About Paul
Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway. This yearly student recital gives students the opportunity to perform in one of New York City’s most sought after recital Halls located in midtown Manhattan. In July of 2014 Paul became a Steinway Educational partner. In 2008, Paul received a Masters Degree in piano performance from New York University. In 2006, he received a Bachelor Degree of Music from Stony Brook University.
As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

From a lot of experience with beginner piano students, both young and adults, I have been able to find a regimen of piano teaching that combines time efficiency with fun. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

I am a classically trained singer living, working, and teaching in NYC. I have a degree in vocal performance from The University of Maryland at College Park. While in the D.C. Metro area I performed as a chorister and soloist at The National Shrine, Metropolitan A.M.E Church, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. My exposure to a wide range of music, from baroque to contemporary gospel and musical theater, has strongly influenced my teaching. I was a total novice and the progress that I’ve shown over the past several months under Elliot's guidance is almost miraculous to me. He is honest and tough but always encouraging. His approach is quite surgical, technical and focuses on finessing the finest details in how you engage your body to create the best sound possible. My bad habits were identified and I was given efficient tools to counteract them. After singing for so long with improper technique I needed a teacher who could throw me in the deep end and the results speak for themselves. Crazy value for money!

Fay is such an amazing teacher! I got into Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School thanks to her. Best Teacher I've had, she helps train your voice and goes through the vocal anatomy so you understand techniques such as proper breathing, posture, coordination, grounding, acting, diction...etc. I've been her student for about a year three years now and I have to say that my voice has improved so much as a performer all thanks to her! Hi! My name is Jennifer Hines and I grew up in Long Beach but I have lived in Manhattan for a while. I am excited to come back and even more excited to get to know some love story sometimes those of you who want to add music into their lives , no matter where your dreams may take you. Music is an amazing thing and it makes me so sad that it is being taken out of so many schools. Many people don't think that the arts are important but they are essential if you ask me. It is extremely important if one starts to take lessons when they are young to have a teacher who knows how to really teach a good technique because if they are not worth a teacher who knows
how to teach technique they learned habits that are extremely difficult to get rid of. I teach many children presently from the ages of five through 12, some who have had lessons at most you have not, and when you teach very young children it is important to teach in a way that is fun and yet they learn what feels right and what doesn't The real local and physical exercises that I learned from my teacher at Juilliard so that while you are not going into extreme detail and boring then they are having fun and their bodies are learning the correct way to sing. I try my best to make my lessons fun but I also take teaching very seriously and I will give my all no matter what age the person is or if they want to do this in life. At the first lesson I always take half of it to listening to my student saying just to get an idea of where they are at, and then I like to sit down with them or if they are young I like to have their parent there so we can discuss what their wishes are And what and how they want to learn. I look forward to hopefully being a part of your lives as music has been a tremendous part of me since I was three years old and my love for it has only grown throughout the years I am being that I have studied and perform since I live five until now :-) I understand the changes in the voice throughout different periods of one's life so technically I feel very confident in being able to handle that, and being a performer at the places that I only dreamed of performing . I'm a singer-songwriter with prior recording, performing, and theatre training and although I have trained with a number of different instructors, Mary brought something new and beneficial to the table! Prior to beginning our lesson we had a brief discussion about what I've done and what my goals are, and then proceeded to make a sort of action plan on how to address everything! Just after one 45 minute lesson, I had learned techniques that I hadn't ever used before and could already sense my improvement. She gave me great mental and physical cues that I found to be extremely helpful. She is clearly very knowledgeable about what she does and her performance experience gives her a special edge and understanding when it comes to her teaching style.

As far as logistics go, I have both driven and taken the subway to get to her house. She lives super close to the L train (maybe a 2 or 3 minute walk?) and there is usually adequate parking nearby. Her home is lovely and the backroom where the piano is has incredible acoustics. I could sing there for hours!! Her cute pup Waka is also a nice addition/perk to the overall environment :)

Overall, I'm incredibly happy and so excited to see how she helps me achieve my goals!!

I had my first voice lesson in a long time with Mary. I've had years of training in the past, and Mary was very informed and knowledgable about different styles and techniques. She was constantly checking in with me about my experiences and what challenges I face to work on exercises that were specifically suited to my voice and its needs. She also spent some extra time with me to look through my audition material and help me to focus it a bit. Her beautiful home and workspace lent itself to a relaxing and rewarding` lesson that only went by too quickly.

Mary is an incredible teacher! She did a wonderful job of asking me what it was I wanted to focus on and then tailoring the lesson to that. She also was encouraging and make me feel safe to sing (and good about the sound I was producing!) while still offering exercises and ways to improve what I was doing. She also went out of her way to find me songs when I mentioned that I needed some more rep for my book! Warm, attentive, humble, and knowledgable, she is a teacher that you definitely want to study with!

I am a New York City based young professional recording artist, performer, songwriter, and vocal coach . I have a BFA performance degree in Music Theater, and have performed through Europe as well as the United States.

INCREDIBLE, HELPFUL, AND ALL AROUND AMAZING TEACHER! Not enough good things to say about Adam. He knows his craft, is extremely talented, and knows how to communicate in a way that makes it easy to understand and improve in just a few short lessons. A very patient and kind person who has helped my singing and stage presence tremendously. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Adam as a voice teacher.
My 10 year old daughter Spencer has been wanting to take a lesson for so long she's always singing Disney songs around the house, and finally I thought, why not give it a go.
When I first met Adam his smile was infectious, and I could already tell he knew what he was doing, and this was the right choice.
He sat down at the piano we have at home, and began doing scale work, within minutes time, I could already see that Emily was already enjoying the lesson.
They worked learning "For the First Time In Forever" together, and Emily now sings both parts, and very well/on pitch might I add.
Spencer takes lessons from Adam bi weekly, and is always anxious for him to come and share his knowledge with her.
I couldn't recommend him enough!

I had never had a voice lesson before in my life, and wanted to try this out as I have always been interested in singing.
I had one lesson with Adam, and now take lessons with him multiple times a month. He has not only helped me gain confidence in my vocal ability, but continues to provide fantastic training, and I feel my voice getting stronger with each lesson. I had no idea that I had an upper register, nor did I understand what that meant prior to working with Adam.
I can proudly say I am finding my voice more and more everyday.
He has shown me that anyone can truly be a singer.
