*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching is simple. The primary goal is to have fun and enjoy the experience of making and creating music. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in music or just wanting to add a bit of a creative outlet to your life, let me help.

My specialties include jazz, r&b, and pop piano styles. I do teach a little classical but primarily to beginners only. My curriculum is simple. I try to teach you what it is YOU want to know and that which fit your needs. There are some fundamentals that we all must learn, but typically I can have you playing a song your first lesson. As you progress, you will be able to learn to play songs on your own and interpret simple chord charts with melody.

For those students who already actively play, I can help hone your skills, offer performance, recording and studio tips and techniques.

90 and 120 min lessons are only offered to those students wishing to learn production and do NOT apply to piano lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Your lessons are given in my pre-production studio in my condo. Lessons take place on a digital piano either a Yamaha or a Casio Privia. If you are taking production classes, then see the list of gear below. My space is tidy but not always immaculate. I am a working musician and often have several projects juggling at once. There is room for 2 to 3 in addition to the student. My living room is always available and wi-fi for those who wait on a student is also available. More than ample parking is available at any time.

As a novice piano playing student, I was introduced to reading music as well as playing the piano by Buzz Amato, a great pianist and instructor. I would be remiss if I did not share how wonderful my piano lessons have been under the many talents Buzz offers as a piano instructor. His ability to convey concepts/theories of piano playing into understandable and applicable practice has made my learning experience enjoyable. Buzz is a good listener, very patient and observant, and acquires an innate gift to teach piano playing in ways that encourage me to continue my lessons. Buzz is a highly skilled piano instructor.

Gene O.

Decatur, GA

About Gene

Hi there. My Name is Gene. I've been playing music for a good chunk of my life and I'm really excited to share what I've learned with you. I attended the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, where I studied guitar and vocal performance. I've written, produced and recorded several of albums of original material. My music has been played on radio stations across the country. I've also been fortunate enough to have some of my songs placed on television here in America, in England and in Asia. In addition to teaching guitar and song-writing lessons, I currently play in an original rock band. I was
also a finalist in the Unisong International Song Contest two years in a row and one of my songs won the American Songwriter Magazine lyric contest a few months ago.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to make learning as fun and easy as possible. We'll start with the basics so you can stat playing as soon as possible. From there I encourage students to bring in songs that they would like to learn to play. Rock, Pop, Blues, R & B, whatever you like. I find it making the learning experience more fun when students get to work on songs they like. My goal is to equip you with all the basics of guitar performance or songwriting if that's your interest. Book a lesson with me and let's get started, before you know it you'll be playing the songs and styles you love.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room set up. Hardwood floors. Couch coffee table. Guitars. Small amp. Computer. Parking lot behind building. One dog.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide paper for notes, and printed curriculum that the student can take with them. I expect the student to provide their own instrument.

Great Instructor

Gene is a great instructor. He is very kind and attentive. I'm a beginner and I do mean beginner. But Gene takes time and let's me know that I can accomplish playing regardless of my age. I'm an old hippy! So learning songs like "Imagine" and "Knocking on Heavens Door" is right up my alley! I look forward to my classes! Here comes the 54 year old hippy with guitar on her hip!!! Thanks Gene!!

Linda is very patient with my Asperger's/ADHD son. She has offered several different ways to approach his math work and clearly was thinking about new approaches between visits. She is a kind, gentle woman and having her help with the work has been so helpful. She even spent extra time to show him some guitar, in case we want to take lessons (upon my request because we're interested in that). Linda has offered advice on several resources that I didn't know about for my journey to assist my son with his challenges. We have been very happy with Linda.

Wes F.

Atlanta, GA

About Wes

I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I ha
ve a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are progressing. I find that some students thrive with a lot of structure and others prefer a looser approach and I am quite comfortable teaching both ways. If the student maintains a consistent practice regimen, they should be able to play songs from the radio within 3 or 4 months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room with an amp, keyboard, computer, desk, parents can sit on couch in a separate room

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my student to provide their instrument (including amp if necessary) and any instructional materials required.

*** Specialties ***
I have had a lot of experience teaching beginning and intermediate students with method books, and have used them to teach reading, theory, technique, and repertoire. Most often, I take a slightly looser approach which I feel allows me to mold my teaching to fit the individual student's needs

Excellent Instructor

Wes is an excellent instructor. He is patient, clear, encouraging, fun, and totally professional. I highly recommend him to anyone (young or old) wanting to learn the guitar.

Wes listens to what the student wants to learn and sets his lessons to help the student achieve their goals. Our lessons are in the instructor's studio, which is a safe, accessible, and clean environment.

I look forward to our future sessions and continuing my guitar learning under his instruction.
