The key to this instrument is its simplicity! Learn to have unlimited technique to play any style.
As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I enjoyed many top-level bands the kindled my love and passion for good music. I want to share that kindling with my students in a nurturing and guiding situation, just like my teachers gave me. I used to go to lessons and become so motivated and inspired that I thought I could change the world. I always knew that I would want to give back exactly that. As my performance opportunities grew into venues like Churchill Grounds, The Rialto, and The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta
and Radio City Music Hall, 54 Below, The Jazz Standard, Bowery Ballroom, Shapeshifter and Flushing Town Hall in New York, my fire for wanting to develop my teaching did also. I was always thinking back to what my old teachers gave me, inspiration. I then understood that inspiration is the key to success in life.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons will be something the student looks forward to every week. We will work through common method books and learn material that the student has an interest in. For example, some students want to learn to play high notes, a popular song, improvise, or write their own songs. I am a laid back guy, but I do expect effort in the lessons and at home. I believe whatever you put into music is what you get out of it, and I will inspire and motivate the student to get as much out of the lessons as they can. Students will create, with my advisement, and update short term and long term goals every few months.
*** Studio Equipment *** Keyboard or Piano and Music Stand
*** Travel Equipment *** They should provide their instrument, instrument care products (valve oil), method books and sheet music.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in jazz and classical music. I use many common methods depending on how the student tends to learn the best, and will even combine different methods if the student requires it.
A great knowledgeable teacher; he conducts his lessons pleasantly and efficiently.

I have had several lessons so far with Gregory and as an experienced trumpet player can recommend him extremely highly.
I am getting back into the trumpet following a gap after playing for 10 years when I was at high school. Gregory has really helped getting my technique and sound going again, I have been really pleased with my improvement. He has a great demeanour and has been great fun to work with. He is also an excellent player, and is highly reliable and easy to schedule with.

Greg is supportive, patient and has a great understanding of how to approach the student to make the lesson interesting.
Everyone is unique (physically, mentally), and we all will play the trumpet our own way and for different reasons. Whether you want to learn how to build endurance, craft a beautiful tone, improvise or interpret classical works, you've come to the right place. I will cater what we work on to YOUR individual curiosity, interests, personal goals, and to how you naturally play the the trumpet. I will help you to discover your own voice on the trumpet, and at the same time make sure you develop great technique and musical ability. You will learn to control what and how you play, and grow as a musician!

liard Artist Diploma program auditions; 2015-Selected Participant in Banff International Summer Intensive Program in Jazz and Creative Music ; 2016-Semi Finalist in International Songwriting Competition; 2016-Recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award; 2017-Honorable Mention and Finalist in International Songwriting Competition; 2016-19-Full Scholarship w/ Paid Assistantship/Instructorship for Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder; 2019-Selected Participant in Banff Early Fall Musicians in Residence program; 2019-Finalist in Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works Grant Competition.
I perform and record as a featured musician with Festival of New Trumpet Music, having participated in two world premieres, and in ensembles led by highly acclaimed and/or Grammy-nominated/winning artists such as Steve Coleman, Henry Cole, Maria Schneider, Darcy James Argue, Orrin Evans, Josh Evans, Jimmy Greene, Tyshawn Sorey, Eric Bergen and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. I've performed at arenas, clubs, and concert halls alike, such as Carnegie Hall, The Putra World Tower, Symphony Space, the Barclay's Center, Dizzy's Club Coco-Cola, and Rockefeller Center to name only a few venues. As a leader, I've been performing original music all over NYC at known creative and jazz venues like Seeds, Cornelia St. Café, The Bar Next Door, Jazz at the Kitano, Shapeshifter Lab and Smalls Jazz Club, which Down Beat magazine considers to be two of the best jazz clubs in the world.
Besides professing a passion and skill-set for music within the ‘jazz’ idiom, my interest in and usage of sound draws from and many other forms of art. I've composed and arranged music for lyricists, improvised music for poetry readings at the Firehouse Space, and have provided musical accompaniment for dance classes, workshops, and performances presented by the Martha Graham Dance Academy and the Jeoffrey Ballet School. I've even co-choreographed short plays and have played for Marc Jacobs fashion runway shows.
My music also extends into the health and wellness community. I've served as a regular performer at the New Life Expo, and as a musical aid for art exhibitions (including a Syrian-post war realist art exhibition), Yoga classes at Jivamukti Jersey City, and meditation classes for WeWork, St. Peter's Church at the Citicorp Center, The Tibet House, Triskelion Arts the Firehouse Space, the Jewish Community Center, the New York Insight Meditation Center, and the NYU Skirball Theater.

