I have a special place in my heart for beginning piano students. I treat them more like a grandchild than as a strict classical instructor would. I have eliminated the pressure to learn wherever possible. From the first day, my students learn to read basic music. The lessons I create are customized based on my student's interests, strengths and ability to learn. Each child is unique. Whether they are gifted or special needs, each student gets my full attention. I get a great deal of joy from seeing the faces of my students light up when they accomplish a piece of music.

An intermediate level student holds a special challenge for me. Many times, they come to me having developed bad habits or missing important musical information that could make them a better pianist. I see my role as filling the gaps that they are missing and taking them further from there.

My students come and they stay with me - some for many years. If this is the type of experience you are looking for, then we ...

We love working with Sharon! We have 4 daughters and we have been so impressed with how easy the online process has been, how the girls have taken to not having the instructor there in person, and mostly how supportive, understanding, encouraging, and wonderful of an instructor Sharon is. "Dani is really the best instructor ever. When I started taking lessons with her my goal was to prepare for a college audition. Immediately she helped me identify where I could improve my technique and offered a variety of exercises that suited me best. She is familiar with tons of classical repertoire as well as jazz and popular songs. I really enjoyed that she made my lessons challenging enough to help me grow musically, but always working on something within my reach. She also has many incredibly useful performance hacks to help get out the best of you when its time to be on stage. I am happy to say that all the time and our hard work was well spent. After I auditioned for the college I wanted I received not only the acceptance letter, but also a near full tuition musical merit based scholarship. Thank you so much Dani!"

"Dennis has been a wonderful guitar teacher and mentor for me over the last 18 months or so. I am in my mid-50s and was starting essentially as a beginner when I signed up to work with Dennis. Thanks to Dennis' patient and individualized approach, I have made great strides and am pleased with how I have progressed. While he is a very accomplished guitarist, he is also a very experienced teacher. Dennis' teaching approach is not to ask the student to follow a rigid learning plan or replicate the journey he took to mastering the guitar, but rather focuses on tailoring the lessons to the student's abilities, musical interests, time constraints, learning modes, etc. The bottom line is that I enjoy working with Dennis each week and practicing what he has taught me.

The pandemic has obviously thrown a big wrench into the giving of guitar lessons. Before, Dennis was teaching me at his house. We now meet online using the Takelessons platform. Online lessons took some getting used to and are clearly not optimal, but I think Dennis has become more and more adept at making it work as well as possible.

I heartily recommend Dennis as a guitar teacher."

"Teresa is excellent with my 8 year old daughter. We found her on-line and a truly fun and amazing journey has started for our family. Teresa is knowledgeable, kind, and has made learning fun. She encourages my daughters inner voice and has let her be creative and fostered her development with solid theory and she's developing an "ear" for notes. Not sure if there is a correlation, but her math comprehension is improving in school as well. My daughter has come to love the instrument and is interested in transitioning to guitar as she's ready. This process is happening organically and with joy. So delighted that we met Teresa."

3 Tips and Tricks to Learning Ukulele Chords

Having trouble learning chords on the ukulele? Here are some tips from ukulele teacher Willy M. that will help you master playing chords... Sometimes chords can be tricky to learn on any stringed instrument, and the ukulele is no exception. The good news is that with its nylon strings, a fewer number of strings, and a limited fret-board, learning ukulele chords is a little bit simpler than learning guitar chords. Nonetheless, there are still a few important things to keep in mind …
