A native of the Pacific Northwest, saxophonist Kareem K is a performer, composer, and educator, who is in high demand for his talents both on and off the stage.
Growing up in the northwest with its vibrant music scene allowed Kareem the opportunity to study with, listen to and perform with world class jazz artists residing in the area. Artists such as Tracy Knoop, Jay Thomas, Don Lanphere, Bill Ramsay, Hadley Caliman, Julian Priester and many others had a large impact on Kareem early in his musical education. This direction and guidance continues to inspire and lead Kareem as he continues his lifelong passion undertaking a career as a professional musician.
Today, as a performing artist he spends most of his time leading his group for which he composes and arranges most of the music. The band is constantly on the move as a sought af
ter performing group and spends most of its time performing in and around the Pacific Northwest. When not leading his own group Kareem can be seen and heard performing as a sideman with many other top notch musical acts and projects, most notably The Paperboys from Vancouver BC.
As an educator Kareem divides his time teaching jazz improvisation as an artist in residence at The Tacoma School of the Arts, directing the award winning student jazz ensemble at Pierce College, conducting masterclasses and workshops at schools around the Puget Sound area, and maintaining a full load of private students. Along with his teaching duties Kareem is the director or The Tacoma Jazz Association, serves on the Tacoma Arts Commission, and is a D'Addario Woodwinds performing artist.
Kareem holds a Bachelors Degree of Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Washington which he attended after receiving a full scholarship.
Throughout his years of teaching Kareem has worked with students of all ages and abilities, from beginners just getting started, to advanced players who simply want new ideas and direction.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are relaxed and are focused on what you would like to learn.
I usually begin with assessing where students are in their abilities and then come up with a lesson plan based on what they already know and what they would like to accomplish. They can be geared towards a 5 year old with no musical training whatsoever, or to an advanced musician who wants to further develop their skills.
Topics that I cover in lessons throughout a typical day of teaching include: Instrument technique, sight reading skills ( note and rhythm recognition ), memorization skills, music theory, ear training, improvising, and composing.
After 3 to 6 months of lessons and regular practice a beginning student should have a good command of their instrument and a strong foundation of sight reading. At this point we normally will also have started some music theory as well. For students wanting to focus on jazz we will have already begun improvising as well.
*** Studio Equipment *** 5x10 room w/ piano and seating for parents
*** Specialties *** I focus on the basics of learning to read music and basic technique on the instruments that I teach. From there I proceed with theory, ear training, improvising, composition etc. It all depends on what the students want to learn. I am comfortable teaching classical music as well as jazz, rock, composition, and improvisation.
Kareem is superb. Under his tutelage I am certain I will advance quickly from my current skill set. I'm more convinced than ever that I can become a real musician. His assignments require the commitment that I am willing to invest. I hope I will live up to his expectations.

My granddaughter is 6 years old and this is her first professional piano teacher. Kareem is ensuring that she has the basics down before she continues. She enjoys the lessons, and is excited when lesson day comes.

My daughter absolutely loves Mr. K!! He is very patient and takes his time to always answer ANY questions she has. She loves taking piano due to him being so awesome!! If you are looking for a great teacher for your little one there is no need to look any further!!
We will work from the bottom up, starting with proper breathing and warm up exercises. Scale work and technical drills are made fun through games and other means to keep things interesting :) Repertoire work will be chosen according to experience level after basic assessment, we can work together to find something you enjoy playing. Basic theory and music history will be addressed naturally as we work through new pieces!
I am more than happy to work on any other music you are currently playing for school or other ensembles.
Let's have fun and work hard!
I received a Bachelor's in Music Education and Performance from Drake University in Flute and Piano. Currently pursuing a Master's in Music Therapy.
At Drake, I received a musical scholarship covering 80% of my tuition costs. I was also honored to sit as Principal Flute in both the Drake Symphony Orchestra and the Drake Wind Symphony, the top performing groups at the University.
I started to play the flute and piano in second grade, and my love and passion for music have only grown and matured since then.
I enjoy sharing what I've learned, and learning from my students as well.
I am excited and thrilled by the opportunity to work with you!
Both my daughters (ages 6 and 8) are taking piano lessons with Kristin. She is a great teacher: patient, encouraging, listens to the kids, and makes sure they enjoy the lessons. We hope to have lessons with her for the long run and highly recommend her for a positive music experience.

Kristin was such a wonderful teacher for our young daughter, Margaret! We had to move out-of-state and are struggling to find someone who can fill Kristin's shoes!

