Many people think they can't draw. I used to be one of them. Now, I know that everyone can draw, they just need to learn how to translate what they see into an image. We will start with contour, move into gesture, create the illusion of 3D form using value and color, composition and even create the illusion of space. We will use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastels (oil and chalk) and even use paint. It's really lots of fun!
About John
Hello! My name is John and I can teach you to draw and paint. I am high energy, funnier than all get out, yet have a serious love of art. Let's explore not just the technical side of drawing/painting, but let's help you discover how to express your creative self!

How do you transfer a 3D subject onto a 2D surface? How do you draw what you SEE and not what you THINK? Drawing is the ability to see and transfer accurately what you see onto your 2D area. There are many techniques and tricks from the drawing masters I have shown my students that are effective in improving their drawing skills. We will also delve into highlights and shading, and use various pencils and other mediums to enhance the drawing experience as well. Come and see that your drawing can improve tremendously with practice and the right techniques!
About Rita
I have been teaching and painting since 1983. I am also a professional mural artist and found that my painting improved many years after art school. I was frustrated back then and painting seemed so complicated! Is that you? I figured out, with my own research, the freedom and fun in painting. Yo

Self expression through art is an amazing experience. It's personal on all levels.
The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.
Materials are not included.
Materials needed are pencil, paper and a willingness to explore.
Drawing lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.
Ages 9+
Note:
For virtual sessions, the student will need to create a conducive workspace that will allow teacher/student viewing of art work in progress. The student will need a workspace with lots of light. Often, I will ask to see the students progress, so that I may be able critique and give advise on their work in progress.
For short-term sessions (virtual or in-person), the teacher and student will collaborate and determine how the student will get the most out of their session(s).
About Sharron
In my sessions, I am more than a teacher, I am a mentor and a counselor, I promote positive energy for positive outcomes. I am the Artist behind JFA Studio in Baltimore, Maryland. However, my resume includes graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts and continued studies at the Maryla
