my own business and also enjoy teaching young students through adults.
Businesses and academic institutions around the world use PowerPoint. It is important at all levels to be an effective communicator and presenter.
I will use my academic knowledge joined with my new world digital technology skills, to make you able to express yourself.
I had a great time with Katherine learning different drawing techniques. She was very knowledgeable and was able to adapt each lesson to what I needed to know that week. I really enjoyed our lessons last semester. :)

WOW! I'm learning a lot and can't wait until the next lesson.
I have been drawing since age 3, and competing artistically since age 6. My complete love and passion for art has helped me win many awards, and graduate with a fine arts degree with honors from the Academy of Art University. I would love to share all my experience with you! I believe anyone can learn to draw, and I can teach a wide variety, from surrealism to photo realism, including portraits! I have several years of teaching experience, and can teach any age bracket! Your lesson plan will be catered to your abilities and goals for the best experience.
I am a professional freelance artist, and owner of Leola Studios. I have been doing custom artwork for over 15 years, and have several contract jobs with businesses on my resume. I have an Associates Degree in Fine Arts/Animation from Academy of Art University.
I specialize in photo realism, and 90% of the private commissions I get are portraits. However, I work in a broad range of styles and mediums, from line work to abstract to sketch, with charcoal to paint to clay. I love expanding my knowledge and trying new things, but above all I love creating!! I feel that imagination and expression through art/music/literature are crucial to a person's development, and this is something I pass on to my daughters, and frequently fundraise for, in an attempt to keep art programs in our schools.
I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledg
e, so after having so many people ask me to show them how to draw, I began teaching. I've taught one on one, and classes large in size. I have also taught young children, up to age 98! I am very patient and don't mind a slew of questions! I want to help students become the best at their craft.
Art is my passion and so important in our world, with proven benefits! I'd like to think with teaching, I'm helping to keep it alive, even if just in my small way.
The lesson was very enjoyable and effective. Amber made me feel relaxed, yet totally engaged. I gained confidence after completing a landscape sketch during my first class.

My granddaughter has just finished her first drawing class with Amber. She really enjoyed it and is excited to take her second class. My granddaughter is very shy and soft spoken Amber was wonderful with her.

Amber and my son Peter just had their first lesson and he drew an AMAZING bird. She was patient and handled a 9 year old easily. Can't wait for more lessons. So fun!

