About Sander
I have a degree in Professional Music. I currently play drums for People Like You (Topshelf Records) and Hip hop/neo soul/funk band Pet Jail. In addition, I have also played for various other musical projects and perform under my own project called H A U N T E R

When it comes to teaching, I have a very open mind to any kind of students needs. I make sure a student truly understands a concept before they leave the lesson. I also tailor my teaching style to each students needs to make them as comfortable as possible.

Sander is known for his unique approach to the drum kit and songwriting, taking strong influence from the likes of John Bonham, Elvin Jones, Chris “Daddy” Dave, Chris Tsagakis, Zach Hill, Deantoni Parks, Tony Williams, Vinnie Caliauta, and many others. Sander has studied with Greg Sundel (a long time student of J
oe Morello), Neal Smith, Ian Froman (student of Elvin Jones), Kim Plainfield, among other high-profile percussionists.

*** Lesson Details ***
The way I teach is based on a student's skill level from the beginning. Depending on age and their attitude I will be more laid back or strict. When it comes to getting across a good practice routine and inspiring students to practice, I find it is important to make clear what they are trying to gain themselves and keep reminding them on how they must practice to achieve it. For beginners I make sure they understand basic technique and reading before even getting near a drum set. Making sure my students have a good foundation before playing the drum set is crucial. For intermediate to advanced players I like to teach in more conceptual ways based on their needs and genre they want to focus on. Of course most importantly is that my students have fun and really feel like they've learned something after every lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have two drum sets, I would just expect the student to have at least a pad as a means to practice at home, sticks, and a notebook.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have two drum sets, but I would prefer not to travel with them. I would just expect the student to have at least a pad as a means to practice at home, sticks, and a notebook.

*** Specialties ***
Rock, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, Punk, Metal, Avante-garde, Latin and Afro Cuban, Fusion.

I teach all styles and levels of drumming! Focus on listening, playing along to songs and recordings, groove, time keeping, technique and reading. Some discussion of music theory and history. I tailor my lessons to meet each individual student’s needs and expectations. I encourage students to bring their favorite songs and we usually end up working with those. I also like using songs by The Beatles as they provide a perfect (fun and familiar) platform to learn many different aspects of drumming and musical performance.

About Paul
As a teacher (and also father) Paul finds great joy in sharing his experience and insight with the next generation of creative musicians. For many years, he has taught drummers and percussionists of all ages and levels in academic settings as well as privately. He has also taught workshops and masterclasses at several renowned venues and music conservatories while touring with bands throughout Europe (Royal Academy of Music, London UK; Hull University, Hull UK; Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, Paris FR).
Playing music has always been a part of Paul's life. Growing up in a family of musicians, he started playing cello at age 6 and he's been playing drums since age 8. After an extensive classical tutelage at the Music Conservatory in Esch/Alzette (Luxembourg) and at various music workshops throughout the world, he completed both underg
raduate and graduate studies at Manhattan School of Music, learning from the likes of John Riley, David Liebman, Samir Chatterjee & Michael Abene.
Paul has since been able to make a name for himself among the local and international music industry as an accomplished drummer and forward-thinking composer. He has performed at several international festivals (North Sea Jazz Festival) and at some of the world's most prestigious jazz clubs in the US and overseas. Paul has appeared alongside such emerging stars as David Binney, Linda Oh, Ambrose Akinmusire, Will Vinson, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lage Lund, Mike Moreno and Tim Collins.

Whether my students are young or old, taking lessons as a hobby or wish to pursue a career in music, I tailor my lessons to meet each individual student’s needs and expectations.
I have a lot of fun teaching and I want you or your child to have fun during our lessons.
My students learn music in the most natural and intuitive way possible. I try to build on what the student already likes, listens to and has a passion for. I encourage students to bring their favorite songs and we usually end up working with those. I also like using songs by The Beatles as they provide a perfect (fun and familiar) platform to learn many different aspects of drumming and musical performance.
In addition to being a drummer and percussionist, I have a strong background in music theory and I want to make sure my students not only know how to play their instrument, but also become familiar with reading and writing music.
After a few months in the studio, you or your child can expect to have a better understanding of music and have acquired the basic tools and techniques which will allow you to play your favorite pieces of music.

