Learning or perfecting skills can often feel intimidating and challenging at times. In each personalized lesson, it is my goal that you feel encouraged and appreciated for the unique singer or learner you are. I will give you the tools you need to become a confident and composed performer and to reach your goals as a student. I will provide fun and interactive exercises that help you master the basics of breath, posture, tone, diction, and the foundations of musicianship. Students will learn how to prepare a song and how to present a song in dramatic and interpretive form. Students will learn how to prepare for auditions and competitions (choral, solo, theatre role, etc.), and how to overcome stage fright and other challenges that are unique to live performance. I use a variety of teaching tools such as physical movement, imagery, and visual aids. I specialize in classical singing, musical theatre, and the jazz/blues sound. My goal is for you to enjoy singing and to meet your goals, whether you want to just sing at home for your family or land a leading role in a musical!

Just like a piano, flute or violin, your voice is an instrument. The purpose of voice lessons is to help you develop a beautiful and dynamic singing voice and also to teach you to use your voice in a healthy age-appropriate way that will keep you singing for many years to come! As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs. While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar. We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up. Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way. After warm-ups, we will work on songs. Typically, you will sing through the song once, and then we will go through it small, manageable chunks, applying the techniques from the warm-ups to the songs. During the lesson we will also work on expression and acting. A song isn't just pretty notes—it tells a story. If it's a song from a musical, there's a specific character that sings it. It's your job as a singer to tell the story and to make it fun and exciting for the audience. While there's a lot of hard work that goes on during a lesson, voice lessons are lots of fun! As your teacher, I am here to encourage you, support you, and guide you in your vocal studies. I look forward to working with you soon! I've given successfully online lessons via Skype and Take Lessons classroom. If you are interested here is a list with some of the advantages: 1. Quality of the teacher: I believe it is better to have Skype lessons with an excellent teacher than it is to have in-person lessons with a mediocre teacher. Skype gives students even more options to choose from when looking for a teacher since they are not restricted to their small local region. 2. Weekly Convenience: Students don’t have to travel 10 or 20 minutes to their teacher’s studio. 3. Convenience of Recording Lessons: While students always have the option to record their face-to-face lessons, that never happens (at least, in the history of my teaching). But students can easily record Skype lessons for review at a later time with software like Evaer and SuperTinTin (audio only: Pamela, MP3 Skype Recorder, and VodBurner). 4. Immediate Practicing: (added 1/13/12) While face-to-face students must drive home before practicing what they learned (which eats up time and tires people out), distance students can practice immediately after the lesson when ideas are fresh and when energy levels are still high. This is an extra practice session most students will get. 5. Siblings Don’t Have To Wait: (added 1/13/12) Kids can do their own thing while their siblings have lessons, while in the private studio, they are held hostage until their siblings are done. 6. Warming Up: Students can warm up at the piano before their lesson, only stopping seconds before the lesson begins. The piano student also gets to play their own instrument.

⭐️Relaxation Based, Wholistic Voice Lessons ⭐️Using my therapeutic Relaxation-First Method, your proper vocal technique will be taught using guided relaxation. This will guarantee total vocal control, heal vocal damage, and keep you singing healthily for the rest of your life. I am dedicated to nurturing the differences in each students voice, and through my tension-releasing approach my students learn to use their instrument effortlessly. This means that the student will be able to sing any style of music they want! Since no style is actually harder or easier than another, we can master them all when the malleability of the human voice is fully understood and used as a tool. ~ ~ Understand Your Instrument Completely, Express Yourself Effortlessly ~ ~ Together we will eliminate tension, strain and pain from the singing experience. The comfort and ease gained through Relaxation-First singing is key to healthily mastering these core skills which will be the main focus of our first 4-8 lessons : * Breath Control * Singing on Pitch (correcting “tone deaf” singing) * Expanding the Vocal Range (singing higher & lower notes) * Understanding and Mastering Rhythm * Projecting * Belting * Singing and Understanding Harmonies * Stage fright * Mastering the Formula for Any Audition * Confident Performance Technique Applying my Relaxation-First methodology to these professional foundations of strong vocal technique make it easy and natural for students to find their voice and transition out of stage fright so that they can feel confident on any stage: from karaoke bars, to local and professional musical theater productions. From open mic nights to performing with their very own band. These are not only vocal coaching sessions, but complete performance-ready-workshops. Once we have mastered the students' preliminary vocal technique goals and conquered some of their favorite songs, I always encourage my students to expand their creative horizons with these bonus areas of study: * Song Writing * Music Production Using Electronic Software such as Garage Band, Ableton, Logic, or even SoundTrap (a free, online music production software). * Beginner Level Piano Playing * Beginner and Intermediate Level Sight Reading * Understanding Music Theory from the Singer's Perspective (Using Solfeggio) * Developing Content for YouTube and Social Media * Forming a Band of Live Musicians to Play Originals and Cover Songs * Writing Lead Sheets for the Band to Easily Communicate Musical Ideas and Simplify the Rehearsal Process * How to Use a Microphone During a Live Performance * How to Sing in a Recording Studio * How to Use a Microphone in a Recording Studio All of these core skills and bonus areas of study go from completely mystifying and intimidating, to comfortable and natural when approached with the wholistic, positive reenforcement based, Relaxation-First Method. We embrace the notion that singing is not pass/fail. It's a gradual and open minded exploration of all the amazing things our vocal cords can do. My vocal lessons are safe and inclusive for all people. I work regularly with trans and nonbinary folks looking to sing in their true voice, young learners lacking access to educational creative outlets, trauma survivors looking to heal blockages and unlock their voice, religious singers looking to sing with a worship group or participate more in their local place of worship, and elders bravely beginning a new journey towards a life long curiosity. Please feel free to message me with any questions. It’s my pleasure to make this process as seamless and comfortable for you as possible. Let’s get singing!

I believe in the extraordinary power of music to communicate, to inspire and, often, to heal. That belief underlies all my work. I’ve been teaching Broadway style singing to adults and kids for over ten years, focusing on how to produce a big, beautiful, and vocally safe sound. My students run the gamut from musical theater and opera professionals to kids and total beginners. My goal is to help you find the power to express through singing your unique self. It doesn't matter whether your voice is professional quality or whether it's even "good" in the conventional sense. It's YOUR voice. It has its own sound and characteristics, its own particular beauty, and the world needs to hear you! I have advanced training and expertise in the function of the voice, but the most important qualities I offer as a teacher are the simple human ones: understanding, patience, imagination, kindness, enthusiasm, respectfulness and absolute commitment to helping you meet your vocal goals.

Take lessons from a Ph. D of music! I've studied vocal performance for 15 years now, singing and teaching all styles. Aside from my performing experience, I've carefully studied the anatomy and physics of singing well, and how to get that knowledge across clearly in a one-on-one session. In these lessons, I guarantee that you will notice improvements quickly, no matter what style of music you want to sing.

Broadway music is one of my most favorite genres. I have well over 100 pieces of music, each one big and bold, or thoughtful and timeless. Even if you're not planning on being on Broadway, or doing musical theater, this is a standard in our rehearsals in learning how to connect emotionally to music, learn phrasing, and breathing technique.

My lessons with Denise have been great. I took lessons under the intention of performance in musical theater, and in under five lessons she was able to get it professional-ready. By no means does that
