About Rich

Music has always been my biggest passion. I started playing guitar at the age of 10, and I haven't been able to put it down since. In grade school I started my first gigs playing in bands and spent all of my time outside of school playing guitar.

Coming from a family of eight where there wasn't much money for schooling, I put myself through high school and college gigging, and teaching.

I earned a music degree from Wayne State University in performance guitar, studying under the likes of Joe Fava and Charles Postlewate. At the same time playing extensive clubwork, shows, concerts, studio work and teaching.

My styles include virtually all elements of guitar. Rock, Blues, Metal, Country, Classical and Jazz.

In "2006", I opened up a guitar studio in South Lyon Mi, where I taught, along with lessons from my home.

I take a very serious, professional approach to my music studies and my teaching, but with a very humorous, and free-flowing concept to keep my students interested. I am very patient, and truly care about the progress of each student.

Each student that I teach has a different lesson structure depending on what the student wishes to accomplish. I tailor each lesson to help them move closer at a rapid pace to whatever style of music they have the strongest interest in. But because guitar is such a diverse instrument with many different established forms of technique, I do advocate developing proficiency in multiple styles of playing.

While I completely approve of learning to play music from TAB which expedites the playing of actual songs, I highly recommend that beginning guitarists learn to read music as you never know what they might end up doing with their knowledge. (Studio work, shows, teaching, or other scenarios where reading music is essential).

Starting to learn any instrument can be a challenge. But with persistence, guidance, and actual progress, learning how to play an instrument can be of the most rewarding experiences, regardless of your age. With my help, you or your child will be able to enjoy the experience of discovering how fulfilling playing can be.

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***

Practice rooms with upright pianos.

Bgcheck Background Checked

About André

I'm a motivated and good listener teacher who loves to see his students accomplish their objectives. I have a Masters degree in Jazz from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor in Classical Double Bass from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria. I'm a active musician, both as a leader of my projects as well as sideman. I have played all around Europe, Egypt as well as much around in the new York area. I have also released two albums under my name, composing all the music in both of them.

I have been teaching for 4 years. Right after finishing my Bachelor degree, I started teaching in two music schools in Portugal: Academia de Amadores de Música (one of the most important music schools in Lisbon) and ESTAL. I have also made part of the staff of the Conservatório de Música of Azores, where I traveled monthly to

teach local students. I have taught double bass, music theory and conducted the school's orchestra. Since I moved to New York, I taught through the Manhattan School of Music Outreach Department, teaching young students about Jazz and Improvisation. I have also taught privately in my home studio, both bass and double bass as well as piano and theory.

About Coleton

Hi! My name is Coleton. I've been playing ocarina and ukulele since 2012 and ever since then I have loved it! Though they are both fairly simple instruments, they are able to do much more than you may imagine.

My hope is that you'll have that same enthusiasm toward music. I play a barrage of instruments, but my proficiency is in ukulele and ocarina. I hope to be the best teacher you've had!

About Clement

Teaching means the world to me. Music has been transmitted from generation to generation during the whole history of humanity and to keep music alive, we need people to be fully dedicated to transmitting what they learned to keep music growing, and to empower people to believe in themselves and that they can be apart of this amazing journey! First of all, I play because it's fun, and when I teach, I want the student to have as much fun as I do. I love to create a safe learning space where you can feel comfortable to make mistakes, learn about them, laugh about them, and get better every time. I do put an important value on work ethic ( not that I will want you to practice 10 hours a day ), but it is very important to understand that a good practice routine is necessary to get better and to have fun. We will learn many genres and of course

, focus on what YOU want to learn. I played in many bands from Rock to HipHop and Jazz, so we can cover a lot of different genres and styles of playing
Like I said earlier, my teaching is very centered on playing, and less centered on books because to me the best way to learn music is to play by ear and to learn how to listen. I highly value playing over songs to get to develop your drumming skills, going to concerts to study the greats, and ultimately having the student to play in a band. I will teach you basics and rudiments, but very quickly I will show you how to use those in a creative and fun way, so that your appetite for learning more keeps growing. I would love to meet you and get you closer to your drum dreams !

August 31, 2019
Being a first time drum student , I took lessons with Clement and he was so patient and really helped me build the confidence that I needed. Although I'm only playing for a hobby, I feel as if I can now call myself a drummer thank you to the guidance as well as the standard that Clement held me too. Also great hip hop producer!
August 31, 2019
After having taken some lessons online with various instructors, it is clear to me that Clément has been my best experience. Learning drums online was never easy but I am very busy so that's my only option, and he made sure that I always understood him clearly, sent me some exercises to practice after classes and always encouraged me and made me believe in myself. Still take lessons to this day and now I have my own band ! Thanks Clem :) !!
August 31, 2019
My kid had never felt so encouraged by someone!
Clem's method is impeccable and clear. I have attended to some of the lessons and I was as excited as my son to learn ! He makes it fun to learn and that was the best experience we've had so far.

"He is knowledgeable he is patient and overall he is persistent, he make sure the student understands by utilizing various methods ; in all I am happy with
my instructor. Thank you Luis I enjoyed our lesson today."
"Laura is the most incredible teacher that we could have ever wished for. My daughter took voice lessons from Laura from age 7 to age 13. She also took p
iano lessons for approximately three of the 6 years. Laura's coaching technique created growth in my daughter's skills and confidence that impressed everyone who knew her. Laura has a unique gift of connecting with her students, creating a comfortable environment and helping them build on their talent to accomplish their goals. She is the greatest!"
"Elisa was great! When I left our lesson, my voice felt healthier and refreshed. It's nice to see performers/teachers who actually take the time to underst
and the voice."
"Great Instructor."
"Senobia was knowledgeable and I appreciated her patience with my daughter as this was her first EVER vocal lesson. While my daughter was nervous, Senobia’
s professional demeanor allowed my daughter to feel confident. She can’t wait for lesson 2."
"Charlene possesses the perfect combination of skill, talent and temperament to make an excellent instructor and teacher. Not only does Charlene have sign
ificant skill and experience as a musician but also she has the ability to effectively demonstrate and communicate the principles and techniques of playing the violin from the most rudimentary level (i.e. my level) to the experienced level of serious talented students. Charlene does all this in a relaxed but serious manner. It has been my experience, that when noting deficiencies, Charlene addresses them with patience and corrects and guides the student along in a manner that is both honest and effective but never discouraging or dispiriting. Charlene is very adaptable at modifying her teaching methods or approach and can accommodate instructing elderly retirees (i.e. individuals like me) or some of the youngest students with the tiniest violins you ever saw. In other words, Charlene is very good at assessing a student's goals and asperations and customizing her approach to the individual student's needs and current abilities. Charlene sets clear goals for improvement and learning new techniques and motivates the student to improve and strive for a realistic and achievable level of skill. I would recommend Charlene to any student of any age and any skill level."
"Jacob is awesome. Super caring and understanding regardless of what level you're at."
"Kevin is a wonderful instructor and is great with kids/teens. He makes learning music easier and fun. We absolutely recommend him to everyone."

Violin Tips: Avoiding the Bouncing Bow

By Suzy S.

As you're learning how to play the violin, the art of holding and placing your bow just right is important to master. There are a lot of details that go into proper bowing technique, and each has the potential to make or break your sound. For many beginners, learning to control the bow so it doesn't bounce against the strings is the first step. The dreaded  "bouncing bow" is a common issue, especially if you're trying to play softly, or if you're nervous. Here are some possible reasons for a …