I have also completed 6 semesters of service as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I taught multiple playing ensembles as well as three semesters of a 100+ student History of Jazz lecture class for non-majors.
I teach out of a my home apartment studio on the upper east side, complete with weighted 88-key digital piano, Bose high quality speakers, recording equipment, as well as musical media, and tablature spanning many musical genres, cultures and time periods. I also am equipped with a spacious floor space for Yoga, Pilates, Weight Lifting, Meditation, and more.
While I specialize in the following broad areas of musical study, my specialties are not limited to: General Music, Composition, Arranging, Ear Training, Music History (includes classical, jazz, and world musics), Music Theory, Sight Singing, and Songwriting. I also specialize in the following instruments: Trumpet, flugelhorn, and Piano/Keyboards.
Last but not least, while I have invested over 30,000 hours into my musical training, my interests, practices, and skill sets extend beyond sound and visual art, and into the realm of philosophy, science, physics and spirituality. I have been practicing various forms of fitness, meditation and Yoga for the past 5 years, and my studies span the gamut of psychology, philosophy, calisthenics, Astral Projection, Reiki, Vipassana Meditation, Visualization, and much more.
I believe and live by the idea that creativity is an energy that flows through us, and one's creative abilities can be improved and expanded, through the emotional body, which is influenced by one's perceptions. Throughout my training in music, the arts, as well as my physical, mental and spiritual pursuits, I have realized that discipline, creative flow, and love for what one is and what one does can come together and yield great fulfillment and sense of purpose.
I would highly recommend Jonathan as a music teacher. Jonathan is absolutely passionate about music, which is evident by his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is very patient with my five year old and encourages her to get her very best effort. Jonathan customizes the music and lessons for my daughter’s skill level while at the same time provides challenges to keep the learning process interesting. In a short period of time, my daughter's keyboard playing abilities have dramatically increased. I am very grateful to Jonathan for making learning fun for my daughter, who always looks forward to her lessons!

Jonathan has made a great impression with my son. He displays a great combination of patience and encouragement with Nick. I have seen an improvement in his trumpet skills as well as his confidence.
I've been teaching trumpet for 20 years and my students have gone on to the State level Band Auditions and won multiple times. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to make a decent sound, play scales, arpeggios and simple tunes, and as time goes on you'll be able to play popular tunes solo and with accompaniment of piano or band. I specialize in classical, jazz and klezmer style, typically use best published books, and have the renovated, quiet and spacious studio, music stands, audio equipment. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Meet the Business Owner
Business Owner Dimitry Chernavsky is the Principal Clarinetist of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra, the Co-Principal of the Hanover Wind Symphony, and a member of the 'A La Mode' clarinet quartet.
Dimitry is a graduate of Kiev Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Music Performance and Education.
Our 12-year old son has been learning clarinet from Mr. Dimitry for about a year now and we highly recommend him to prospective students for his deep music knowledge, rich clarinet performance experience and above all, just being a great clarinet teacher.
In a year's time with Mr. Dimitry, our son's progress has been very impressive. After our son started lessons with Mr. Dimitry, it quickly became apparent that Mr. Dimitry is a very experienced teacher for young musicians. He engages our son effectively to keep him interested in music and clarinet while at the same time sets high expectations for him. Our son always looks forward to clarinet lessons and also is motivated to practice pieces at home.
Mr. Dimitry not only teaches sound clarinet skills, but also emphasizes the importance of playing music the right way, that is to tell stories and express feelings through music rather than to play music like a technician. Although it is difficult for a young musician to fully appreciate this concept, it does go a long way in preparing him to become a really good musician in the long run.
Mr. Dimitry is very polite, pleasant and professional. We recommend him without any reservation.