Paul is great teacher. My 7 year old son and I have been taking lessons with Paul for several months and I'm very please with the progress that we have both made. Paul has done a great job at tailoring my son's and my lessons to reflect the difference in age, skill, and musical interests. He has taught us fundamentals and technique but has also incorporated songs into the lessons, which is helping us build skill, while making it more fun. I would recommend him both for kids and adults. He has a great personality and is very patient, responsible, and puntual.

I have little musical training and absolutely no experience playing the drums but thought it would be a fun thing to do in my free time. I'm 31 and did not have high expectations that I would be able to handle even basic 3-limbed coordination. After sitting down with Paul once, it was a happy revelation to find out that I was actually capable of learning. He is patient & observant. For a beginner like me, he does a good job of structuring incremental exercises, while simultaneously finding songs at my level, so I could learn to play a song from beginning to end after only a few lessons. He's good at keeping me on track and encouraging me to practice. I feel lucky that my first experience learning the drums has been with such a great teacher!

Paul is an awesome teacher! I began taking drum lessons on a whim and had 0 experience/ former knowledge about drumming. He has taught me so much in very little time and made it extremely dynamic and fun. I look forward to my lessons each week because I always feel accomplished at the end. I highly recommend him as a teacher!

I have a 100% rate of getting my students into their school of choice as of yet. Although I don't guarantee it, I will work relentlessly to make sure you are well prepared though. I will also lend you PDFs of books to help you save a buck.

About Scott
*Brief Update: Both of my 8th grade students were accepted to LaGuardia High School and my 5th grade student was accepted into Mark Twain Middle School for the Gifted & Talented. He also passed his audition for Borough Wide Band. Next up is getting my Junior in high school into All State Orchestra!*

*Update again. My student made all state!

I have been playing drums and percussion since the ripe old age of 9, in 4th grade. Originally wanting to play the clarinet, my music teacher thought my sense of rhythm was too good to waste and placed me in the drum section. I was the only kid who didn't want to play drums. Twenty years later here I am, a professional freelancing percussionist and teacher. The journey to where I am was a long and winding one but I can't imagine it any other way. After learning basic drumming in elementary sch
ool, I continued through middle school. There I was placed on drum kit and thought I was the coolest. I didn't take it too seriously but serious enough to keep playing drum kit. When choosing high schools I wasn't interested in keeping with drums. I only took marching band because it meant no gym. After my first year I was placed in every band the next three years, having to learn timpani and marimba for concert band. I was also recommended to join a city wide concert band, InterSchool orchestras of New York, and haven't left since. I still coach the band and help tons of high school and middle school students hone their craft. Also that year, through ISO, I was given a chance to attend French woods performing arts camp on scholarship where I began my love of playing in musical pit orchestras. Through this time I studied with a couple of teachers and had plenty of coachings with professional percussionists. Upon graduating I have played well over 100 different musicals, played with over 25 different orchestras, and have taught over 100 students both privately and in coachings. I currently run a Drumline out of a private school, coach ISO band, freelance and have a studio of 8 students. That is a short sample of my journey and I hope it inspires you to study with me.