I’m Kathy and I am a professional artist in New York! I received my Masters of Fine Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute and my Bachelors degree at Skidmore College. I make painting and textile-based 3D installations and have shown widely in the Bay Area, New York, and Chicago. I was a past artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center, Recology, and the Lucid Art Foundation. I’m passionate about arts education, interdisciplinary thinking, art history, ecological stewardship, and color theory. I love teaching art!
I’ve taught a variety of ages and skill levels and care about each student as an individual artist and human being. I design individualized lesson plans for each student with creative, engaging assignments that focus on both technical skill and personal expression. I love helping my students learn and grow as artists.
And I love little kids, so if you're a parent or guardian who just wants your child to have fun with art, I'm the teacher for you!
I’m passionate about art history and color theory. In our lessons, not only will you learn how to draw and paint, you will also learn the cultural history around the subject. I will show you historical and contemporary examples of artwork that fit thematically with our lessons. We will have engaging conversations about art while we draw and paint. I can also point you towards art openings happening around New York.
My personal teaching style is patient, constructive, and encouraging. With practice and hard work, I can help you achieve your goals.
Other things I love include: Spending time in the Great Outdoors, listening to Billie Holiday, and cooking elaborate meals!
Have a question? Don't be shy, send me a message and let's get started! I can't wait to meet you.
Many people think they can't draw. I used to be one of them. Now, I know that everyone can draw, they just need to learn how to translate what they see into an image. We will start with contour, move into gesture, create the illusion of 3D form using value and color, composition and even create the illusion of space. We will use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastels (oil and chalk) and even use paint. It's really lots of fun!
Hello! My name is John and I can teach you to draw and paint. I am high energy, funnier than all get out, yet have a serious love of art. Let's explore not just the technical side of drawing/painting, but let's help you discover how to express your creative self!
I teach the fundemental basis for all representational drawing. From still life to portraits and the figure leading up to advanced genre or multi-figure pictures. I have been drawing and painting my whole life and love to teach drawing and painting to anyone who wants to learn. Visual communication skills are a foundation for many forms of problem solving skills. These skills all lead to a keen sense of awareness of ones self and environment.
I have hundreds of hours teaching experience in many subjects spaning from sports chess and the arts. I have won numerous awards for my ability to communicate the detailed aspects of complicated intricate subject matter. I have been verified to teach all ages and have numerous background checks establishing me as a safe instructor.
I want to help you to become a better artist and have fun while you’re doing it! My style of teaching is to tell you about powerful ways to approach your drawings that will boost your technical ability as fast as possible. In other words, I’m going to help you to make your art look like the thing you’re drawing. But I won’t rush you through it! We’ll take as long as you need to get a good understanding of the most important aspects of the lesson. We can focus on what you are most interested in learning about. Want to learn how to draw faces better? Or maybe improve your proportions for drawing a full body person? Pets, landscapes, still life, it’s your choice because I work for you. Each of these are unique subjects, but there are certain fundamentals that apply to all of them which I will help you with to give your drawings more of a “pop out” look! Some of those things are learning to see values (light and dark), negative space, and how angles and relationships of different elements
I want to help you make huge leaps in your skills to become a better artist than you even thought was possible! Whatever you want to create, you can do it! Private lessons can save a lot of time and keep you on the right path for your personal individual needs, where ever you are on your way to becoming Leonardo (not DiCaprio, the other one). Want to learn how to draw lifelike faces? Paint realistic still life? Improve your proportions with the human figure? Master color with landscapes? I have experience doing all of these things and I want to share some of the best methods to go about them with you.
I’ve been painting with oils for almost three decades, and drawing for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a full time fine artist for over a decade now, and have been doing guest demos, private and group lessons for many years, for va
rious subject matter and age groups.
After graduating from Tyler School of Art at Temple University with a major in Painting, I had jobs making signs by hand, doing T-shirt designs, and in a graphic design studio with clients like M&M Mars, and Revlon. As a freelance artist, I did logos, movie poster illustration, album art and packaging design. I even scored and created sound effects for some short films! Yes, I play keyboard as well.
For my fine art, I’ve worked in many different mediums including watercolor, acrylics, digital, ceramics, sculpture, metal casting and photography. But painting with oils and drawing are my most preferred ways of creating (drawing is the basis for painting). I’ve painted and drawn many different kinds of subjects, but the figure is my favorite. I've worked from photo reference and from life (something right in front of me) as well as from my imagination; the range of styles that I have used have gone from photorealism all the way to cartoons. I am also proficient in Photoshop, which I currently use often to create composite images as reference for my paintings. My paintings have been displayed in many shows across the country, and have sold internationally.
There are all kinds of different ways to approach drawing or painting the same thing. You should use the techniques that feel most natural and work best for you. I will customize your lesson to the subject, medium and speed that you prefer, so that as long as you've got the necessary fundamentals taken care of, you can make strides in whatever area you want. I hope that you will sign up for a lesson with me so I can show you how! If you're not sure where to start, just send me a message and we'll figure it out!
"I really am enjoying my art lessons with Deron. Drawing is something I've wanted to learn for years. Deron is personable, patient, and quite knowledgable
in this realm. He's a talented artist! I feel like I gain new insights after every lesson."
"Jessica is a great teacher. She has spent much time with me, teaching and helping me complete my art portfolio. I highly recommend Jessica if you want to
improve your drawing skills!!"
"She's very talented and professional. My son is 7 year's old and he loves attending lessons. I'm so happy we found her. Highly recommend her she very pati
ent and loving."
"My son is a beginner in drawing and is a bit apprehensive about his drawing skills. I really appreciated and liked Margarita's approach, setting music to
create a relaxing atmosphere for drawing, explaining the steps, and the foundation for sketching. I think we approached drawing wrongly and after the lesson I changed our way. We play music now (which he likes) and he is drawing more often and is more relaxed."
"Rosemary was very helpful, friendly and non-judgmental. She really helped me with my portfolio for high school!"
"I’ve been taking drawing lessons with Eileen for awhile now and I really recommend them. It’s the calmest and most focused hour of my week and I’m learnin
g a lot."
"I was very lucky to take private lessons with Danil - after only a few of them I had a clear systematic approach to my drawing process. I very much apprec
iate analytical way of work in art, and that’s what Danil was doing greatly : he sharpens the tools while keeping your individuality. Highly recommended!"
"I have really enjoyed my drawing lessons with Kelvin! He is very detailed in his instruction and ensures that his students learn the essential skills nece
ssary to become good drawers. He is very encouraging and honest in his feedback. I appreciate his transparency when critiquing my work. I need to hear the truth in order to get better. When I draw something that he is astounded by, I will know that I have truly earned his respect. My lessons fly by because we're having such a good time. I'm enjoying the journey."
"I'm a believer in classical education so Kai was a perfect match as a teacher. Watching his demonstrations I visually register the method, and then the fe
edback I get on my drawings points me where I am lacking. I had all these ideas I wanted to draw/paint, but I couldn't form the correct shapes. I still have a long way to go to make those pieces but as van Gogh said "So that what used to seem to me to be desperately impossible is now gradually becoming possible". I guarantee you, learning realistic drawing will fuel your creativity even more. Kai is an interactive teacher, so you will also hear many great stories and the names of many great artists that you can explore."
