Erica T.

Boston, MA

About Erica

My name is Erica and I have been playing violin for 17 years and teaching for 7. I have a violin performance bachelor degree and Suzuki Teacher Certification for books 1-10 from The Cleveland Institute of Music. During my time teaching in the Suzuki program I worked with 15 students at different levels of playing and age groups. I also ran group classes on Saturdays. I completed 100 hours of lesson and group lesson observations. After those four years of undergrad I went on to receive a Master of Music degree at the Juilliard School. I had a private teaching studio in New York with 10 stu
dents ages ranging from 5 to 60 years. I am now receiving a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory. My quartet is in the professional quartet program. Although I am a student, this program does not require any classes. We make our own schedule and so I am very flexible with my time! I moved to Boston this September and I currently have 2 students. I am looking to build my studio!

I have been working with Jen on music for over ten years. Just recently, in the last 6 months or so, I went to her to help me tackle a specific problem in my voice. Within just a few lessons, she developed an insight into how to help me, and we began to make real progress. I now have a specific pathway in which I am confident that with persistent work, I can overcome this problem. Jen has real insight into the human voice, and true compassion and patience when working with others.

Shizuno F.

Boston, MA

About Shizuno

Hi! Very quickly about myself: Born in Japan, raised in Miami, FL since 6 months old. I speak Japanese at home with my parents (and have went to a Japanese Saturday school in Miami), english with my friends, and being raised in Miami, I'm able to speak Spanish as well - but not as fluently as Japanese or English. I have a sister that is 5 years younger than me so I am very good at teaching my specified courses because I have always taught my sister things since she was born. I was a kindergarten teacher assistant for 2 years, and I love kids. They inspire me every time with their energy and ha
ppiness they radiate to others.

My favorite hobby is traveling (as a result, I studied abroad this past semester in Valencia, Spain) because I believe meeting people creates more of a depth to my personality and character.

Times listed could be changed depending on circumstances so please don't be afraid to ask me about anything! :)

Shizuno taught me piano for 3 years when I was in middle school. She always managed to make the lessons fun and interesting, which made me look forward to our weekly meetings. It it because of her that I continued interested in piano and hope to continue playing and studying throughout college.
