About Steve

Steve began his musical journey on the piano as a child, later moving on to explore clarinet and trumpet in band before discovering the French horn in high school. Though he earned his bachelor of music in horn performance at CSU, Sacramento, he never gave up the piano, teaching students and accompanying choirs throughout college, and earning scholarships for both instruments. Steve has played for a number of musical groups, from orchestras, chamber groups and community bands to being a pit musician in musical theater and opera. JoAnn R. Carmichael, CA

About JoAnn

Your lessons are designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to successfully perform in public. I work hard to prepare your lessons and I ask my students to invest daily time working on skills studied at their lessons. Performing music requires the patient integration of multiple skills over time, however, the rewards are BIG. I continually update my teaching methods by attending workshops and master classes and I incorporate my knowledge of human anatomy and function, to help you perform with minimal strain. Also, I incorporate internet resources in your lessons to keep them interesting and up to date. What will your lessons be like? At your first lesson we will explore and name the parts of your instrument (voice or cello). We'll talk about what you ...

I am a brand new singing student, although, at 59, I am not brand new. After my first three lessons I am completely satisfied that I chose the right instructor. JoAnn is warm and friendly and makes me feel welcome and comfortable. It is clear she has a deep knowledge and love of music and singing, has a lot to offer her students, and enjoys the teaching interaction. I am thoroughly enjoying the experience and look forward to every lesson. Although my development is in the very early stages, I'm already noticing progress and certainly a more educated awareness of my voice.

Great Voice Teacher!

I really enjoy my voice lessons with JoAnn. She is a great teacher! I've been taking voice lessons with JoAnn for a few years now and am so happy with how I sound and feel while singing. I started out as a complete beginner with quite a bit of tension in my body and have progressed along nicely these past few years.

JoAnn is extremely knowledgeable about music and really enjoys sharing that knowledge with her students. She is passionate about music and teaching. JoAnn is patient and really makes an effort communicate effectively with her students. I’ve always appreciate her enthusiasm and the effort she puts into planning my lessons.

JoAnn also has a lovely music studio. It is comfortable, private, light, and airy with a nice view of her backyard. Her music studio is quiet and I never have trouble hearing her, myself, or the keyboard.

Great teacher!

Jo Ann is a wonderful teacher. She is very knowledgeable, patient, responsive to the needs of the students, and provides excellent explanations. I started taking lessons with her as a complete beginner and, with her help, learn to understand the features of my voice and the mechanics of voice production. Also, it is very fun to work with her!
Kimberly B. Roseville, CA

About Kimberly

I grew up in a household of 9 where music was always center stage. We would sing as a family in different venues and were often called the VonTrapp family. I have enjoyed singing and performing from a young age. I began studying flute at age 8, after scoring highest in the harmony listening exam and began formal violin lessons at the age of 9. I studied all genres including, fiddle, classical, musical theater and 20th century. I have continued to study violin since then and have performed in many orchestras and small groups, such as Honor Orchestra, the Paradise Symphony, the Yuba College Orchestra, Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society Orchestra and more. I have been concert master and first stand in many of these. I have also soloed in many and have been the first violinist in quartets for ...

Great Teacher!!!

Kimberly is an excellent teacher and I highly recommend her. She is patient with you as a student and explains things at your level. She is very knowledgable about music as she plays many instruments and has a great ear. As an adult student she had me learn to read music early in the lesson which I found to be very helpful. Lessons are at her home and it is in an appropiate setting. My Lessons fly by as she has an engaging teaching style and she stays focused on helping your improvement from week to week. She is flexible in rescheduling your weekly lesson if needed.I would rate her an A+ as a Music teacher!

PERFECT MATCH FOR MY 5 y/o!!!

Kat works very well with little ones. She was very relaxed from the very first visit which definitely made it even easier on my 5 y/o daughter. During our last lesson my daughter had the case of the "sillies". Kat's tone remained the same & never once showed any signs of frustration. She was and is absolutely wonderful with her! Kat has an amazing voice & my daughter cant stop talking about her & cant wait for her lessons. We definitely made the perfect choice!

Excellent Voice Teacher for My 8 Year Old Daughter

Kat has been an excellent voice instructor for my 8 year old daughter. She is kind and patient, yet has a buoyant energy that engages my daughter in a way the some teachers cannot. The techniques and skills she is imparting to my daughter are invaluable. I highly recommend Kat for anyone (of any age too!) looking for high quality voice lessons.

Instant Satisfaction

Matt is doing lessons with my 6-year old son and from the moment they met it was magic. Matt talks to him at a level he can understand, is so patient with him and really allows for him to have fun while learning at the same time. Matt is our third instructor over the past year and he is by far the best. My son is enthused about picking up the drums again and excited when Friday rolls around.