My 7 year old son has been taking recorder lessons from Dimitry for almost 1 year now. Dimitry is very patient, encouraging, and enganging - considering that my son is on the younger side. Dimitry provides music instruction that is appropriate age and level wise, so my son feels accomplished and challenged at the same time.
We plan to continue with Dimitry and hopefully advance to the clarinet once his fingers can cover the clarinet holes and he has learned more music theory. My son looks forward to his music lessons. We are very pleased with his musical instruction.

Incredibly amiable, professional, and talented as a teacher.
As a senior in high school now graduating and transferring into college, I started my lessons with Dimitry in December last year and had to end this summer at the end of the music school's program. Even though my time learning the saxophone was short, Dimitry used my past musical experience to help guide me through the instrument. His lessons did not feel long in any sense of the word, and in fact some two-hour lessons I took to make up missed weeks blew by, as I was constantly engaged by his teachings. During my studies with him I found myself in the presence of a true musician, and this was only further driven home when I saw him play in the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Morristown Community Theater with Stanley Drucker. I would highly recommend Dimitry as an instructor for a student at any level.

Hired Kristen to help our son Eliot who was played French horn but was really interested in doing drum corps. I have to say, my husband and I eavesdropped on their lessons and Kristen really is a very patient and encouraging teacher. Our son was really happy and even I could tell he improved during his time studying with her. Would highly recommend.

Kristen was my horn tutor during my year of study abroad. I arrived in the country with one goal, to march in a drum and bugle corps for my age out year. It would be an understatement to say she really helped me make the most of my musical experience in the country.
I was really impressed. Kristen draws on the richness of her own performing experiences and she has a natural talent for teaching. I always left her lessons with fresh energy, a new challenge and just enough technical and musical direction to be pushing beyond my comfort zones as a musician.
I don't want to hammer the zero-to-hero story, but with Kristen's help I went from no marching experience, to marching on mellophone in a world class drum and bugle corps that summer. It was the most amazing year of musical development, both outdoors and in a solo and concert ensemble settings, and I owe a large part of that to Kristen for her supportive approach, flexibility and, of course, her expertise.
I should add, she's really relatable and I had great fun during lessons. 10/10 would take lessons again if I were in the right country!
I have a background in Trumpet techniques and music production. As a music producer, you must be aware of what's popular and what everyone is listening to. I bring that into the musical session. As a trumpet teacher for 3 plus years, I focused on ages 9 to 18 years old. Most students develop a healthy relationship with their instrument and good practicing habits. As a classically trained musician, I created a specialized daily routine to improve your trumpet playing. I always like to introduce new and fun techniques to develop proper air control, embouchure to mention a few. I also make an emphasis on the students potential. I believe this is key to a good musical session. Over the years I've encountered many students and I like to focus on the interactions with the music. I studied at The New School of Jazz and contemporary music. There I learned how to teach the language of jazz through free improv techniques. This exercise gives the musical session life and spontaneity with the ...

Had my first lesson with Jerry and though we had some technology issues I truly enjoyed his teaching and thoroughness of instruction. I wanted a professional trumpet player and experienced teacher and Jerry is really meeting my expectations. I’m truly looking forward to working with him each week. Also, his follow up after the lesson was outstanding.