My daughter loves going to her. She is in tune with a pace that works well for my daughter.
I have been teaching flute for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I look forward to working with you.
Hello, my name is Doyle B. and I am eager to help you reach your goals! I've been teaching private lessons since 1992 and have loved helping my students win competitions at the state level, learn how to advance rapidly on their instrument, and fall in love with making music. I have 3 earned degrees from Pensacola Christian College (B.S. in Music Ed., 1992), Hobe Sound Bible College (A.A., 1993) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Church Music, 1996). I have experience teaching all of the band instruments, violin, guitar, and piano. I'm an enthusiastic, upbeat person who greatly enjoys working with people of all ages. I am presently employed at Hobe Sound Bible College and Christian Academy. I presently have students in New Jersey, South Dakota, Florida, and Maryland, who I teach using Skype or FaceTime. Fortunately,
I have a couple openings in my schedule to teach any one who is serious about excelling on his/her instrument. I look forward to helping you reach your potential.
The student will be instructed on the basics of proper playing techniques, music theory, and musicianship. They will learn to read music and also play by ear which will make them a well rounded player.
About Luther A.
Luther unique talents as educator, instrumentalist, conductor, vocal coach, cinematographer, composer and arranger make him a sought-after teacher. Currently, Luther is working with the Bridgeport Board of Education at Roosevelt Elementary School for President Obama's Arts and Humanities Turn-Around Arts Initiative he is the Executive Director and Program Director of Blackwell's School of Music and Film and Minister of Music Director for New Hope Missionary Baptist Youth Singers.
Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.
I've been playing flute for 25 years, and teaching for almost 10 years to students all ages and levels. I'm specialized in classical repertory and public performance.
Educator with 10+ years of experience, focused on providing personalized education and incorporating new technology into the teaching process, as well as fostering intellectual and personal growth and serving as a role model who instills a lifelong desire to learn.
Esther is an excellent teacher. Patient, funny and creative. She meets you where you are. Highly recommended.

Instructor is very energetic and enthusiastic. Conversation is interesting, and she stops to make necessary corrections to my Spanish.

Esther is a great teacher and I highly recommend her, especially to those who want to improve their fluency and to those (like me) who are just too afraid to start speaking Spanish. Lessons with her are always fun and interesting, and she always knows how to explain everything in a simple and understandable way!
Hi! I have a Bachelors in Music Education and have taught lessons for many years. I have 3 children and decided to give up regular teaching to be with them. I have taught at over 10 different Marching programs. I marched Drum and Bugle Corp. I have played brass a lot because of it. I can bring an eclectic education to teaching flute my primary instrument, but I can also teach many other instruments. The main problem I have noticed with beginner flute players is the in ability to focus their air in the most efficient way to produce a rich tone. I believe tone is the most important area of study with any instrument. It doesn’t matter what you can play if it doesn’t sound good. I can help with music you are having trouble with and also with fun music! The term is to “play” your instrument, isn’t it! Can’t wait to meet you!
Hello! I started my love of music at a young age with my family playing and singing at family functions. That turned into a wanting to learn how to play the flute and I went up through high school with that instrument. After high school I branched out more into vocal performance. After that I joined a traveling performance group. No not the circus! I joined Drum and Bugle Corp. They taught be how to play the Baritone and I marched a straight Baritone. I then learned the Mellophone and marched that after. Since I had experience with Drum Corp Marching I taught over 10 different marching programs over many different years. I graduated from College with my Bachelors in Music Education and was a music director until I had my children and decided to give up regular teaching. After all of the years I spent honing my craft I decided t
o continue giving lessons. I have the most experience with Flute, but can teach many other instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone/euphonium, piano. I have worked with many different age groups and levels of ability. I am happy to help you learn to have fun and "play" your instrument!
Mrs. Bemus provides a calm nurturing approach to teaching. She saw potential in me, and helped inspire me to become a future educator myself.

"Frannie Brodeur has our highest recommendation. Frannie has been teaching our son since he was 7 and thanks to her expert guidance he is, at 15, preparin
g to audition for Juilliard in a few years. Frannie understands how to work with children and teens: our son always feels encouraged not squashed, respected and appreciated rather than criticized. After 8 years, he still looks forward eagerly to his lessons. Frannie is unfailingly sensitive, patient, and humorous, and it's very clear she enjoys kids. Frannie is also a remarkable flutist, and our son aspires to her gorgeous sound. As a professional musician, Frannie is able to meet students at whatever their skill level."

"As a parent of a 14 year old flutist, I was apprehensive in doing online flute lessons initially but am glad that I did. We chose Pam for our on line less
on teacher based on her high level of experience. My daughter needed help with her audition music and Pam was able to work with her to get her ready with our tight deadline that we had. Pam even took it upon herself to look into all the material that was needed for her audition and scanned the missing docs that I overlooked. She is always thinking ahead and preparing material for the next lesson. I would highly recommend Pam for a private lesson teacher, I am glad we found her!"
"I was taught by Ms. Galick for 3+ years. I learned so many things from her and had such a great time being her student. She knows how to fix the things th
at need fixing and always has great analogies for things. We would joke in lessons very often; she was funny and knew how to get me on track. I improved so much in the years we spent together."
"Heidi is a great flute teacher. She helped me learn and progress quickly. I would recommend her."
"Wonderful! Very knowledgeable and easy to learn from!"
"Beautiful flute player and teacher. My daughter loves taking lessons with Sara!"
"Ms. Kelly is the best teacher ever! She is so kind, fun, and understanding. I am a busy sophomore in high school with a lot to do, but she always has some
thing fun for me to learn/ play. I like to play more for enjoyment (although she did help me make it to my high school's Symphonic Band) , and I like that Ms. Kelly asks me to my best, but doesn't put pressure on me on things I don't want to do. I'm so happy to have such a nice and talented teacher. She is also super-responsible with sending me lesson notes, as well as keeping up with my schedule. Also, she has a very nice personal relationship to me as a person, not just as a student."
