About Bruce
I received my degree from the University of Utah in instrumental music education. Along with specialized training in band and orchestra instruments, I also offer lessons in guitar, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica in playing and performance. When a student has a song they want to learn, I focus lessons around the requested song. I also have an extensive library of songs that I utilize. My music methodology is built around a song book that also has a CD attached. This has proven to be a lot of fun for all my students. It makes practice time more fun as they "play along" with the CD.

*** Lesson Details ***
With folk instruments I start by teaching the student basic chords and basic chord sequences.
In the beginning I stress the proper hand position and I spend some time perfecting the best finger position. This eliminates a lot of pr
oblems that will come up later. For the first songs I teach them songs that use those same chords and chord sequences. Soon after that I teach them how to read music. This is vital to being able to play lead on any folk instrument. As the student progresses he or she is exposed to many different styles of music I also will teach several different picking and strumming patterns. .The student is also taught about more advanced chord progressions and music theory that can be used in any situation.

For brass instruments I teach techniques in developing breath control and embouchure development. Attention to these details will eliminate problems that could come up in the future. The student will learn how to read music from the start. As the student develops these basic techniques I begin working on tone development and breath support. As the student progresses he or she will be exposed to many different musical styles.
During the past two years I have been working for the Clark County School District as a Para Pro. I help students that need extra help to be more successful on their instrument.
I specialize in teaching the lower brass family. That is the Tuba, Trombone and the Baritone. I also train new teachers in the lower brass family if the new teachers has no experience when they first start out.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room: Instruments, bookshelves, open space, additional seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can rent a guitar/banjo.
I can provide an amplifier.
I can provide PA and analog recording equipment.

*** Specialties ***

Bruce knew where he wanted to go in the lesson. I thought I knew more than I actually knew, and Bruce could sense it and directed the lesson appropriately. I think I’m going to make more progress in a few months than I have in the past two years.

As a performer with the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble, Indianapolis Wind Symphony, and the Indiana University Symphonic Band, I have extensive performance experience as an ensemble player and as a soloist. I am familiar with the common repertoire of trombone music/etudes, and can assist students with anything from supplemental lessons to their curricular music program all the way to college audition prep.

About Chris
Originally from Bloomington, IN, I've worked as a music instructor and professional musician for over 8 years. I love being involved in all aspects of the music industry, whether it's writing, teaching, arranging, performing, recording, producing, or promoting.

I have taught over 50 students in the 6 years I've been teaching, and have had several of those students go on to become music majors in college. My focus as an educator is to establish fundamentals and vitally important techniques as effectively and quickly as possible with my students. Then, it becomes more enjoyable and sustainable to begin making great music (all the while incorporating those important aspects of being a musician!).

My primary instruments are drums, saxophone, and euphonium. However, I am proficient and frequently perform on trombone, clarinet, bass, g
uitar, and many other instruments. I enjoy playing jazz and classical music the most, but have performed professionally with groups of just about every popular genre! My musical interests have no bounds, and I believe that all music has something great to offer.

So, let's get started: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, we can begin rapidly building your musical foundation/career right away!

If you are not having fun while learning an instrument you won't want to learn. Lessons can be fun AND educational at the same time. I have had many parents tell me I'm one of the best teachers they have ever seen. (A couple of them were public school teachers themselves). I truly want my students to succeed and I will do everything in my power to help them accomplish that!

Want to play your favorite songs? Want to write your own songs? I'm your guy! All ages welcome. I will customize your lessons to fit your goals and needs. When teaching total beginners, I like to start with an appropriate method book in conjunction with basic arrangements of popular songs that the student can relate to. We use those resources as a vehicle to a strong foundation. And then gradually introducing the student to new genres that may not be as exciting to them. I also spend a great deal of time discussing the importance of breath. I will often incorporate Breathing Gym exercises into our session. I encourage my students of all skill levels to perform publicly whether through competitions, recitals, or paid gigs. Students enjoy showing off what they’ve worked hard to accomplish!

About Cadence
I believe in the power of music and truly believe anyone can learn. In 2013, I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. In 2015, I earned his Masters of Education degree from Walden University.

I have had the opportunity to perform in countries all over the world including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and more. Some of my active memberships include, the Houston Pride Band, Texas Music Educators Association, and founding member of the Mu Tau chapter of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.

I have over 10 years of experience as a private instructor. I began my career teaching private lessons to middle school students as a senior in high school. I continued teaching younger musicians as I worked to earn both of my degrees at the University of Texas at San Antonio a
nd Walden University. I now teach music to young learners, and am currently helping to prepare students as they audition for admission into various college music programs across the country.
