Mastering fundamentals is extremely important when learning a language. I will tailor the lesson to your needs. We'll begin with mastering the sounds of each letter, then move on to common words, phrases, and simple conversations. Whether it's for travel, leisure, or work, practicing is key. Once you get your footing, we'll expand your vocabulary and understanding of grammar.

About Joy
I am a graduate of UC San Diego (bachelor of arts, sociology) and UCLA (master of public policy). As a child of immigrant parents, I value diversity and love learning languages. I read, write and speak Spanish fluently, and have intermediate command of both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese in reading, writing, and speech.

Photography has been one of my main areas of focus for over ten years. I am trained in both film and digital formats and specialize in demystifying the DSLR so that you gain a good understanding of manual settings and how to use each to improve your photos.

Caring, compassion, and understanding are essential for learning and I strive to do my best in these areas.

Great first lesson. Joy introduced the tones (which had previously scared me!) in a sequential and well-paced way. She had good resources for the lesson and assigned homework to practice what we learned. Excited to practice and continue learning!

I have been tutoring for 5 years. I put a high emphasis on word pronunciation along with tone of voice. I teach beginner, intermediate and advance levels of Spanish. My lessons consist majority of conversation, writing and imaginary situations to help make my students have a better understanding of the language. I also include teaching dialect slang, discussing music genres (we listen to Latin American music of course), in person (we if we meet, at someone point depending where we are in the curriculum I go by we do a mini international party where we bring in Latin American cuisines, beverages such as smoothies, wine/beer tasting (providing if your legal drinking age of course). The one thing I also do that not many educators do with their students, which is strongly recommended is that we go to a Latin American country and we put your skills to the test!!!! (Optional)

About Justin
For five years, I've tutored many students a variety of courses listed on my profile here both online and at educational institutions. I'm a very patient and an opened minded person, so I'm willing to work with you in whatever way that suits both of us. I teach you the material that I do in a simplistic manner as possible so that way you leave my lessons like a rock star. I also offer extra help/or reteaching a lesson if you need it. I have worked with students in all skill levels, so I know how I can help you understand the material to most effectively achieve your goals, realistically speaking. Please feel free to ask me any questions for any concerns or etc.
