My teaching style is flexible and I want to find learning methods that work best for you. Do you learn more when you talk a lot? Let's do a conversation class! Do you learn by memorizing rules? Let's dive into the mechanics of Japanese! I believe that the best way to learn a language is by being immersed in its culture and finding books, movies or music that will make you want to understand more about Japan. I promise to keep the lessons fun and fascinating!

About Alisa

Translation and language teaching has always been a strong interest of mine. Teaching a difficult language like Japanese and motivating students to keep up with learning can be a challenge, but one that I find rewarding and worthwhile. In terms of tutoring experience, I was a tutor and class assist

Alisa did a great job teaching me Japanese vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and cultural context while I took Japanese 101/102! Since she has native fluency in both Japanese and English, Alisa was able to anticipate which aspects of learning Japanese might be particularly challenging for me, and gave excellent advice for handling those topics. A+!!!

Hello! I'm a native Japanese speaker and experienced Japanese tutor. I have been tutoring Japanese since when I was in university as a TA for international students. I adopt the best teaching method and material for each student's needs and make sure that learning experience is fun and effective.

About Tomoko

When it comes to learning a language, I believe that correct grammatical understanding and the amount of output are equally important. Hence I focus on both grammar and speaking/writing practice during my lesson for the best result and you'll feel that your Japanese is improving! My previous Jap

The lesson moved at a comfortable pace. As this is our first intro to Japanese lessons, we had some difficulties with word pronunciation, but Tomoko was patient with us. She helped us break the words down and understand the sentence structures.
We look forward to our next lesson.

Having attended American school on the weekdays and a total-immersion Japanese school on the weekends (and coming home to parents who only spoke Japanese), I was lucky enough to grow up completely bi-lingual. With over a decade of experience teaching in private and classroom settings, I make my lessons fun, high-energy, and tailor-made to each individual. Please feel free to send me a message, and let's learn some Japanese! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

I met Laura at Harvard University when we were both doing our MFA degrees in acting. Since our program was not a Musical Theater one and I was not a singer, I started to take private lessons with her to compliment some of the training in singing we were getting there.

Laura is a fantastic singer and actor. She has an incredible ear as well as great knowledge and experience of what makes a singing performance pop. All this makes her an outstanding coach.

Even now after graduation, I am still training with her. Our focus now is on continuing the development of my singing voice. My goal is to reach a level where I have the skill and confidence to audition professionally for musicals, and I know I am in great hands.

My Japanese lessons are unique in that I can adapt to multiple learning styles. I can empathize with English learners that have been struggling with Japanese grammar and sentence-forming issues that plague so many by explaining it in innovative ways. I am also very up to date with Japanese pop culture, history, and other fun aspects, such as travel, food, and music, so I often enjoy incorporating those fun topics into my lessons wherever possible!