If you choose me as a teacher, I will shape you as an overall musician, not just a "Drummer". What this means is that you won't just learn beats from me, you will learn all the fundamentals of basic to intermediate music theory, from note reading and rhythm to chord changes and ..... You will start on a practice pad and quickly go to a drum kit. Lessons will be half and half, but more 75/25 drumkit, because everything you learn on a pad can translate to the kit! I would also teach you timpani and xylophone if you like so you can broaden your horizons and even get into the middle/high school or college you want. I have most of my books of pdf that I can give you to print or you can purchase your own copies. You would also need to purchase a practice pad and eventually a drum kit. If you don't want to purchase a drum kit then there is almost no reason to study it since you won't be able to practice between lessons. Practicing, let's talk about that. It is expected that you practice the material we learn in the lesson throughout the week. Now I know everyone is busy, but if you can put aside 25 minutes (a sitcom without commercials!!) a day then you will have a better understanding and better retention of the material. Doing this will let us just review the material a little bit and go on to learn new and exciting things.

The bottom line in choosing me? I am a professional musician in the trenches of the nyc music scene and know what it takes to make it.

Drum lessons are taught one-on-one and from a beginner level to an advanced level. Ages of students start at 6-years-old and up. I have many adult students as well. It's never too late to start a new instrument.

About Rob
I have over 18 years of professional teaching experience on drum set, snare drum and percussion (timpani, two- & four-mallets, accessory percussion and hand drums), guitar, piano, electric bass and ukulele. I have been playing music since the age of two.

Some of my most noteworthy performances have included Late Show with David Letterman (Justin Townes Earle and Allison Moorer), Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Allison Moorer), Levon Helm'™s Midnight Ramble (Allison Moorer), The Conan O'™Brien Show (Julia Nunes) and Budokan in Tokyo, Japan (Jim Campilongo Trio).

My Bachelor of Music is from Capital University where I studied with three great teachers:
Robert Breithaupt - Classical percussion and jazz drum set
Jim Ed Cobbs - Drum set, tabla and frame drums
Eric Paton - Taiko, samba, Afro-Cuban drums

I treat
each student individually, catering to specific goals and needs that we will decide upon and plan together. Some students want to seriously study a craft. Others want a hobby that will be fun and interesting. I have had success teaching to both, and will impart basic fundamentals and musicianship to all types of students.

I see my primary job as keeping the student inspired, intellectually fed and sprinting in the right direction. The student's job is to do the work. Daily practice is essential to move forward in any craft.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My Brooklyn studio is a dedicated music space with two drum sets, PA, amplifiers and recording capabilities.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide books, a drum pad, sticks or mallets, an iPod with two sets of headphones, and a metronome. Additionally, I can bring small hand drums, special instruments and percussion that might be needed for specialty lessons. I expect students to have some sort of pad or drum to practice on at home; a full drum set is not necessary.

*** Specialties ***
Drum set (rock, jazz, R&B, folk, pop, electro, Afro-Cuban)
Snare drum
Timpani
Two- and four-mallets (marimba, vibraphone, xylophone)

Learn all styles and quickly get proficient on the drum set. For more advanced players we can work on the pad for advanced techniques and control.

About Freddy
Freddy C R., better known as Freddy C, is a driven, passionate, charismatic and accomplished musician. Born in Philadelphia, he set out to make music with a diverse approach and with a unique twist. Although he is mostly specialized in drums and guitar, he is also a proficient vocalist and songwriter with 8 records released since 2008. This prolific artist is currently working on his 9th studio effort, working on his music in a completely independent way: Freddy is the only musician, audio engineer and producer behind his music.

Freddy's sound is open and experimental, striving to explore many different genres and refusing to get stuck in a box. Ranging from rock to progressive, pop, blues, jazz and even electronica and ambient; Freddy set out to create some amazing sonic landscapes with appealing and unpredictable characteristics. H
is sound is dynamic, spontaneous and full of energy and melody. The mix of genres appeals to a diverse crowd, regardless of age and preferences. Some of his more open and orchestral compositions have appeared in several films and other media. Currently, Freddy works and lives between Palm Beach and New York City, where he runs his own NYC recording facility.

When not busy making music, Freddy operates a very successful luxury travel agency, Sienna C with his wife Jaclyn Sienna India.

