Before settling into a music career, worked as a dance instructor, for the City of NY and received congrats from John Lindsey, then mayor, for outstanding achievement. As an actor, performed in several off-Broadway plays and was a principal in the “Broadway tour”, ”Pulitzer prize ” winning play, “No Place to be Somebody.” I've performed through the years as a vocalist with a trio and as a ONE WOMAN SHOW at various night spots, concert halls and social events. As a voice coach I've had the good fortune to teach the skills and techniques of the art of singing. Singing is the joy I share as a performer and as a teacher. There are so many colors to the human voice. Unlike most instruments, the human body does not show us what note we are playing or how the air is inhaled in to our stomach. So we end up feeling our way through, using our imagination. This is where the magic happens. In class and outside of it, muscle memory takes its natural course and we begin creating a unique and practical "navigation map" of your voice. Whether you feel like letting out some steam, working on those high notes or designing your own sound; I am excited to meet you! I have studied (and still studying - learning is endless...) many different techniques and am very committed to sharing what I know with patience and passion. Lessons are flexible, fun and fit for the students needs. I take great pride in my students success and can't wait to welcome new ones!

I just had my first lesson with Ariella, and I can already tell she loves what she does, and it's truly a blessing to be working with her.

I am thrilled to be working with Ariella Edvy in my quest to learn Hebrew. Her approach of using music and video clips to teach make her lessons fun and relevant. But there are two things that really set her apart -- her art of teaching elocution (she makes you feel it!) and her way of modeling her lessons to each individual's learning style.
Technique is number 1! And before you even get to the vocal work, Breathing technique is key! So we will begin with that, and work forward. The Ultimate goal is to get your Technique working so well for you that you don't have to think about it, it begins to happen automatically. Ive been teaching voice privately over the last 5 years, and doing vocal workshops as well.
Hi, I'm Lothair E, originally from Chicago. I'm a great lover of all music! I've been singing since I was 5 years old. Got my BFA in Musical Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University, and have been singing and acting all over the world for the last 27 years. I've worked extensively in Europe.. Germany , the UK, and New Zealand. In the States I've done Off Broadway, and regional theatre. Roles I've played are Papa the Old Steam Train in STARLIGHT EXPRESS 2,976 performances, Sister Mary Hubert in the Original Off Broadway production of NUNSENSE A-MEN, The Voice of the Plant in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS as well as many others. Its important to enjoy the work you are doing. We can have a good laugh while working, but I can also push a little harder when necessary.
Lothair is an amazing singing teacher! He is kind, dedicated, patient, and extremely talented. I am a beginner and after 5 lessons, I already feel more confident with my singing. He thoroughly explains various vocal exercises and will answer any question you have with a smile :). As a bonus he is also an actor! You will not be dissapointed if you take lessons with Lothair.

Every lesson is for YOU. The time we spend together is time for you to explore your voice, your goals, and desires within music. I specialize in beginner/intermediate singers looking to expand their voice, repertoire, and love of singing. No lesson will be the same, and every lesson will be a shared experience in which we learn how your voice works, and how it feels.
Lessons include, but are not limited too, repertoire exploration, music theory, range expansion, vocal pedagogy/vocal anatomy, performance preparation, character coaching .....and much more.
I'm a professional singer/teacher residing in New York City with degrees from Indiana State University, and New York University with a specialization in Classical Art Song, Musical Theatre Repertoire, and Vocal Pedagogy.
Every lesson is about YOU. So each week we will take a look at your goals for the lesson, whether you are preparing for college auditions, school talents shows, a desire to work with music theory, or piano skills, this is your opportunity to explore. Everything is possible.
As a professional singer myself, I am constantly auditioning on broadway, off-broadway, and for smaller local and regional theater opportunities. I believe that as a teacher I have to continue to be in the field and learning as the industry continues to change. I have to be aware of the opportunities in this business. I have been hired by pr
ofessional opera and musical theatre companies, in additional to large choral works as a soloist, and have a private studio in Washington Heights.
Prior to NYC I taught middle school choir for 200+ students, of which I received teacher of the year in 2012. I also still hold a valid teaching license in the state of Indiana and currently applying toward my NYS teaching certification.
Within my voice studio I teach in person and online lessons. While online lessons can be beneficial for students wishing to study with me that are not in the immediate vicinity, I recommend in person lessons
I look forward to hearing your beautiful voice and helping you to embrace music!
Shelley is fantastic. She made me feel at ease right away, even though I have no prior singing experience and I was incredibly nervous. As early as my second lesson, I could already hear a difference in my voice when I listened back to the recording of our session! She really knows what she's doing and it shows. I highly recommend Shelley. In addition to being a great music teacher - which she is - she's also so pleasant to work with! She's fast to respond, very accommodating with her schedule, friendly and easygoing, and professional. I started out thinking I'd just take a few weeks' worth of lessons to get out of my comfort zone. Over a year later, I'm still here, and looking forward to every week.

Ms. Shelley is very dedicated to every one of her students. It is a pleasure working with her!

Shelley is by far the best voice teacher I have ever had. Within the short duration of time that I have worked with her, I have noticed that my voice has significantly changed (it feels and sounds better) after using her techniques. She knows what she’s talking about and offers substantial and specific criticism. She individualizes every student, in that she chooses repertoire that benefits a particular voice instead of assuming that every student has the same voice and strengths/weaknesses. This is a very important skill for a voice teacher to have. Shelley is also very good at time management within a lesson. Most importantly, she makes the experience fun! I would highly recommend Shelley to anyone who is looking for a voice teacher! Thank you Shelley!
"My daughters first lesson was amazing.
She was very pleased and left confident that this was a great match for her! Thanks Moa!"
"Taught me techniques to preserve my voice
I'm a rock singer and prone to scream sometimes. As I've gotten older, I've noticed my voice wears out a lot qu
icker than it used to. After taking lessons with Laurelanne, she found I never learned proper technique when singing in this style. She showed me how to make adjustments and I've seen a lot of improvement with how long I can sing in my style."
"THE best voice teacher ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Danielle is extremely knowledgeable about singing and performing- and not only that, she adapts the
lesson to you! If you need help as a professional singer or just doing it for fun she is the person you need in your life. With her techniques I have gained confidence and have greatly improved my range. I feel so fortunate to have her as a teacher."
"Awesome! Made me comfortable when I was so nervous, was flexible with scheduling and very awesome teaching techniques."
"Paul is an amazing musician, teacher and individual. Over the course of a few weeks he specifically evaluated my singing and worked with me in order to im
prove my singing. With every lesson that I had, I was able to notice real improvement in my voice. Paul also exposed me to a wide array of musical styles, in order to better get to know my voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. He is very encouraging and friendly, from the first lesson he already works to help you feel comfortable.
All in all, by having Paul as an instructor you get to learn from an amazing, accomplished musician who truly knows his field and who also has a great personality while being a great teacher, I think that sums it up pretty well."
"Jake is very patient and encouraging, that helps when one is new at taking lessons."
"She kept me engaged! I enjoyed her welcoming personality and how clear her instructions were."
"Mary is super. She made my daughter feel comfortable and welcome. She's very professional and sweet. My daughter can't wait for her next lesson."
