I noticed in my first lesson Tamera was throughly prepared with all the foundational info that I would need to be able to stand before walking. She was also mindful to allow me to sing as I normally would so she could correct my errors and therefore help me achieve my best potential

About Dan
Dan, a multi faceted musician, composer and educator active in the tri-state area since 1994. Dan's eclectic education, upbringing and fields of interest render him one of the unique voices in the dynamic field of current music education.
In an era where old boundaries are breaking and a growing musician needs to have expanded horizons, Dan stands out in the crowd.

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Dan received his musical education from the Rubin music academy in Jerusalem and the Manhattan School of music in NYC where he completed a Masters degree in classical composition and Jazz performance. Dan's playing and compositions were performed nationally and internationally, reviewed by the New York Times, The St Louis Post Dispatch and other publications.

Currently Dan is teaching composition, film scoring, theory and ear training at the

The newest addition to Dan's expending circle is The Red Bank Regional High School for the performing arts where he has a been a guest lecturer since fall of 2011.

Dan has been giving private lessons of music and music related subjects for over 20 years.

The system Dan developed over the years of teaching is based on two fundamental principles-
The paramount importance of developing sound traditional skills and the strong conviction that you should always tailor the method to the student and never tailor the student to the method.

Dan's eclectic background enables him to draw on a wide range of musical styles and techniques, fulfilling the needs of students from all walks of the musical experience. Lessons are available in the following areas for all ages and levels:

On the first lesson with Dan as an intermediate/advance level student, I have certain expectations of the kind of guidance I need to improve my playing (even if I usually play for my own personal pleasure). Dan was able to pinpoint some areas that I could improve which were very helpful. Looking forward to having more lessons with him.

I am a versatile piano teacher with experience teaching students of various ages and levels.

About Alexandra
Music has always been a very significant part of my life. I began taking piano lessons at age seven and grew up listening to and playing classical music. As I started to grow older, the piano began to become such a large part of my identity and a way for me to express my emotions and creativity. My goal is to share and instill this love of music with others!

My educational background includes an MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. During my time here, I completed an internship at Westminster Conservatory teaching group piano classes. Upon graduating, I was offered a position as artist faculty and continued to teach private and group classes at the Conservatory.

I also hold a BM in Piano Performance with a concentration in Pedagogy from the Crane School of Music SUNY Potsdam. During my time at Crane,
I was enrolled in several piano pedagogy practicum classes, where I was able to work with both children and adult students, focusing on beginning-intermediate repertoire.

***Lesson Details****

A working piano/keyboard is required. Electronic keyboards should be full-size with weighted keys. Lessons are tailored to fit the age and level of each student. For beginning students, I start them off in method books that focus on performance, technique, and theory. Students are gradually introduced to musical concepts that will help to build a solid foundation and understanding. I work to reinforce these concepts during each lesson to ensure that they are retained. I believe that all students should be introduced to classical music, but I am happy to teach popular music as well.

***Cancellation Policy***
I ask that students give at least 24-hours notice in the event that they need to cancel. No makeups will be given for no-shows or cancellations with less than 24-hours notice.

I took private piano lessons with Alex for three years. Hands down, Alex was the best teacher I've had. Alex has a knack for teaching. She provided very targeted and detailed feedback on my techniques and taught me how to improve in a very precise way so that I was able to focus on my weaknesses. Alex was the kindest teacher one could possibly imagine. She always delivered her comments in a very accessible manner and made me feel very comfortable and believed that I could improve. I came a long way in the three years under her and I miss her lessons so much! I would recommend Alex to anyone who is interested in learning how to play the piano.

Alex was a very patient and excellent teacher. She made sure I knew the piece that I was assigned thoroughly before moving on to another piece. She is very good at detail.. I was sorry to lose her after having her for 2 and 1/2 years.

Alex is a very polite and patient instructor. She adjusts the lesson to the child's skills and pace. I have three sons who take lessons with her and it is important that each one is assigned songs according to their skill level and music preferences. Thanks Alex!

I have studied the piano for fifteen years. I have studied and taught in multiple styles as well. In my lessons, I would teach the basics of playing the piano, reading and understanding sheet music, and the fundamentals of music theory. We can cover classical piano styles along with jazz or rock and roll.

My teaching philosophy is that a teacher is just the guide. They must ensure that the student reaches their destination of their own accord and desires.

About Gillian
Hello! My name is Gillian and I recently graduated from the Crane School of Music with a degree in Music Business and Piano. I have studied piano classically for fifteen years, as well as the cello, banjo, mandolin, guitar, ukulele, and drums. I also study jazz, folk, rock, and play and sing in a band.

I have taught piano, cello, and banjo to students of all ages. I also have studied music theory for fifteen years. Please contact me and we can schedule a lesson!

When I started playing Jazz there was hardly any reliable resource available
to teach me where I grew up. Through a vast hard-earned experience both as a professional pianist/keyboardist and teacher, I have created a system of learning that saves students countless hours of wrong practice and frustration understanding the theory side. Many times before the start
of a semester at the Jazz College where I teach I tell my students
that my course syllabus can be summarized in 2 words:
Applied, Theory. Those concepts connected when taught and applied to
students through an efficient system of enjoyable practice leads to students playing Jazz sometimes in 3-6 months!

Because different types of people learn differently, as a piano teacher, I pride myself in being adjustable to each student and their needs to start or further their knowledge of the piano and music theory. I am also well-versed in several different genres or styles of playing such as classical, pop, jazz, Japanese, and playing by ear. I am confident in catering my lessons towards what each person wants to learn at various difficulties.

About Cheyenne
I started playing the piano when I was just 4 years old--though at the time, I practice begrudgingly, music took hold of me ever since. Music is a great way to express oneself and share with others how you feel where words may fail. I am a big believer of art helping to bridge gaps and help communication with those around us.

Because of teachers I've had that were strict when I needed a push, funny, eccentric, and caring when I needed a laugh, and most importantly believed in me, I aspire to provide the same encouragement to others.