Great first lesson. Told me things I forgot about. I'm sure he can get me to the next level.
I focus on fundamentals first with all of my students. We build up the groundwork of their playing so they can be successful as we move on to playing repertoire. As they progress with the basics, I focus on individual student learning needs and desires. I gear each of my private lessons to the specific student so they get the most out of each lesson.
I am a very dedicated educator with experience teaching private lessons since 2013. I graduated from Rutgers University with a duel degree in Music Education and French Horn Performance, and I am currently completing my Master of Music degree in French Horn Performance at New York University where I study with the acting Associate Principal Horn of the New York Philharmonic, Leelanee Sterrett.
I am currently the brass instructor at the lesson studio Music Forever in Edison, New Jersey. I also have experience working in various public schools including Readington Middle School, Holland Brook Elementary School, PS3 Charrette School, and Perth Amboy High School. In addition, I have coached chamber music through the Rutgers Extension Division.
As a performer, I have played in various orchestras, bands, and other various chamber groups.
As a co-founder of Prime Winds, a woodwind quintet, and Quartado, a horn quartet, I understand the organizational skills it takes to network and manage an ensemble. I was also the winner of the NYU Concerto Competition, and I will be playing Anthony DiLorenzo's concerto "Phoenix" this coming October with the New York University Orchestra.
I strongly believe that student centered learning is essential for successful student growth. I adapt my lessons to specific student learning needs based on my assessment of their abilities and interests. It is important to me that my students learn in a way that is best for them, and that they are going over material that will help them reach their goals. In addition to teaching my students how to play with great technique and a beautiful sound, I teach them what it means to be a musician in the 21st century. It is important to me that my students can understand how to use what they are learning about in real life settings outside of the practice room. I push my students to be excellent musicians as well as life time learners.
Kevin is a very passionate teacher who is dedicated to music with excellent teaching skills. He is being teaching my daughter for the past 1 year and I have seen my daughter progressed good at playing French Horn.
Kevin is very good in troubleshooting and explaining if the student is not able to play a music piece and is very patient while teaching.

Kevin is a really great French Horn teacher & musician! He also has helped me a lot with piano. I’ve been studying with Kevin for 3 years& I got first chair at my school because of him.

Kevin is an excellent teacher! My daughter Erica struggled in her band class, and she considered quitting. Once she started lessons however, she really progressed and now loves playing!
Online Special ! 15 minutes extra time for students who book online at no extra cost. //clinician, professional trumpet player & maker// Over the past 26 years I developed my own technique and teaching methodology how to play brass instruments the most efficient way.
The lip is the sound source which creates a standing airwave within the instrument and the trumpet functions as a filter and amplifier.
I also developed a special tongue technique which requires less movement when phrasing notes ( single, double and triple tongue) and therefore is faster, requires less effort, is very versatile, usable in any style of music and is much more accurate in hitting the notes.
If you understand these two aspects and are able to implement them you perform better with practicing less.
I cover all aspects of trumpet playing ( technique, breathing, posture, embochoure, equipment, phrasing, sight reading, improvisation, high range, endurance, sound quality, repertoire etc.).

She is an alumnus of the Conservatory of the City of Vienna and received an M.S. degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Lew Soloff.
As a composer, his stylistic versatility grew to include works for full o
rchestra, chamber groups, choral works, and multimedia events. He received commissioned works from many prestigious venues and institutions. "Caleb has been my son’s trumpet instructor for almost a year now. He has a keen ability to get across everything needed for a highly effective online less
on. I cannot tell you what a HUGE convenience it's been for us to have these expert lessons in the comfort and convenience of our home. I would have to drive 45 minutes over a mountain pass to get to the nearest qualified instructor. In the middle of snowstorms, and even with my son in p.j.'s, we can have our lesson right here at home. In an ordinary lesson environment a parent usually is expected to leave the room. With Caleb, I can be nearby while my son receives his lesson. This is helpful for me to reinforce points that Caleb made during his lesson with my son when he is practicing during the week. Currently he's working with my son on his honor jazz band audition, as well as a classical oratorio piece that he'll be playing on tour in Europe with our local community orchestra. Caleb is qualified to teach any style of music. He’s super friendly but never loses his honesty with the student. We often have special requests for each lesson and Caleb is able to tailor each lesson to work on the new pieces and still fit in valuable instruction with scales and solid technique. Not only is Caleb a great teacher, but he is on many professional recordings, and is a regularly-working professional musician in Chicago. My son is very lucky to have him as an instructor. We're very impressed with Caleb and know you will be too!"
"I really like William’s instructional manner which is calming and it builds confidence. He uses method books that I know, with my application, will make m

Whether you play trumpet, trombone, French horn, or any other brass instrument, there are several key factors to improving. Development of tone, technical facility and embouchure are important components. All of these areas will improve if you develop endurance.
The Mechanics of Developing Endurance
Developing endurance is nothing more than developing the ability to play your instrument while maintaining proper technique for an extended period of time. As many beginners know, practicing …
