Certified to teach Music Theory

Currently perform traditional classical music, jazz and blues standards.

About Aleena
I've been teaching piano and art for 7 years and I've been associated with TakeLessons for 6 of those years in 2 different cities. I am able to travel during certain times and I also have studio and online availability. ***Although my training was in classical music, I currently compose and perform a variety of genres besides classical.

I get so much gratification teaching and music improves math and other cognitive skills. I'm an encouraging and flexible teacher because every student is different and requires their own focus and individualized lesson plan. My teaching style includes the classical method and basic to intermediate theory integrated with contemporary methods.

I also employ an enjoyable environment and open communication with parents/guardians and adult students.

****One of my students was a 16 years old virtuoso i
n classical guitar. He came to me because he never learned how to sight read. Within 6 months he was writing his own music and decided to change his specialty from guitar to piano.
*****Another one of my students was told he would never be able to "sight read" which is to read music from paper but he was reading music and within a few months he was writing it himself.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals! I encourage anyone who is interested in learning to begin lessons with the knowledge that they can eventually create any kind of art they desire.
I continue to perform and create which enables me to sharpen and maintain my skills.

I hope to have an opportunity to meet you soon and I encourage you to ask any questions you have!!!

*****I highly encourage scheduling only 30 minutes for children younger than 12 and beginners of other ages. Students are more likely to focus and enjoy their lessons when they are shorter in the beginning. They can always be extended later.

My piano students study classical, Judeo - Christian, and certain ethnic styles. The December recital will feature two Beethoven Sonatas, a Bach Prelude and Minuet, "Hava Nagilah", and the three Latin favorites "La Cumparsita", "Miami Beach Rhumba", and "Tico Tico".

About Steven
I love to learn music! So do my students.

After childhood lessons, and BA and MA degrees from Minnesota and Iowa, I worked for private conservatories in Los Angeles, while teaching and playing for church events and celebrations. In that real-world school, I learned the music that the world loves.

I use that knowledge to fire my students' imaginations. If Bach or Mozart motivates them, we set goals to learn Bach's Toccata in D minor or Mozart's Turkish Rondo after two years of dedicated practice. These are realistic goals!
Maybe you would like to study Easter hymns for church, as one student did recently. Perhaps you would like to tame Beethoven's Tempest in front of sixty people at a nice recital hall.

*** Lesson Details ***
All my students can expect an experience focused on their musical goal
s, with lesson plans geared to 15 minutes of daily practice. Set the bar as high as you want! My students all choose to have a lesson every week under the recurring lesson plan, to make quick progress.
My studio has a big grand, and a digital piano. The neighborhood is quiet, with plenty of parking. Come with confidence, to a studio licensed in Albuquerque for twenty years.
After three months, a busy eight-year old beginner could have an easy rendition of "Ode To Joy" or "When The Saints Come Marching In" to perform for loved ones.
My students study technique, rhythm, fingering, expression and general musicianship. All this, while enjoying great musical selections.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The studio lessons are taught in a living room studio exclusively used for piano lessons including a Steinway piano. No pets. street parking

*** Specialties ***
Mostly classical, with occasional jazz, contemporary Christian, and popular. I mostly teach from notes, though occasionally with lead sheets and improvisation. Faber and Faber, Keys for the Kingdom, and Bastien methods are preferred until the student can play the composer's original notes. Then, their recital works tend to come from such as Bach, Beethoven, Clementi, Debussy, and Chopin.

An excellent, intuitive teacher

Mr. Steve is an outstanding teacher whom I would recommend without reservation. He works at the pace of each of my children and they are eager to work for him too. My son bores quickly, but Steve challenges him with encouragement and speed. My daughter is slower to catch on and he accommodates her speed with equal talent. He is creative in his teaching methods and also in his approach to advising more practice or encouraging practice methods. I hesitate to write this review because I don't want to share the gem we have found in Steve. He is kind, patient, encouraging, excited about the music and the kid's efforts, witty, professional and accommodating. 5 stars.

An excellent patient, teacher with a lot to offer

I have been seeing Steven for several weeks, and I find his manner to be informative and supportive. He is fond of what he does, and it shows. He's interested in students that prefer challenges, and that want to improve themselves. At the same time he understands that growth is a controlled practice.

I believe he is a great teacher with an interest in teaching his students.

I'm a classically trained pianist. I have been teaching this subject for 10 years. I have a traditional and non-traditional style when I teach. I focus on technique. I also record the student's piano performances. But most of all, I make learning music FUN!

About Ramona
I'm a professional musician and audio engineer. I'm a classically trained pianist and I offer lessons in piano, guitar, voice, music theory, music recording, music performance and songwriting.

I received my music education from The Brooklyn Music School, Cornell University and the The Institute of Audio Research.

I perform in original & cover bands as a keyboardist and back up singer. I also do work for hire session recordings and have composed music for commercials and short films.

As an audio engineer, I record, mix, edit, arrange, master and program demos, EPs albums, mix-tapes, karaoke tracks and ringtones. I also produce as well. I co-own a project recording studio in Brooklyn, NY called Radian Studios.

I'm very passionate about what I do and I guarantee a creative, enjoyable and fulfilling experience!

sson Details ***
For piano and voice, I incorporate basic music theory methods but I also focus on ear training as well. My ultimate goal when teaching is for the student to have a visceral experience while playing or singing.

For audio engineering, I go over audio recording techniques and the tools & equipment needed to produce a professional sounding song.

I enjoy imparting my knowledge of music to others and I demonstrate that enthusiasm in my teaching style. I love relating what I'm teaching a student to his/her learning style. Figuring out how someone learns is a key component to my method and I'm a better instructor because of it.

Moni is such a wonderful teacher! I am a beginner singer, and have been her student for about 8 months. From the very beginning, Moni was careful to give me a solid foundation to build upon. She has taught me some of the key essentials of music theory, and really helps me understand how to use my voice as an instrument. Added bonuses are that she records me in her professional studio and sends me the tracks, and she's very cool and easy to talk to.

I vary students’ lessons with their interests and find the best teaching methods and practices to fit their needs. Because I believe everyone is different and unique. No one can stop you on learning anything but yourself. Therefore, I want students to focus on every lesson and have to practice outside of class which are required and important. Playing music is fun but learning takes time!!

I like to engage my students in developing a “musical ear, mind and heart." No boring or tearful practice regimens. I know how to make learning music theory fun, sight reading skills easy to learn, and repertoire playing techniques joyful. My lessons are geared for you to become musically literate, play with rhythmic vitality, forward motion, and musical expression. I love what I do, and I want you to love playing the piano as much as I will enjoy teaching you.

About Elaine
Being a teacher for many years, one thing has become very clear to me: Children really need parental support and involvement for their child to get the most out of their lessons. This is especially important for younger children, but I also encourage parents of older children to sit in on all lessons.

With children I primarily teach the Piano Adventures® Curriculum because I like the different age appropriate level books that they publish. I also include ear training and sight reading in their lessons.

For adults, whether you are a beginning adult student with no prior music training or you are returning to the piano, I teach you the fundamentals for developing a good foundation for playing the piano. Beginners will learn music notation and musical form and be introduced to ear training techniques that excellerate the learning proc
ess. As you progress, you will learn chords, triad inversions, time signatures, rhythms, pedaling, and major and minor scales.

I have experience teaching special needs students and I am also happy to help seniors with finger exercises for arthritic hands, and brain stimulating exercises for those experiencing age related memory loss.
