I've been teaching American Sign Language for 5 years, and signing myself for 18 years, and my students have gone on to develop a love for ASL, Deaf people, and Deaf culture. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to carry on a simple conversation in the language, and as time goes on you'll be able to feel totally at ease with Deaf people. I have great online tools you can use for free to practice between lessons, and I'm flexible with any other resources we use. I can't wait to meet you!

About Carla
I have been signing since 1998, spending every chance I can among my Deaf friends and immersing myself in the language as often as possible. I received my BA in Music with a certification to teach at Lubbock Christian University in 1998. Later I attended the Interpreter Certification program at Burlington County College in New Jersey from 2009-2011, and during that time took a summer course at Gallaudet University for the Deaf in Washington DC. Then in 2014 I received my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University. I have been teaching ASL at the high school level since 2011. I am also one of the interpreters for the Deaf at my church in Fort Bend County, TX, outside of Houston, where I am a member and actively involved in the Deaf Ministry.

Please feel free to ask me any questions y
ou have. I'm happy to get back with you, and I look forward to teaching you!

I have been an interpreter for 11 years and I am nationally certified through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be signing in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of grammar, vocabulary, Deaf Culture, and more. Let's get started!

About Tanya
I have been a professional American Sign Language interpreter for over 11 years. I graduated from MacMurray College with a Bachelors of ASL Interpreting and from Walden University with both a Master's degree in both Business Administration and Education.

American Sign Language students can expect to gain the foundational skills for conversation. Students will also learn the history and culture surrounding the Deaf Community.

Flute students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach students of all different ages and experience levels. I can teach American Sign Language students the grammar and vocabulary necessary for communicating in American Sign Language. I can teach flute studen

As a deaf person in a full hearing family and world, I grew up bilingually which means I was taught to speak and sign.

I have the patience - it's TOTALLY ok to not know sign language and you don't have to feel guilty about that. That is what I am here for - I will help you.

Take a deep breath, join me on a 1:1, and you will pick up signs without realizing - and then you end up being able to communicate with many more people!

About Amelia
I took an extremely scary fall off a mountain in Alaska on a backpacking trip; however, despite the pains and extreme weather, I kept hiking and found the trail again.

That's who I am. I keep my words no matter how difficult it may be - a promise is a promise. I am an adventurously visual and creative individual who thinks big and aspires to collaborate both hearing and the deaf worlds by finding common grounds.

As a profoundly-Deaf raised person in a hearing-dominant world, I grew accustomed switching back and forth in both signed and spoken languages. I tend to get along with non-signers pretty well because there are ALWAYS ways to communicate as long efforts are given.

In addition, I have been a peer English tutor for the past few years at my college so I do have abundant experience of working with people 1:1 to comprehend a diff
icult topic.

If you truly want to learn ASL from a DEAF-raised person, what are you waiting for? I'm here and available online for you.

I've been signing for almost 19 years. I have a Deaf son who is now an adult. Initially, I taught him and myself sign using library books. A few years ago, I went to college to study ASL, as well as Deaf culture. I actually know 2 different forms of sign language. Signing with me is FUN because it is my passion and is close to my heart as it's how I communicate with my son, his wife, and quite a few friends. Opening one's mind to ASL is akin to learning to SEE SOUND!

About Rachel
I've always liked sign language, after learning the alphabet as a child. I never really had a reason to learn it until I found out that my son was deaf. Initially I was concerned for him & any struggles he may go through because of it. That honestly dissipated quickly for me. I could now communicate with my kid! WooHoo! His very first signs were "cookie" & "crackers" because I had to bribe him to sign with me. His Deafness & our learning sign became our adventure! From brightly colored, tie-dyed hearing aid molds, to me teaching the neighborhood kids how to sign so that they could easily play together. Then discrimination from his school district set in. Momma bear came out. I found an attorney willing to take the case pro bono, I got my son a Deaf advocate through a local community service, and called our local newspaper & shared the sto
ry with them. Through that newspaper article, more parents came forward & reached out to me for help. That was the moment I realized my purpose in life; be it teaching sign, advocacy, sharing the rich culture that comes with it all.....This was & is my purpose. On an ironic little side note, I actually used to be semi-professional singer/ songwriter. Haha! Now, from time to time, I do enjoy Interpreting songs into ASL. I'm passionate, fun, funny but I can be pretty bad with the corny jokes. If you & I ever work together with sign Language, just be prepared for a wonderful adventure, but still within the safe confines of modern society. Haha
