Kendra was my instructor for several years and through several skill levels. I began lessons with her learning theory and counting, and several years later performance with other musicians. She has the patience and experience to guide pianists of any age and skill level.

Kendra guided me early on into a love for classical piano and theory. I had other teachers who gave me primarily their own favorite composers, but Kendra showed me an array of composers and helped me find which style fit me the best. She encouraged me to go beyond what I thought I could do to what she knew I could do, but she did so with kindness and complete confidence in my skills.

Kendra also drew me out of the solitariness of classical piano solos. She taught me modern piano and how to play within a group. Harmonizing with guitarists, drummers, and vocalists is a completely different arena than mastering a sonata by Chopin or Bach. Kendra focused on rounding out my talent so I wasn't focused on just one part of being a pianist.

I took piano lessons from Kendra for almost three years and loved it. She was very easy to learn from and helped foster an environment of creativity and encouragement - not pressure or unrealistic standards. Kendra has lots of experience in both classical and current/modern music. That was perfect for me because I wanted to learn the piano for pleasure and practicality. I wasn't interested in becoming the best classical pianist, so she helped me grow into what I really loved and enjoyed, which was learning to play worship music. I would highly recommend Kendra as a piano teacher to anyone who is interested in taking lessons, especially if you are a beginner who wants to explore where piano might take you in life and what you really love about it.

Renee M.

Blanchard, OK

About Renee

Hello, there! My name is Renee and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2014 and can teach beginning method, classical, and pop. I went to the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting in 1995. I attended the University on a non-major's scholarship playing the clarinet and participated in the University of Oklahoma Marching Band.

I took piano lessons growing up for 9 years learning classical music and performed before the National Guild yearly for those 9 years. Currently, I play piano and keyboards for
my church. I'm a patient and fun person and I believe everyone learns at a different pace. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

***Lesson Details***I teach out of the Bastien Piano course, and others but am open to trying out any music books you may already have in your home. I do expect my students to purchase the books if taught online and to have the material I have given them for homework ready, completed, and practiced by the time we have our weekly lesson. I recommend at least twenty to thirty minutes of practice every day, and will give rewards for reaching goals and for performing well in our lessons. I love using songs that the student enjoys to make his or her music learning process fun.

*** Studio Equipment***
Upright piano and metronome

***Travel Equipment***

Strategies for Sight Singing
It may seem like instrumentalists have it much easier when it comes to sight reading music; by simply pressing a key or a string, the notes are immediately available to them without any additional thought, and all that’s left to them is to work out duration, dynamics, and tempo. Singers, on the other hand, don't have an instrument to rely on. Taking a song previously unknown to you and delivering a reasonably accurate performance the very first run-through isn’t a talent that everybody has.
Singers, Here's How to Make Cover Songs REALLY Stand Out
Singing popular cover songs can be a blast -- it's a great way to rev up your crowd, and gives you the opportunity to show off your skills and make the song your own! Here, online voice teacher Emmanuel M. shares his tips to keep in mind...   For those of us who love to sing, there are some songs that we just fall in love with and can’t stop singing. Sometimes, this passion inspires us to record popular cover songs and upload them online for others to adore. However, sometimes there
Learn Bass Guitar: How to Play a Walking Bass Line in 3 Steps
Looking for a way to make your bass lines move? Bass guitar teacher Miller W. shares his three step plan to creating walking bass lines... The walking bass line is one of the most fundamental parts of American music. It is found most commonly in blues and jazz, but as you learn bass guitar, you will hear its influence in almost any style of music. A walking bass line provides a strong rhythmic and harmonic foundation by smoothly moving from each chord to the next using four quarter notes per
8-Year-Old Girl is Gnarliest Guitar Shredder Ever
I'm willing to bet that "playing like a girl" will stop being an insult within this little lady's lifetime! At just 8 years old, Lisa-X is able to play rapid fire metal solos that will melt your face off and blow your mind. She's smaller than her guitar, but she sure knows how to make it sound big and mighty. Plus, the sweet grin she gives the camera as she's bending a note around 1:46? Priceless! Child prodigies like Lisa are absolutely amazing, but there's really no wrong age to star
