My piano students study classical, Judeo - Christian, and certain ethnic styles. The December recital will feature two Beethoven Sonatas, a Bach Prelude and Minuet, "Hava Nagilah", and the three Latin favorites "La Cumparsita", "Miami Beach Rhumba", and "Tico Tico".
About Steven
I love to learn music! So do my students. After childhood lessons, and BA and MA degrees from Minnesota and Iowa, I worked for private conservatories in Los Angeles, while teaching and playing for church events and celebrations. In that real-world school, I learned the music that the world

I'm always impressed with how Jessica is patient with our 7 year old daughter and still is able to draw her out and motivate her when she is tired from school. Jessica always finds creative ways to be inspirational. Both my husband and I drive 15 miles to be able to have Jessica teach our little girl. We think she is worth it. She has been flexible and always tried her best to work within our schedule and has even driven out to our house to cover a lesson when things didn't work out in the schedule.

I teach beginners through early advanced levels and have been doing so for 30 years. In my studio you will begin with the basics and when those are solid, you may choose a classical or recreational path or combine the two. The studio curriculum includes various styles and genres of music so you will be getting a well rounded education. Scales, chords and technique are also taught.
About Linda
Hello! Thank you for your interest in Evergreen Piano Studio. I have been teaching piano for over 30 years. Lessons are given in my SE Olympia studio, or online. If you are just beginning or have been playing for awhile, I have a place for you in my studio! The course curriculum includes note-

She was only 5 1/2 when she asked to start learning piano, and even though I thought she might be too young, I didn’t want to discourage her. Linda said that as long as she could count from 1-10, knew her left from right and the alphabet through “G” she could start learning piano.
We have had stretches of easy sailing and lots of rough patches. It’s been a great set of life lessons for our family.
Linda tried several different approaches to see what would work best for my daughter. She has a great balance of patience, structure and encouragement. She’ll let my daughter chatter on about (non-piano related) stuff for a minute, and then, gently but firmly, get her back on track.
We have gone to several recitals and enjoyed hearing her other students play. We are consistently impressed.
My daughter has been taking lessons for two years now, and finally loves piano. She sees the benefit of working at something that doesn’t come easy. She practices every day without complaining! (She’s practiced every day for a while now, but there was A LOT of resistance in the beginning, and middle, lol). Now she knows that most people are not just naturally talented, they actually put in time and effort.
I’m sure Linda would be great for any adult too. One of these days I just might have to find out for myself... although my daughter keeps insisting she’s going to teach me!
Daily practice at home for my children has turned into a fun habit, and I do not have to be involved much anymore. Linda is a role model for how an instructor should be and I highly recommend her to everyone. I am very thankful to Linda for bringing such an appreciation and joy of music into my sons lives. Our family moved to Portland three months ago, but we are still driving to Olympia once a week for lessons because so far we cannot find another instructor with the same excellent qualities.

I have taught piano since 2012. I prefer to take beginners, and I do especially well with younger students. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

Thanks Ben!
He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game).

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.
Thomas has studied piano for 15 years, and continues to play regularly. His education has included courses specifically on musical instruction methodologies, and he has been trained as a pianist at the collegiate level.
About Thomas
Piano, woodwinds, trumpet, composition Chords, sight-reading, theory, jazz, classical, and pop No one ever regrets learning an instrument… yet many grow old wishing they had taken music lessons! A talent they’ll be able to develop their entire life, your children will thank you for giving them

My daughter, now age 7, has been taking piano lessons with Jenny for 9 months now. She is progressing quickly. Jenny is patient with her, even when my daughter is not interested and squirming around in her seat. She has given her a broad amount of knowledge, both theory and practical, and my daughter flourishes (when she wants to)! Jenny has tried to make it more fun for my daughter to keep her interest by creating easy versions of songs that my daughter will enjoy playing and singing. This has made a world of difference to my daughter. Even though my daughter dislikes practicing, I can see that she is progressing and enjoys playing when she learns how to properly play a song."

He does not rush while giving the lesson, but rather genuinely cares about the students progress and is very creative in his style of teaching I would highly recommend his program."