DRUMS
A pair of drumsticks were probably the first thing I ever fooled around with when I was younger. Well, maybe not the first thing, but I remember playing as young as 4 years old. It's always easier to start learning an instrument when you're a child. Endless hours of the day to practice with no responsibilities, works wonders! Those of us that were fortunate enough to have the time as a child to lay a foundation for music, we were lucky. Drumming is the most physical form of musical instrument expression. For me it was the only form of expression. The drummer learns to control two sides of his brain, a practice that allows the individual to develop in a unique way. In order to learn how to properly play the drums, you need to loosen up. The point is to release the tension through the beats and notes, as opposed to being tense while playing. An accomplished drummer will learn how to master the muscle separation between arms, hands and fingers. The latter being the most difficult. My influences when performing behind the kit are many, but the following will always stand out; Ginger Baker, Bill Bruford, Billy Cobham and Buddy Rich to name a few. My practice regime as a child was putting on records and playing along. Developing my ear was the most important aspect of my training. Being able to hear what you are going to play, before you play it is what the musician strives for. My approach to teaching drums relies on heavy ear training, rather than reading notes. I think some fundamental theory and notation reading is a plus, but not necessary in today's musical context.

My basic approach is to foster the student in a relaxed but focused environment. Everyone has their own goals in mind when picking up the sticks. Whether you want to learn how to play your favorite song, brush up on your snare etudes or analyze an Elvin Jones solo, I am more than happy to offer guidance on your musical journey.

About Mike
Hello, my name is Mike and I am excited to teach you. I have studied the drums for most of my life, and can't wait to show you what I have learned.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with some amazing teachers and musicians from all over the globe. I am more than willing to pass on what I have discovered.

I have taught beginners how to hold the sticks and play simple grooves, as well as shown seasoned veterans how to strengthen their foundation and overcome roadblocks to mastery.

I encourage my students to develop a solid foundation of technical skills (grip, body mechanics, reading, time, rudiments, styles/grooves) while finding their own voice on the instrument. Musical performance is a deeply personal experience, and I hope to guide you towards whatever goals you have in mind.

About Zach
Bonjour everyone , my name is Zach, I was born and raised in France in a small (tiny tiny) village called Galluis.

I have since then lived in Paris , Philadelphia and now New York.

He graduated from "Jean-Monnet European High-school" where I specialized in English and French Literature.

I have been teaching FRENCH and DRUMS for more than 12 years now.

About FRENCH LESSONS : ( section about DRUM LESSONS below )

Most people I've taught come to me saying "French is so hard , I will never be able to speak it" or "When I try to speak french, french people answer me in english"

--- THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN WITH ME :)

French is easy , you just need a good teacher who cares about you.
I do.

I can help you with :

• Pronunciation ( so that nobody will answer you in English )
• What to know if you go to France soon ( so
that you can know a little bit before you go )
• Basic to advanced conversation ( so you can make french friends and understand what they say )
• Train your ear
• Grammar / Vocabulary / Verbs

BUT DON'T WORRY , IT WILL BE FUN !

After the first lesson , ALL my students realize that learning french isn't scary anymore.

So : qui veut apprendre le français ?*

(*who wants to learn french?)

Section about DRUM LESSONS:

On the music side of my studies: I attended the American School of Modern Music of Paris for 3 years and moved to Philadelphia to study with Joe Morello's former student Sam Ruttenberg at the University of the Arts in 2012.

I perform as a professional jazz drummer between Europe and America.

~~Teaching Philosophy~~

IF YOU CAN SAY IT , YOU CAN PLAY IT !

•I teach beginners to advanced students , all ages and styles are welcome

I can teach you ( how to ) :

• read
• improvise
• play with other musicians
• the history of the drums
• your role as a drummer
• make music with an instrument that at first doesn't seem very musical
• swing
• latin / afro cuban grooves
• rock
• correct your grip on the sticks
and everything else you may ask... the possibilities and endless
