I am a Bronx native professional opera-singer that has been studying singing for 10 years and playing piano since the age of 7. I have been teaching both voice and beginner to intermediate piano to all ages for five years throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens. My voice and piano lessons focus on developing a healthy technique, learning how to sight read, music theory, breathing exercises, acting, and having fun. I teach all genres and can help with audition preparation. My credits include getting students into competitive music schools including Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and Talent Unlimited High School.

My experience with Linda was great! I’ve only had one lesson with her but she was patient and understanding even though I was super nervous. She pushed me to do more and I’ve become more confident. I look forward to continue working with her :)

Linda is very dedicated teacher. I felt that she really listened to my voice and quickly charted a path forward to develop my technique, musicality, and most importantly a self awareness of pitch in my body.

I’ve studied musical theater vocal performance with a variety of some of the best voice teachers in NYC and also in Pittsburgh, PA during my time at Carnegie Mellon University. This genre covers many different vocal styles and has given me the tools to loosen into any performance setting, whether it be to nail an audition for a Broadway show, singing classical music, and even just crushing karaoke with friends.

I’ve taken bits from each incredible teacher I’ve had and put together an extremely healthy and strength building technique that I’d love to share with you.

About Jimmy

I grew up in NY and have been playing trumpet and singing my whole life. I have a BFA in musical theatre from Carnegie Mellon University. I have performed professionally in dozens of local bands at music venues around Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, and other places in t

With 15 years experience in teaching technique, I work strongly on breathing and vocal placement so that the student learns to sing correctly without hurting their voice. I have prepeared students for auditions to conservatories of music including Berkley College of Music, Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico and many more. I have also prepeared students that have auditioned to The Voice. I work classical and popular voices. I also give recording studio vocal coaching. You'll start learning immediately you start your lesson. I don't teach tricks, I teach processes.

Pedro Tirado is a gifted, insightful voice teacher/coach. He knew exactly what was hindering my vocal development and how to correct it. His explanations were clear and on point. Within only a few lessons my voice was significantly healthier, it was bigger and more flexible. He got me to sing up to an E6, five notes I didn't know I had after a lifetime of choral singing, mostly as a soprano. Although I had taken voice lessons before, I made more progress in three months with Pedro Tirado than I made in an entire year with another teacher. If you want to uncover your voice's full potential, go to Pedro.

He will guide you and teach you what you need. The posture, the way you need to breath, the way you're supposed to "stretch" your voice, the exercises you need to practice and many more things. I started not knowing anything and singing horribly but he taught me that you need to trust in yourself and you need to let your voice just flow, don't hold it back. Believe it or not, your voice has a personality, that was something he always told me. Let him mold you and teach you what he knows. He's the best teacher ever. If you have the opportunity to take classes with him, I suggest you do so. You're gonna be surprised not only with him but with yourself. He's kind, humble, hardworking and a great person overall.

"Deborah's expertise and professionalism are a pleasant surprise when you consider how young she is. I have met teachers that are decades older than her who do not have the ability to accurately tell you exactly what you are doing wrong or how you can correct it. You hear a lot of, "just keep practicing and it will sort itself out" from other instructors, and this could cause you to develop bad habits that could affect your voice. Deborah is the opposite of that.

She pinpoints exactly what I am doing wrong during my lesson and offers suggestions on how to correct it going forward. I appreciate that because if your instructor doesn't tell you, your audience will. And you might not like how they say it. I am there to go beyond just singing in the shower, and her constructive criticism only makes me better. She is also polite when she corrects you, she's not cracking the whip.

She focuses immediately on different techniques that will help you improve your voice so that you can PROGRESS, instead of just banging out scales on the piano lesson after lesson and overlooking mistakes a student may make like some instructors do. I hate to be this blunt, but there are some instructors I have met in the past who do just that (none of them are from takelessons) to me it shows a devotion to the art and a commitment to bringing out the best voice that you have she wants you to be as good as her! To me no one could ask for any more than that in a voice instructor. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher."

"I had a great experience with Dr. Galer! She helped me prepare for conservatory auditions, and because of our work, I received scholarships to FSU, FGCU, Indiana University, and Oberlin. I have also participated in programs such as Tanglewood and Palm Beach Opera Studio, and competitions such as NATS and PBMTA. All of this helped me to grow as a singer, in turn leading me to attend Oberlin as a voice major. Thank you, Dr. G!"
