I love playing and teaching the violin, and I'm so excited to share my experience with you! I have over a decade of experience with students of all backgrounds and experience levels. My time at The Juilliard School has prepared me well for whatever challenge you would like to take on together. Whether that is growing your love of the instrument, learning a new piece, finding better practice skills, or audition preparation.

Congratulations on taking an amazing first step into learning the violin, and I look forward to meeting you in our first lesson.

About Jocelyn

I have been teaching privately for over a decade, utilizing a blend of methods designed to help students discover violin technique and music theory, as well as develop skills in hypothesis and deduction that will help them become independent musicians and artists. Jocelyn has been an absolute inspiration to me during our lessons. I was a bit nervous trying digital lessons with a new teacher, but she was an INCREDIBLE help to me as a violinist. Definitely book a few lessons with her.

I have been teaching cello to students of all ages for over six years. I aim to tailor my teaching plans to each student’s unique goals and learning habits. I structure my lessons so that students learn and play what they enjoy, while also building a strong foundation of fundamental cello technique.

About Isabella

I recently graduated with a B.M. in cello performance from the Juilliard School. I have over six years of private teaching experience with beginner and intermediate cellists. I was also the co-founder and former director of the Wilton and Congers Roots of Music Camps, was on the faculty at The Cello

My student-centered approach means students feel important. Students have my full attention without distraction. My studio is well equipped with Steinway grand piano and full set of teaching aids. The studio is large enough to social distance and all precautions are taken including the following of CDC protocols.
My experience is wide and deep. As a piano teacher of all levels for decades, I am able to easily assess your current skills and create a plan for us that will keep you motivated.
As a teacher of children for decades, I am sensitive to the psychology of children. I am empathetic and understand how important it is to build trust and how easily that trust can slip away if not respected.
I am a virtuoso. I can be viewed on youtube and continue to create videos of major works. I am not all talk. I walk the walk.
I have a multi-dimensional approach. Ear training, repertoire, analysis, technique, theory and problem solving are all part of it.

I have been teaching piano almost as long as I have been performing, coming up on 10 years. To date, I have taught lessons to over 100 different students ranging in age from 5 to 70, and ranging in skill from complete beginner to college piano performance major. I can teach students of any level and help them overcome any problem, whether that is a technical problem, interpretative problem, or having pain during playing.

Not every student is going to think I’m the best fit for them. I expect consistent practice, completion of assignments, and attention to detail in music. I have had many trial lessons that don’t pan out because the student or parent thinks my expectations are too high for them. Make no mistake; I expect a lot, but I also care deeply about music and have great understanding and sympathy for those who genuinely try. Whether your goal is to learn to read music, improve rhythm, learn to play the great classical repertoire, or simply have a good time learning the ...

About Kessa

I received my BM in piano performance from Brigham Young University, studying under Dr. Richard Anderson and Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. While there, I studied pedagogy from master teachers Dr. Irene Peery-Fox and Dr. Jared Pierce, who taught me both how to run a studio and how to manage individual lessons

Excellent. Nothing gets by her; very helpful.
Caleb
I had the opportunity to work with Kessa when we were both in undergrad and I was trying to decide whether or not to become a music major. I was feeling pretty discouraged with my current piano teacher at the school and talked with Kessa since we had a class together and I knew she was a piano major. I had a few lessons with her and she gave me so many helpful ideas about how to approach my pieces and improve my practice habits. She was very kind and didn’t make me feel bad at all, but still pushed me hard in those lessons because she believed in me. Even though I ended up deciding not to go into music after all, I still value those few lessons I had with her and recommend her to everyone at any level.
Marissa
Kessa is a very professional and talented piano teacher. My son loves going to lessons and we love hearing him practice such pretty music. We're impressed with Kessa's ability to explain confusing concepts and to encourage my son when he is having a tough time. She's done so well with transitioning to Zoom lessons during the pandemic and we love being able to have lessons from home.

Classical music is the foundation for everything else!

I have been teaching piano for over 40 years, full-time for the past 15. Besides the actual repertoire, technique and theory are always included in my lessons because they are essential. Sight reading and ear training are also included in some lessons.

I stress accuracy in playing and attention to details! I also teach my students HOW to practice. Slow, accurate practice is the answer. Practicing takes patience!

Please note: Home lessons must be at a location that I can get to easily with public transportation. I do not have a car.

About Emil

I started to study the piano at the age of seven with Hrant Minassian in my hometown of Island Park, New York. During high school I continued my studies with Jack Chaikin , a graduate of the Juilliard School. I attended Hofstra University where I received a B.A. in Music in 1979. At Hofstra, my pian

I took up the piano as an adult, without having had any experience in it as a child (though I played guitar through college). I tried a few instructors prior to discovering Emil, with whom I have been studying now for over 2 years.

Emil is a wonderful teacher. He is far and away the most accomplished piano player I have studied with, and his knowledge of, and facility for, playing really comes through in his instruction. He is always bringing formal instruction back to the act of performance, and how to make whatever piece you are working on, even the simplest, sound the best that it can be.

Emil isn't afraid to share his own struggles with whatever piece he is currently working on, and pointing out that he faces the same challenges that every practicing player faces.

Emil is personable, knowledgeable, and kind. I can't recommend him highly enough as an instructor.
Travis
A wonderfully skilled teacher with decades of experience, Emil will certainly help take your playing to the next level.

Emil is very easy to work with and is a fun and inspired teacher. My daughter loves taking lessons from him.

My son loved magic lessons with Jeff. He is very patient too!

Jeff has been providing great instruction in a comfortable environment. Each class Jeff is prepared with a list of things we are going to go over, and we review things from the previous week. He will show you how to make or bring props that you may not have and will let you try them out to make sure the trick works for your routine. After each class he has emailed me links to videos that provide alternate explanations as well as some more advanced techniques of things we may not have gone over. For me, in person learning works a lot better than Zoom and Jeff makes the classes both fun and instructional. The 1-1 in person environment he has will really help you excel your abilities. Each class you leave with at least a few tricks that you can start working on immediately. I would highly recommend Jeff!

"Shannon is just the best piano teacher ever! She is always professional, always prompt, and always fun and encouraging for my sons (age 8). It might seem like teaching twins would be easy; just give the same lesson twice! But Shannon immediately noticed the differences in their learning styles and has tailored each lesson to meet each one of them at their own learning level. We have concerts and homework. We have great lessons where they sailed though and got gold stars and lessons where we learned that more practice is needed. Shannon makes it fun for them, they are always excited to see her. But she insists on attention and pushes them to learn. I would recommend Shannon to anyone wanting to learn to play the piano!!"
