My 13 year old daughter has been taking lessons from Jared for 4 months. Jared is versatile and really knows music. His stlye is very relevant and he keeps my daughter interested in learning by teaching her music she knows and hears on the radio and at home. I would definitely recommend Jared for anyone who wants to learn not only how to read music but how to master the guitar, the correct way!!

He is an incredible musician and I'm proud to call him and his manager my friends. His new album coming out is nothing short of amazing. In fact everyone I've mentioned on this list are pro all the way and great guys as well. I"m honored to have played with them.

I challenge my students to view music more than just as a "skill", but also a tool to communicate effectively and to combat life's obstacles.

I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW. Congrats Rog. U Earned It, & inspire myself, & others everyday.

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.

But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!

I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.

Mathew has a very approachable way of teaching music theory and it's application. He has a wealth of knowledge which is evident in how he speaks to me( his student), his accomplishments, and how his lesson plans are laid out. I have attended many other tutors where the curriculum was dull and uncomprehensive. With Matthew he took the time to find out who and what I liked and aspired to sing like, then made a tailored plan allowing me to sing songs that I want to. Matthew takes an approach that simplifies theory and makes it fun. I look forward to more lessons with him, and will look into guitar lessons with him as well

Matt wasted no time and gave me a quick refresher in areas I needed. He helped me to realize what and how I need to practice. He also helped me to apply what he taught today by showing me some riffs using those areas and techniques. It was fun!

Awesome teacher!

Shortly after Matt began working with my 10-yr-old son, he moved from the east coast to the west coast. After some skepticism, we decided to continue lessons via Skype. He is amazingly patient and my son has been doing so well. I didn't think my son would be able to learn via Skype, but Matt has really helped him be successful. Matt has been on top of sending us all the lesson information quickly. Thanks Matt for continuing to work with Lawson!

Jesse S.

Bothell, WA

I teach intermediate and advanced students who are looking to improve as musicians. What's most important to me as a teacher is helping you achieve your goals in music. I have great ear training experience as a jazz musician and I can help students learn music they hear on recordings. My specialty is teaching improvisation on the guitar, which is a HUGE part of playing the guitar today with the exception of classical guitar.

About Jesse

Jesse is a jazz guitarist and vocal jazz accompanist who lives in Seattle, WA. He graduated from the University of Southern California with Cum Laude Honors in 2015. Early on, he was exposed to jazz music when he saw Bruce Forman play at Jazz at Port Townsend about a month after picking the guitar up. After that moment, he has worked hard to become the player he is today. One who deeply is rooted in the tradition of swing and repertoire from the Great American Songbook .At USC, he not only studied with vocalist Kathleen Grace to become a better accompanist, but he also took voice lessons with
her to see what it's like to be singer. He also had the privilege of studying with Bruce Forman, Kathleen Grace, Bob Mintzer, Pat Kelly, Adam Del Monte, Sara Gazarek, and Aaron Serfaty. Jesse is also an experienced teacher. He prides himself in having a very positive demeanor and being a patient teacher with the ability to adjust to different learning styles.
